00:00 in Jesus name. Everybody say
00:05 Hebrews chapter twelve. Hebrews
00:06 chapter twelve. Don't sit down
00:07 yet. I promise you're going to
00:08 sit down in a minute. I know. I
00:09 know but you wore those shoes.
00:10 You did it. Gotta bring your
00:14 comfortable shoes to social.
00:16 Uh we're going to look at
00:17 Hebrews chapter number twelve.
00:19 This is our verse for the year
00:22 that has our word for the year
00:24 and now our song for the year.
00:29 Let's read it as one big family
00:31 today. You're going to have it
00:32 memorized by the end of 2024
00:34 but let's read it together.
00:35 You ready? Do you see what we've
00:38 got? An unshakable kingdom and
00:42 do you see how thankful we must
00:45 be? Not only thankful but
00:48 brimming with worship. Deeply
00:51 reverent before god. For god is
00:54 not an indifferent bystander.
00:56 He's an actively cleaning house
00:59 torching all that needs to burn
01:02 and he won't quit until it's all
01:05 cleansed. God himself is fire.
01:11 Y'all getting good. You're
01:14 getting good and good every
01:15 week. Y'all even do it the
01:18 himself. That's how you say it.
01:20 God himself is fire. So, uh do
01:24 you see what it says though? Do
01:26 you see what we've got in the
01:27 unshakable kingdom and do you
01:28 see how? How what? We must be
01:34 and not only that word right
01:38 there kept shouting at me all
01:41 week and it took me to our text
01:43 for today which is found in the
01:45 gospel according to Luke chapter
01:47 number seventeen. Let's look at
01:48 this. This is the only story
01:51 that Luke records. Not Mark,
01:53 not Matthew, not John. Luke is
01:55 the only one to record this
01:56 story, this miracle and it says
01:58 now on his way that he is Jesus
02:01 to Jerusalem. Jesus traveled
02:03 along the border between Samaria
02:05 and Galilee as he was going into
02:07 a village. Ten men who had
02:09 leprosy met him. They stood at a
02:12 distance and called out in a
02:13 loud voice. Jesus master have
02:18 pity on us. When he saw them, he
02:22 said, show yourself to the
02:25 priest and as they went, they
02:28 were cleansed. One of them, one
02:34 of them. When he saw he was
02:36 healed, came back praising god
02:39 in a loud voice. He threw
02:41 himself at Jesus feet and
02:43 thanked him and he was a
02:45 Samaritan. Jesus asked, we're
02:49 not all ten. Now, you know
02:51 what? He don't need
02:52 information. We're not all ten
02:57 cleansed. Where in the world
03:01 are the other nine? Has no one
03:04 returned to praise to give
03:07 praise to god except this
03:09 foreigner? Then he said to him,
03:12 rise and go. Your faith has
03:17 made you well. That some good
03:24 stuff. Only one returned to
03:29 give thanks. It's almost like
03:32 the rest of them gave me the
03:34 title for my sermon. I want to
03:36 preach you today for about 48
03:40 minutes. from this thought,
03:44 I want to say thanks but no
03:47 thanks. Thanks but no thanks.
03:51 Look at your neighbor whichever
03:52 one you like the best and just
03:54 say neighbor. Thanks but no
03:57 thanks. Look at your other
03:59 neighbor. The one you ignored.
04:00 Come on. Say other neighbor.
04:02 You're my second option. I just
04:05 want to say thanks but no
04:08 thanks. Before you sit down,
04:10 can we welcome all of our
04:12 friends that are watching this
04:14 on Pando, all of our social
04:16 global family. Come on. Don't
04:18 stop clapping. Our echo
04:20 location that's going to be
04:21 launching on Super Bowl Sunday.
04:23 Shout out echo.
04:26 Father speak today. Amen. You
04:30 may be seated in the presence
04:32 of the lord. Thanks. but no
04:37 thanks.
04:40 Not long ago, myself and PT
04:45 went to a restaurant to eat and
04:48 we did what we always do. We
04:49 went to the hostess and said,
04:51 uh Madhu party of five and the
04:53 hostess, she was so kind. She
04:55 said, oh my goodness. She said
04:57 your family is so so beautiful.
04:59 She said, your kids are so
05:01 cute and then she gave the
05:02 suggestion. Y'all should have
05:04 one more
05:07 which I immediately said,
05:10 thanks but no thanks. I am
05:12 good. I am good with the
05:14 contribution that we have made
05:16 to the human population. Uh we
05:18 have three kids, three kids as
05:20 you've often heard me say,
05:21 three little humans who I love
05:23 with every fiber of my being.
05:25 My oldest daughter, Evie is 9
05:28 years old. My youngest daughter
05:30 Remington call her Remi Ma.
05:32 She is 6 years old and then
05:35 in the middle, my man child,
05:37 my namesake Robert Madhu the
05:39 third who turned 8 years old
05:41 yesterday.
