00:00 Okay, so today I'm at Stamshaw Junior School and we have come down to meet Buddy the Cavapoo.
00:10 He is a well-being dog owned by Rob Jones, the head teacher.
00:14 He comes in, he kind of greets all of the kids at the welcome gate, says goodbye to
00:18 them at the end of the day and he generally just is a very cute dog.
00:22 So I'm really excited to meet him, I'm going to have a little play at playtime with him,
00:26 throw some balls and yeah, just kind of get the experience of what Buddy does around the
00:31 school.
00:56 So my name is Rob Jones, I'm the head teacher at Stamshaw Junior School.
01:00 This is Buddy that we're talking about, he's our school dog.
01:05 He's been coming here since he was 12 weeks old, so he's actually my dog.
01:09 He came as a sort of young puppy to sort of get him used to young children, loud children,
01:19 children that are running towards him, running away and he copes really, really well.
01:23 So he's about 18 months old now and his job is more of a well-being dog more than a therapy
01:29 dog, he's a bit young for a therapy dog just yet.
01:32 And his job is basically just to make people feel happy, that's his job.
01:37 He makes the staff feel happy, the children just want to play with him all the time and
01:41 he absolutely loves the children.
01:44 His favourite game is this, throwing balls, that's his absolute favourite.
01:49 We have to give him two balls because he's quite possessive of his balls, so if he's
01:54 got two, he'll drop the one to get the other one, so it means we can steal one of the balls.
01:58 Yeah, but he's a good boy, our Buddy is.
02:06 So I've just come back in from playtime with Buddy, a little bit worn out because he's
02:16 very fast, but we've kind of thrown some balls, played fetch, all the kids wanted to get involved
02:20 which was really nice as well.
02:22 And we're just going to, I think we're going to go down and kind of see Buddy in action
02:26 with year five class.

03:04 I had a blast outside, I'm such a dog person, this is my idea of a perfect morning.
03:11 Yeah, it's so nice to see Buddy with all the children and to kind of get that one on one
03:17 experience and get to have a little play, it doesn't feel like work to be honest.

03:25 So it has been actually been really, really fun.
03:29 Buddy is just like a fluffy teddy bear and you just want to cuddle him.
03:34 Seeing him walk through the school with his little like waddle is just the cutest thing.
03:40 So no, it's been a really, really nice experience and kind of makes me want to come back to
03:45 school.
03:46 And I might enrol at Stamshore Junior School so I can be around the dog all the time.
