Ohio State Buckeyes' Jamison Battle said he needs to be more vocal and focus on the little details more.

00:00 >> I asked him what the difference is that separates teams in the final minutes
00:03 when it's close and then it's late.
00:04 And he said it's experience.
00:06 Does this team have enough experience to close out a game like this?
00:09 >> Yeah, I think so.
00:10 And I think the thing is we're still learning, we're still growing.
00:12 There's still a lot of young pieces on this team and
00:13 there's still, there's older guys on this team who have experience.
00:16 And I think that's on me to show that experience.
00:19 Regardless if I haven't won a lot of big tech games,
00:21 I still feel like I've played in a lot of beautiful ones and
00:23 played in a lot of big tech games.
00:24 So for me, I'll take the responsibility in that aspect where I'm gonna be a leader
00:28 in that regard, and in the end, we have plenty of experience.
00:31 And I think that's the one thing where we just have to trust it.
00:34 And in that, we have to understand that with that experience,
00:37 it's like we've learned from what we've had scars,
00:39 regardless if I was here last year or not.
00:41 There's plenty of experience on this team.
00:42 >> And you guys were up 56-52, about six to play, and
00:45 they outscored you 19-4 the rest of the way.
00:47 What changed at that point?
00:49 What did they have?
00:49 What did you not have?
00:50 How did you see those last six minutes?
00:52 >> Yeah, I think it's like you said, they had the experience,
00:54 and they had those guys.
00:55 Kudos to Tyler, kudos to Max, and the way they played,
00:58 the way they finished on the stretch.
01:00 But in the end, they just all worked.
01:01 That's not a physical lesson.
01:02 They showed them that scoreline.
01:04 And in the end, that's where we have to get better, finishing games.
01:07 And when things are getting tough and when things are getting rough,
01:09 we have to come together and want it more.
01:11 I think that's what the challenge is for us to step up for this next game.
01:15 And I think we're all gonna be ready.
01:16 We're all gonna be hungry for that challenge.
01:17 >> It's common to have some good perimeter defense moments throughout the game.
01:22 In that first half, obviously, you had to create your own shot a little bit.
01:24 But what did they do in the second half to kind of take you out a little bit?
01:28 >> Yeah, I think it's just their physicality.
01:29 And that's the Wisconsin brand of basketball that they've played since I've
01:32 been in the Big Ten, and since Coach Carr's been there.
01:34 It's the physicality that they bring.
01:35 And I think that's what ultimately led to our good fall and led to our downfall.
01:39 But in the end, I think we can be just as physical as any team,
01:42 like Wisconsin in the Big Ten as well.
01:44 And I think that's what we have to work on, and I think that's what we will work on.
01:47 And in the end, watching the film, we'll see it, and we'll correct those mistakes,
01:50 and we'll get better and learn from it.
01:52 >> Jason, defensively, what was the biggest challenge in the second half when
01:55 the Clemson started to get going?
01:56 >> Yeah, I think it just started to get going.
01:58 I felt like I remember when he hit a pull up on the range, right in the free throw line,
02:01 and I was right there, and he just made it.
02:02 And I think that's when people get in the zone, and he was obviously in the zone.
02:05 So kudos to him, kudos to Max, and we'll just go out here and
02:09 learn from what we did and what we didn't do.
02:10 And there's nothing that we can do if someone's in the zone.
02:13 We can try to contain them.
02:14 We were there a lot of times, and in the end, he just was feeling it.
02:20 >> To Adam's question about closing out games, does it feel like there have been
02:24 the same things going on in some of these games, even the ones that you've been able
02:28 to win, when Leeds had disappeared in the second half?
02:31 >> I wouldn't say as much as that.
02:33 I would say it's a collection of different things, and
02:35 I think the biggest thing for us to close out the game is focusing on the little
02:37 details, and I think that for someone who's been a fifth year and
02:41 who understands that, I'm more vocal about that.
02:43 And I'll take the responsibility in that aspect, but I think that's the biggest
02:47 thing is just honing in on those little details, because in the end,
02:50 those little details ultimately lead to big things, and that big thing is losing
02:53 games, so if we focus on those details, whether it's boxing out, rebound,
02:56 being in that position for the ice, stuff like that, where those little things are
03:00 sure to, that's where games are won and games are lost.
