00:00 "Sex and the City" is heading to HBO's biggest streaming rival.
00:03 All six seasons of the Emmy-winning series are set to stream on Netflix for the first time.
00:08 The licensing deal is part of a content agreement that HBO's parent company,
00:11 Warner Bros. Discovery, made with Netflix last July,
00:14 but "Sex and the City" was not originally announced as part of that package.
00:17 The series launched in 1998 and starred Sarah Jessica Parker,
00:21 Kristen Davis, Cynthia Nixon, and Kim Cattrall as four friends in New York City.
00:25 "I've been dating since I was 15. I'm exhausted. Where is he?"
00:29 "Who? The White Knight? That only happens in fairy tales. My hair hurts."
00:33 While Netflix is getting all 94 episodes of the original show,
00:37 the streamer is not getting the "Sex and the City" movies or its current sequel series,
00:41 and just like that, at least not yet.
00:43 This is hardly the first time HBO has licensed the show,
00:46 as "Sex and the City" has previously been on Broadcast Syndication,
00:49 Basic Cable, and even Amazon Prime.
00:51 But what makes this news notable is that HBO had avoided letting Netflix license
00:54 its shows until last year. Other HBO shows that were previously
00:58 announced as part of the content agreement with Netflix include Band of Brothers,
01:01 The Pacific, Six Feet Under, Ballers, Insecure, and True Blood.
