Russell White has spent over $100,000 to create a custom car that can easily leap over sand dunes in the desert. The car, called a Rally Fighter, can also reach speeds up to 135 miles per hour. A Rally Fighter is a car that is manufactured by Local Motors but customized and built by the customer. Russell, from Texas, USA, built his street-legal car himself in the factory where they are made in Chandler, Arizona.

00:06 That's where it's happy and that's where it wants to be.
00:12 You just have to be willing to be there with it.
00:15 00;01;12;12 00;01;17;12 When it comes to the ultimate off-road in vehicle, Russell Wyatt's
00:19 Rally Fighter steals the show.
00:20 00;01;17;12 00;01;21;12 It can be very dangerous at times.
00:23 For me, that's the exciting part.

00:36 Most of the parts are collected together and prepared by local motors in Chandler, Arizona.
00:41 I went to the factory, I used their tools, got in there with my hands, started with a
00:48 bare frame, and built the car to completion, and driving it home 30 days later.
00:54 The engines from the Chevy Corvette and the Camaro SS is direct from GM Performance Parts.
01:02 It's known as the E-Rod, which is an LS3, 430 horsepower, I believe 420 foot-pounds
01:09 of torque, and passes all 50 state emissions.
01:12 It comes with everything you need to install, run, and get it on the road.
01:18 The steering wheel is actually a Momo Race Spec, I believe.
01:22 The column, I believe, is out of a F-150.
01:26 The custom car can reach speeds of up to 135 miles per hour, and can drive over virtually
01:32 any terrain that comes in its path.
01:34 A lot of times I like going down the roads where I do not know what's around the corner,
01:39 or on the other side of that hill.
01:41 It just heightens the sensation in the not knowing, so it's very fun.
01:46 It has the GM crate motor, and I got about 20 inches of travel, and suspension, allows
01:54 for driving really fast out in the desert, and taking some of the bigger jumps and loops,
01:59 and anything you've majorly come across.
02:01 As well as tackling the toughest of driving conditions, the unusual looking car is completely
02:07 street legal.
02:08 I thought it was something from the future, something pretty wild.
02:12 I want one, three words, right?
02:14 No, unique car, great looking car.
02:17 I'm surprised about the engine, it's kind of in the dashboard, but it's amazing.
02:21 Such a small engine for such a strange looking car.
02:26 While he can drive his attention grabbing creation round the city, there's only one
02:30 place Russell really enjoys driving his car.
02:34 Because it's a very capable car, and you can only go as fast as the person in front of
02:41 you, most of the time it's 35 miles an hour.
02:44 That's why I like coming out here in the desert, and if I see a dirt road alongside the road,
02:51 you're going to see my car on that dirt road, then you are on the street.
