The executive producers and the cast bring you an inside look of Masters of the Air. The 9-part series event premieres January 26. https://apple.co/_MastersOfTheAir
Based on Donald L. Miller’s book of the same name, and scripted by John Orloff, “Masters of the Air” follows the men of the 100th Bomb Group (the “Bloody Hundredth”) as they conduct perilous bombing raids over Nazi Germany and grapple with the frigid conditions, lack of oxygen, and sheer terror of combat conducted at 25,000 feet in the air. Portraying the psychological and emotional price paid by these young men as they helped destroy the horror of Hitler’s Third Reich, is at the heart of “Masters of the Air.” Some were shot down and captured; some were wounded or killed. And some were lucky enough to make it home. Regardless of individual fate, a toll was exacted on them all.
The series features a stellar cast led by Academy Award nominee Austin Butler, Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle and Nate Mann, who are joined by Raff Law, Academy Award nominee Barry Keoghan, Josiah Cross, Branden Cook and Ncuti Gatwa.
Hailing from Apple Studios, "Masters of the Air" is executive produced by Steven Spielberg through Amblin Television, and Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman for Playtone. Amblin Television’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey co-executive produce alongside Playtone’s Steven Shareshian. In addition to writing, Orloff co-executive produces. Graham Yost also serves as co-executive producer. Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck, Cary Joji Fukunaga, Dee Rees and Tim Van Patten serve as directors.

00:00 This is it. Don't you die on me. Don't count on it.
00:04 If this whole thing ended and there were only two pilots left up in the air, it would be me and it would be you, Buck.
00:16 Today, the 8th will be sending up three task forces.
00:19 That's the largest air armada ever assembled in the history of mankind.
00:23 Yeah!
00:24 Masters of the Air is about a group of American airmen who did what was asked of them.
00:29 It's gonna get bumpy. Hang on, guys.
00:31 Despite the chances they were either gonna get killed, wounded or captured.
00:35 I had thought it would be easy to be in the sky.
00:37 Pilot to crew, flak ahead!
00:39 There's dangers that you don't really think about.
00:41 There's more chance of you dying up there than if you were down in the trenches.
00:45 These daylight missions is suicide.
00:47 In the face of unimaginable mayhem...
00:50 Fighters, 12 o'clock!
00:52 You have ten guys...
00:53 Open fire! Let 'em have it!
00:55 ...in a machine trying to keep it in the air.
00:59 Any advice?
01:01 Try to stay alive.
01:03 Yes, sir.
01:04 When you're in combat, you know who you're fighting for?
01:07 The guy to your left and the guy to your right.
01:09 They have nothing but each other and they're able to conquer anything when they stay together.
01:14 I'm pretty sure that this is the biggest production any of us have ever done.
01:20 Definitely the hardest.
01:21 Mission accomplished, boys.
01:23 It's been my dream to do something like this, let alone with the team that made Band of Brothers and the Pacific.
01:28 And getting to bring life to these heroic men, realizing how dangerous it was...
01:36 ...and the bravery with which they bought our freedom.
01:39 That's the privilege for me, and I hope that that's what an audience receives.
