00:00 And just proved what Coachman precinct just work.
00:03 Just hustle, hustle, hustle.
00:04 And I feel like we did a wonderful job at it.
00:06 But we still came up short with the turnovers and everything.
00:09 >> Yeah, you guys got out on I think they were like one of 17.
00:13 You guys were up by 10 at one point kind of what was the beginning of that game?
00:16 Like you guys hadn't led the other two games at all and
00:18 then you got off to a good start and obviously kept the crowd in the game,
00:21 kept yourselves in the game.
00:22 >> I feel like we changed the offense up.
00:26 We knew where our shots were gonna be.
00:28 I feel like guys was comfortable out there and in their position.
00:32 I feel like we made the right reads in the first half and
00:36 we got the big lead and just kept on.
00:39 Our offense was keep on pushing us to our defense.
00:43 And we had the defense rocking and rolling in the first ten minutes.
00:45 >> That hard and leave it all out there and
00:49 then but Kentucky's able to make a run late.
00:52 Just how disappointing is that?
00:54 >> It's very disappointing.
00:56 We gotta capitalize on every moment.
00:58 Every possession matters as you see out there.
01:01 I feel like Kentucky is a great team.
01:04 I feel like we should have won tonight.
01:06 We just gotta take better care of the ball.
01:10 >> Physicality standpoint inside between you and Makai.
01:15 Did y'all talk about in practice or
01:17 a lead up that y'all might have an advantage physically on the front line?
01:22 >> Man, coach had a meeting with me.
01:23 I know he said just go out there and rebound and
01:27 make sure you're the big stuff.
01:29 I know like the Ole Miss we got our rebound.
01:30 I feel like my job was not just to rebound me and Kai.
01:33 And I feel like we did a great job just leading the team in rebounds.
01:37 >> Follow up on the defensive strategy.
01:40 This is a high town offense.
01:41 Was the plan always to try to grind this down into a low position, low score game?
01:46 >> No, we just wanna take every coach wanna play every time,
01:50 get the right play set for mismatch.
01:54 I feel like at the end we got a little carry away with it.
01:57 I feel like should have kept on running more sets and still ice over ball.
02:01 I feel like, well, no, it's learning.
02:03 It's learning now.
02:04 I feel like we're gonna learn from this.
02:06 We're gonna grow and we're gonna look at the film and practice hard and
02:09 just get ready for Missouri.
02:10 >> At the end that you mentioned, was it anything specifically Kentucky might have
02:16 changed or just some sloppy play on y'all's part?
02:19 >> I mean, we knew they chopped the ball screen.
02:22 I feel like he tried to throw it between two guys in the short row.
02:26 I feel like it been working the whole game, but it's just that the matter of
02:30 point, those guys, they caught on to what it was doing.
02:33 >> Second straight game, you guys struggle offensively.
02:37 I mean, do you feel like it, does it wear on you in the game when the shots aren't
02:40 falling and it's kind of the offense is in the mud a little bit?
02:44 Or does it not really dawn on you till after the game and everything?
02:47 >> I mean, I see the guys' faces.
02:49 When shots not going in, it reflects on their defense.
02:52 I feel like we gotta just keep on pushing when we miss shots.
02:56 You're not gonna always have a great offensive night, but
02:59 your defense is gonna always win games.
03:00 >> Defense right there, you said earlier, was rocking and rolling early.
03:04 Just was there anything y'all were doing differently defensively to kind of slow
03:08 them down?
03:09 >> I mean, we was just playing together, just talking to one another,
03:12 just having each other back, contesting at the rim, no free layups, and
03:16 probably no open threes.
03:17 They didn't really have too many threes in the beginning.
03:20 I feel like they got too many in the second half.
03:24 >> Or one and six in SEC play, but the way y'all played tonight was,
03:27 is this something you can maybe build on?
03:28 Do you think is the morale, I mean, obviously you don't like to lose, but
03:31 it gets a lot, they haven't lost a locker room, I guess.
03:35 Like, are y'all still kind of fighting and
03:36 you think it'd be something you could build on?
03:38 >> Of course, we can build on this.
03:40 I know we don't wanna celebrate no more victories.
03:43 I feel like we should have won.
03:44 I know we won in the rebound and hustle.
03:48 No, that's the area we've been like, look lost at.
03:52 I feel like we getting our chemistry back and
03:55 I feel like we gaining our trust with each other.
03:57 >> I think Kentucky, like I said, they really struggled early,
04:02 one to 17, but then late they were hitting threes.
04:04 I mean, just what would you think of that?
04:06 I guess you just have to give them credit cuz they're obviously a great team.
04:09 >> I feel like they just kept on winning their sets and
04:12 I feel like we just gotta just pay more attention to details to the more of
04:18 the shooters and get out there and make them drive and put on the floor more.
04:21 I feel like we lost details to the shooters.
04:24 >> That's his best game in a while.
04:27 What do you think of McKay's game?
04:28 How good was it after Monbat?
04:29 >> Kay, he been having some frustration with himself.
04:38 I know he proud of himself tonight.
04:40 He got a double-double.
04:41 Coach been honest about rebound.
04:43 I feel like my focus out there go to rebound and let the offense gang come to him.
04:47 >> I'm wondering how this one feels in the locker room compared to maybe,
04:54 and I like earlier this week where you're not really in it in the fourth quarter.
04:57 Emotionally in the locker room, how much different is that?
05:00 >> Man, a loss is a loss, but we got something to cheer about because we
05:05 didn't lose in every area tonight, in every category.
05:09 As rebounding and the hustle points, I feel like it's a lot to learn.
05:13 Still, we still learning what we need to do best for the team and
05:18 we're gonna get this thing back rolling.
05:19 >> But you felt like late,
05:23 you all should have stuck with maybe more sets instead of going iso ball.
05:26 Was that something that just kind of happened in the flow of the game or
05:28 is that something being called from the sideline or what happened there?
05:31 >> It's just something in the flow of the game.
05:33 Guys feel like they can take their man.
05:36 I feel like we just gotta pay attention to much more and read, go off of him.
05:40 And I feel like guys just got just in the flow of the game.
05:45 It really no play call on the sideline.
05:47 It's just on us on the floor.
