00:00 The National Selection will be held this March
00:06 to determine the number of participants in the 22nd Asian Cadet Juniors and Under 21 Championship
00:12 that will be held in the country.
00:14 This is Bernadette Tinoy of TPP Sports.
00:18 After the announcement of the Karate Pilipinas Sports Federation
00:22 that will be held in the country this August,
00:24 the 22nd Asian Cadet Juniors and Under 21 Championships,
00:28 Karate Pilipinas President Richard Lim clarified
00:31 that they will not yet announce the number of athletes
00:34 who will be part of the national opponent
00:36 because they are still preparing for the National Selection this March.
00:40 We have a few players that are almost sure already
00:44 that will be representing and competing.
00:47 But again, it will be assessed after the National Selection on the 1st of March.
00:53 Richard also gave a big opportunity for the players
00:57 to play the tournament.
00:59 This is part of the program of the Federation
01:03 to make sure that our youth will benefit from this
01:07 because they will be the future senior national team
01:11 that will represent us in the SEA Games, Asian Games and Olympics.
01:15 Even if the Asian Cadet Juniors and Under 21 Championships will be successful in the country,
01:19 Richard said that the World Youth Championships
01:22 in the Philippines will not be far from now.
01:25 If things go well with these Asian Championships,
01:29 we might host the World Youth.
01:31 So we're looking forward to that.
01:33 So I hope it turns out well because the IF President,
01:37 the IF President of World Karate Federation
01:39 and the Asian Karate Federation President
01:41 will be here during the Championships to observe.
01:44 The National Selection will be held from March 1 to 3
01:48 at the Tagaytay Combat Sports Center.
