Tightest Ever 360 Degree Spin Performed By Driver

A FEARLESS stunt driver squeezes his way into the record books by executing the world’s tightest ever 360 degree spin. Petrolhead Alastair Moffatt travelled at a speed of roughly 30 mph down a narrow lane of cars. The professional stunt driver, of Stunt Drive UK, spun his Subaru BRZ 360 degrees then accelerated to the end of the course - all in one continuous motion. Alastair's car was slightly over 4m long and the gap allowed for just 2.25m of clearance for him to complete the stunt - breaking the previous record of 2.5m.

00:00 COMMENTATOR 1 - So the guys are out there measuring as we speak. Alistair Moffat gets the thumbs up. Let's go for another world record!
00:09 COMM: Stunt driver Alistair Moffat already has six driving world records to his name.
00:19 ALISTAIR MOFFAT - I got the tightest parallel park, forward, single. I've also got the triple parallel park.
00:25 I've got the reverse parallel park, so I'm quite good at parking. I'm in the tightest gap, three on two wheels.
00:30 And this, if we get this record today, it will be the narrowest gap to complete a 360 degree spin.
00:38 COMMENTATOR 1 - To achieve this record, Alistair will drive between two rows of parked cars,
00:43 perform a full 360 degree spin and continue driving without touching the stationary vehicles.
00:52 The current record took place in a gap of just 2.5 metres, longer than the driver's car.
00:58 Alistair will be attempting to shave 25 centimetres off this record.
01:03 ALISTAIR MOFFAT - I've been practising for today's record for quite a few months and it's been quite successful.
01:10 Only a few little nudges along the way.
01:13 So the rehearsal's gone pretty well. Yeah, it's obviously going to be a lot different in front of a live audience.
01:21 But yeah, it's gone pretty well.
01:23 The record was held by a front wheel drive car before and I'm in a rear wheel drive car,
01:27 so it will be done slightly differently to how it has been done in the past.
01:32 And Guinness have approved that method of doing the actual record attempt.
01:37 COMMENTATOR 1 - He'll be driving a Subaru BRZ for his record attempt.
01:42 The only modification to the car is that all the electronic systems, such as traction control, have been disabled.
01:48 ALISTAIR MOFFAT - Just ripped a load of fuses out of it and nothing works, apart from the steering wheel and the clutch and brake really.
01:53 It's quite nerve-wracking. It's very tunnel vision in there with a lot of lighting and that,
02:04 so it's not so much achieving it, it's doing it in a big pressure environment, so yeah, pretty nervous.
02:11 COMMENTATOR 2 - Now what Alistair needs is your encouragement, your applause, cheers, shouts, screams.
02:17 The parked cars have been set, the distance between them has been measured.
02:21 It's time for Alistair to go for the record.
02:24 Alistair has broken the record in front of the crowd, but for his official record attempt,
02:36 he has to do it one more time under controlled conditions.
02:42 The gap is measured, the car is measured and the distance is confirmed at 2.25 metres longer than the Subaru.
02:52 At first, things don't quite work out.
02:57 But eventually, he succeeds.
03:10 (BRAKES SQUEAL)
03:13 The footage will now be sent to Guinness so his record can be verified.
03:18 I welcome a challenger. Let's have it!
