01:05 Joining us today is a special guest, the incredibly talented German singer Cassandra Meyers-Pittman,
01:11 whose soulful renditions of Hindi songs, especially the bhajans, ahead of the Ram Mandir consecration
01:17 have taken the internet by storm.
01:20 Cassandra, it's truly a pleasure to have you on the show.
01:23 How are you doing?
01:24 Hello, I'm fine.
01:26 I'm also very happy to be here and I hope you're also doing well.
01:30 Yes, I'm doing well.
01:32 Thank you.
01:33 Now Cassandra, what's truly unique about your musical journey is that your inclination towards
01:39 Hindi songs, right?
01:40 Can you tell us how you developed an interest in this genre and what inspired you to explore
01:46 it being a German citizen?
01:48 Wow, so I actually discovered Indian music itself at first in the US and I was so, I
01:56 felt so awestruck by that that I had to research as soon as I got back home.
02:02 And yeah, then I found Bollywood songs at first and tried to learn some couple of phrases
02:09 and words in Hindi to actually get the language and pronunciation right because I wanted to
02:14 sing along to the songs.
02:16 And yeah, I listened to many songs and then I dared to, I finally dared to sing them on
02:23 social media also and gained some recognition.
02:27 Wow, that's the hunger for learning Cassandra.
02:31 That's fascinating.
02:32 Can you share with our audience some of your favourite Hindi songs or artists that have
02:37 left a lasting impact on you?
02:39 Wow, so in general, a lot of Mageshkar songs like Jagalee, of course.
02:46 Yeah, or Aapki Nazroome Samja.
02:50 Yeah, so it's really hard to sing these kind of songs, but they have so much emotion involved.
02:58 So yeah, I don't know.
03:01 And of course, modern day songs as well, like any modern day Bollywood song, romantic song,
03:07 I like actually.
