Luka Doncic got into it with a fan and a reporter, but when is it appropriate for an NBA player to ask for a spectator to be dismissed?

00:00 Luka Doncic had an issue with a fan and a reporter.
00:03 You know, the fan got thrown out,
00:04 and then the reporter asked him about it.
00:06 And apparently Luka wasn't happy
00:08 that the guy said he wasn't in that great of shape.
00:10 I hope the comments were actually worse than that.
00:12 But what do you make of the seeming pattern
00:15 that we have of NBA players
00:17 kind of getting fans tossed out of games?
00:19 - Well, first off, I don't think it's NBA players
00:23 getting fans tossed out of games.
00:25 I think it's fans getting fans tossed out of games.
00:28 Listen, you're there to be a spectator,
00:29 and yes, you can talk, and you can talk trash,
00:32 but there is a line.
00:33 And I feel like sometimes the lines get crossed,
00:35 where it's just like, if you saw that player in the street,
00:38 the stuff you're saying at the game,
00:39 you would never say to their face.
00:40 So you feel like you got a bit of protection
00:43 because there's so many fans there,
00:45 because security's there,
00:47 where if you say something crazy,
00:49 that the player not gonna put his hands on you.
00:52 But in reality, if they was outside,
00:54 they probably don't want you.
00:56 So it's just like, be there, cheer for your team,
00:59 boo, that's fine.
01:00 But the moment you cross a line, you gotta get outta here.
01:04 - Well, yeah, and the NBA is probably the sport
01:07 where the fans get the closest to the players.
01:09 But I do think there's a certain responsibility
01:12 on the players to only pull that card when necessary, right?
01:15 Like, if it was just the treadmill comment,
01:18 I don't think this guy should have gotten thrown out.
01:19 I'm not saying that is the case,
01:21 but you don't want to go down a road
01:23 where we're wondering if the line was in fact crossed,
01:25 because we don't have audio recordings,
01:27 we don't have the quote-unquote evidence for these things.
01:30 So I'm with you.
01:32 I think when the fan goes too far,
01:33 the players are well within their rights
01:35 to say, "Get this guy outta here."
01:37 But I think it's on the players to make sure
01:39 they don't abuse that, in a sense,
01:41 just like the fans who are abusing their ticket purchase
01:45 do to get themselves tossed.
01:47 - And I don't think that they do,
01:48 because, I mean, it's not like
01:50 you're getting this every game.
01:52 It's not like Luka's kicking a fan out every single game.
01:54 And I'm sure in any time he plays in any arena
01:57 that's not in Dallas, he's getting trash-talked by the fans.
02:01 But once you say something that's out of pocket,
02:04 all right, I can't put my hands on you.
02:06 At the very least, I'm sending you back to the parking lot.
