00:25 You've been gone so long, all that you know
00:30 Has been shuffled aside as I'm basking with glee
00:36 Other beautiful strangers, they whisper your name
00:42 And they fill up the emptiness
00:49 Larger than life is your fiction
00:54 In a universe made up of one
01:01 You have been drifting for so long
01:07 I know you don't want to come down
01:13 Somewhere below you there's people alive
01:19 And they're ready for you to come home
01:25 Please come home
01:29 [Music]
01:38 You walk the earth and the world stops to stare
01:44 You mesmerize all who are caught in the glare
01:49 Of the spotlight that follows wherever you go
01:56 Does it light up the emptiness?
02:02 Larger than life is your fiction
02:08 In a universe made up of one
02:18 You have been drifting for so long
02:24 I know you don't want to come down
02:30 Somewhere below you there's people hurrying
02:36 And they're ready for you to come home
02:42 Please come home
02:48 Please come home
02:52 [Music]
03:21 [Applause]
03:45 Thank you.
03:47 [Applause]
03:54 Well, so much has happened and changed in the last number of years
03:58 since we've seen each other last.
04:01 The world has become a smaller and scarier place in a lot of ways.
04:06 For me personally, a really positive thing,
04:08 I had a little baby girl a couple of years ago.
04:10 [Applause]
04:13 Thank you.
04:14 And she is totally and completely the joy of our lives.
04:18 She is incredible and we're very lucky.
04:20 She comes everywhere with us.
04:22 She probably has more frequent flyer miles than most adults I know
04:26 at the ripe age of two and a quarter.
04:28 And she's just fantastic.
04:32 It's a huge, huge change in your life to become a parent.
04:36 And I was pregnant for the most of the part
04:38 while I was writing this latest record.
04:40 And, you know, I got most of it done before I had her
04:43 knowing that she'd be a huge distraction.
04:45 And she is in the best of ways.
04:49 But it really changes your world in every way imaginable.
04:54 I lost my mind for a little while.
04:56 I really did.
04:58 I sort of felt like--I breastfed.
05:01 And every time she latched on,
05:03 a little bit of my brain seeped out through the booby-loop.
05:06 [Laughter]
05:08 And I'm still waiting for it to come back.
05:10 I'd say it does, but I don't know.
05:13 And it's a real challenging time,
05:15 even for the strongest of relationships.
05:18 And I sort of felt like my husband got the SHIT
05:22 into the stick there for a while.
05:24 And I have to spell it out these days
05:27 because I'm trying to curb my potty mouth.
05:29 Just the other day, my little girl looked up at me and said,
05:32 "God damn it, Mommy."
05:34 [Laughter]
05:37 I thought, "Oh, no, I've been trying to be so good."
05:39 Obviously, it's not working out very well.
05:41 So I'm curbing the potty mouth.
05:43 But my husband, my loving, dear, patient husband,
05:46 who put up with me through all this insanity,
05:50 I thought I'd better do something really nice for him.
05:54 So I wrote him a love song.
05:57 And for the first time in my career,
05:59 I managed to write a happy one.
06:01 [Laughter]
06:03 So here's my apology.
