In the early hours of January 21, a petite asteroid streaked through the sky, entering Earth's atmosphere in the vicinity of Berlin, Germany. As it penetrated the atmosphere, the asteroid detonated mid-air, generating a brilliant but harmless fireball visible for miles. Astronomer Krisztián Sárneczky, also known as an asteroid hunter, first detected the asteroid, named 2024 BXI. Sárneczky, stationed at the Piszkéstető Mountain Station within the Konkoly Observatory in Hungary, utilised the observatory's 60-cm Schmidt telescope to identify the celestial object. Following the asteroid's discovery, NASA promptly issued a comprehensive forecast detailing the meteor's impact location and time.

00:00 In the early hours of January 21, a petite asteroid streaked through the sky, entering
00:05 Earth's atmosphere in the vicinity of Berlin, Germany.
00:09 As it penetrated the atmosphere, the asteroid detonated midair, generating a brilliant but
00:14 harmless fireball visible for miles.
00:16 Astronomer Kryzyszyn Sanecki, also known as an asteroid hunter, first detected the asteroid,
00:23 named 2024 B11, Sanecki stationed at the Piskesteto mountain station within the Konkoli Observatory
00:31 in Hungary, utilised the observatory's 60cm Smith telescope to identify the celestial
00:36 object.
00:37 Following the asteroid's discovery, NASA promptly issued a comprehensive forecast detailing
00:41 the meteor's impact location and time.
00:44 Following the tweet on X, it garnered more than 1 lakh likes and over 1,400 comments
00:48 with numerous expressions of astonishment at the spectacle of the exploding space rock.
00:54 One individual expressed, "Incredible footage.
00:56 Really enjoyed watching.
00:57 Thank you for posting."
00:59 Another commented, "Wow.
01:01 Great video.
01:02 Amazing capture."
01:03 A third observer noted, "Look at the reflection in the water at the bottom left of the screen.
01:07 It was close.
01:08 Thank God it did not land."
01:09 A fourth shared, "Wow.
01:11 This is amazing."
01:12 This event marked the eighth instance of an asteroid being discovered before impacting
01:16 our planet and notably it was the third time that Krytsen Sanecki made such a finding,
01:21 as reported by the New York Post.
01:23 The asteroid hunter had previously discovered a space rock that struck north of Iceland
01:27 in 2022 and one that exploded over the English Channel during last year's Super Bowl.
01:32 Importantly, the next potential hazardous collision is projected for 2182, with a 1
01:37 in 2,700 chance that a small near-Earth asteroid named Bennu could enter the atmosphere.
01:42 It is not known when the asteroid will hit the Earth.
