00:03 Yeah, tough match for me tonight.
00:05 Overall, a positive tournament.
00:08 I had chances in both sets, but she played better tonight.
00:12 I felt like I did my best with the game plan that I had.
00:18 I think it just came down to a couple of points,
00:20 and that's tennis.
00:23 What was the difference in her game
00:25 tonight compared with the US Open?
00:27 She really-- I know she attacked your second serve quite a lot.
00:31 Yeah, I think she served better.
00:35 US Open, she made less errors, but also I
00:39 feel like I played a little bit more aggressive this time.
00:42 So US Open, I felt like, wasn't a great match for me.
00:48 And yes, I won.
00:50 I think I played better tonight.
00:52 I wish I could have made more first serves.
00:56 I think that was the difference.
00:57 She had a higher first serve percentage,
00:59 and it's tough to also go for the second
01:04 when you double faulted a couple of times.
01:06 But I don't think that wasn't the fault either,
01:09 because I put myself in the position.
01:10 I cleaned up the first set, put myself in the position
01:13 to serve out the set.
01:15 At the end of the day, it came down to a couple of points,
01:17 same in the second.
01:19 Maybe if I get that whole F4 all, it's a different match.
01:23 Yeah, and a lot of positives to take.
01:26 I felt like-- like today, I didn't feel like I played bad.
01:29 I just felt like there were certain points
01:31 that I just didn't win, which I prefer this match
01:35 over the last match that I played.
01:36 So it's tough with the result, but I'm
01:39 trying to look at the positives.
01:42 Cook, are you still having fun?
01:44 Following on the gentleman's question,
01:46 you're still so young.
01:47 This is a long-term career.
01:49 Are you still having fun?
01:50 Yeah, I am having fun.
01:53 I feel like if I ever get to a moment where I stop having fun,
01:57 I would take a break.
01:58 But yeah, I am.
02:00 And there was a couple points in the match where I'm always
02:04 having fun generally, but you're so competitive.
02:06 But there was a couple of shots where I was just like,
02:08 this is fun.
02:09 This atmosphere is fun.
02:10 And I want to enjoy it as long as possible.
02:14 And yeah, I think for me, the most important thing
02:17 is to continue that, having fun.
02:19 And even though tonight I lost, it was still
02:22 a great competitive match.
02:23 And I watched these matches growing up,
02:27 and watching Serena and watching Sharapova
02:30 lose these matches.
02:31 And it seems like when you're in it,
02:34 it feels like the end of the world.
02:36 But then when you look at history,
02:38 they didn't let one match define their career.
02:40 So I'm not going to let this match--
02:42 I'm going to dwell on it tonight.
02:44 But as Brad told me, as soon as the match is over,
02:47 the sun's going to rise tomorrow.
02:48 And you have a new chance to live a good day.
02:51 So tomorrow, I don't know, I'm going
02:53 to try to go to the movies or something, be proud of myself.
02:57 We don't know who Arena's going to play in the final.
02:59 But you're the person who's got closest to beating her
03:02 this week.
03:02 No one else has taken to a tie break.
03:04 What's it going to take to stop her on Saturday, do you think?
03:07 I mean, I don't know.
03:14 I feel like for me today, I was close.
03:17 And I was just taking care of those points.
03:19 I think you just need to take care of those points.
03:23 I mean, anything can happen in a Grand Slam final.
03:25 I do think from experience, the other two girls playing
03:29 their first final, it's going to be a different feeling.
03:33 I just feel like my first final, I was just so nervous.
03:36 So I think to win against her, you just
03:39 need to treat it like any other match
03:41 and not put so much weight on it.
03:44 And luckily, the other two girls are both pretty early
03:47 in their careers, 23.
03:48 And I think Quinn wins 20, if I'm not mistaken.
03:51 21?
03:51 20?
03:52 OK.
03:53 So yeah, I think they just have to get over the nerves.
03:56 I don't think Arena's going to go in there nervous.
03:58 She didn't play like it today.
04:00 So yeah, just get over your nerves.
04:02 I don't know the game plan.
04:05 And I do know a game plan, but I'm not
04:07 going to say it because it didn't work today.
04:10 (upbeat music)
