00:00 We need to make sure we look after our youngsters far better.
00:03 And as they get a little older, are we giving them the right opportunities for good employment, housing, career development and so on?
00:09 I think there's a lot more to do with that.
00:12 And we will do what we can to help because once this vice, as I would call it, grips youngsters,
00:20 it's quite difficult to turn their lives around and get them out of trouble.
00:24 We know the difficulty they are once they get involved in gangs.
00:27 We've all heard of stories of those who were involved in gangs with the extortion, the vulnerability, exploitation.
00:35 I don't think they consciously choose to be in a position like that.
00:38 Getting out of them is difficult.
00:40 It can be done, but let's do what we can, particularly with youngsters, to try and prevent that in the first place.
00:45 And if there's anything I'm particularly concerned about, that has to be right at the top of the list.
00:50 We've got to do far better in society because what a waste of a life if youngsters get involved in criminality
00:56 at that tender age. So, a really serious issue.
01:00 And whilst it might not be of huge proportions in Suffolk at the moment, in many ways you could argue one is too many.
01:07 We've got to really redouble our efforts on that and certainly I'll do what I can to help.