05:44 That's my boy. So yesterday was
05:48 awesome. We had a great family
05:49 day. We did whatever he wanted
05:51 to do. Went to the movies. I
05:52 got him every single Lego that
05:55 he wanted. Okay. So that was
05:57 he's in a Lego season. So we
05:58 got all his Legos but as I was
06:01 presenting all the Legos to him,
06:03 I kind of paused. I said, oh
06:05 lord, am I doing it again?
06:07 You're wondering what it again
06:09 is. I had a flashback of a
06:12 different season in our life.
06:14 You have to know that before we
06:15 planted this church, I had an
06:17 itinerant ministry. I traveled
06:18 for 16 years to different
06:21 churches around the world
06:22 preaching the gospel before we
06:23 ever planted this church for
06:25 16 years living out of a
06:26 suitcase, traveling, and
06:28 preaching and it was it was
06:29 great when I was single. It
06:30 was great when we first got
06:31 married to travel together but
06:33 when we had our firstborn
06:35 daughter, things changed. When
06:37 I had to leave my wife and my
06:40 baby girl for the first time to
06:42 go preach, y'all, I was an
06:43 emotional mess and so as she
06:45 got older, I said, you know
06:46 what? I don't want her toddler
06:48 brain to cognitively associate
06:51 daddy leaving as a bad thing.
06:53 So, I came up with a plan. I
06:55 said, every time I leave, I'm
06:56 going to come back with a gift.
06:58 Just a little gift so she'll
06:59 know daddy got you. I still
07:01 kind of bless them and spoil
07:02 the girls especially because I
07:03 don't want no dude in the
07:04 future giving her some gift and
07:06 her being shocked by anything.
07:10 Anyway, I digress. So, I always
07:13 came back. I always came back
07:15 with a gift. It was the joy of
07:16 my life, y'all. I would preach.
07:17 I would come in the door. The
07:18 best feeling as a dad to walk
07:19 in your house and just to hear
07:21 the excitement, daddy, daddy,
07:23 and she would come up to me,
07:24 walk up, give me a big kiss and
07:26 a big hug and I say, hold on.
07:27 Let me get you a surprise. I
07:28 would go to my bag, give her
07:29 her surprise. This happened for
07:31 several weeks. It was amazing.
07:34 It was beautiful until one day.
07:37 It was a dark day. I will never
07:40 forget this day. Matter of fact,
07:41 it was raining this day. I came
07:43 home in my usual fashion. I
07:45 walked in. I could not wait to
07:47 hear the hooray from my baby
07:49 girl. Daddy is home and this
07:51 little girl walked right past
07:54 me. I said, what? Went straight
07:57 to my bag. Open the zipper and
08:02 started rummaging through the
08:04 bag. Have you ever been so
08:05 shocked that you just stop and
08:06 stare at what you're looking at
08:08 and I stopped and I just was
08:10 staring at her and after she
08:11 rummaged and pillaged, I would
08:13 say through my bag for the
08:14 longest, she finally looked up
08:16 and I'm not kidding with the
08:17 vocal intonation of frustration
08:19 said, daddy, where's my
08:21 surprise? To which I was like,
08:24 oh, I got your surprise. Y'all
08:27 my little daddy heart was
08:30 crushed and broken that day and
08:32 here's why it was broken. It
08:34 wasn't just because she went to
08:36 go look for the gift or the
08:38 surprise. I'm the one that
08:39 bought it. I wanted to give it
08:41 to her. I was hurt by how quick
08:44 she was rushing past the giver
08:48 to get the gift. Furthermore, I
08:53 wondered to what degree was I
08:55 culpable and responsible because
08:58 it was my consistent gift giving
09:02 that produced within her a sense
09:04 of entitlement. You have to be
09:08 careful when you get constants
09:10 in your life because how many
09:11 you know, it is the human
09:12 proclivity and propensity to
09:14 take constants for granted.
09:17 Often the casualty of
09:19 consistency is to take the
09:21 things that are consistent for
09:23 granted and to think that you
09:25 are entitled to it. That's why
09:27 many of us don't even stop to
09:28 praise God for the sun coming
09:30 up. You know why? Because you
09:32 just see it every single day,
09:34 but let us wake up one day and
09:35 it's just dark. I bet you start
09:37 trying to give God some praise
09:38 and say, God, what is up? It's
09:40 something about consistency and
09:43 the things that are constant
09:44 that we have the tendency to
09:46 take for granted and even worse,
09:48 we have a sense of entitlement
09:51 to it. Dr. Robert Lupton wrote a
09:54 book called Toxic Charity and in
09:56 that book, he actually
09:57 postulates the dangers of
10:00 charity and he outlines it in
10:02 different stages. He says, if
10:03 you give somebody something
10:05 once, you will elicit
10:07 appreciation. He said, if you
10:09 give somebody something twice,
10:11 you will then get anticipation.
10:13 If you give somebody something
10:15 three times, you will then
10:16 create expectation, but if you
10:19 give somebody something four
10:21 times, you will create a sense
10:24 of entitlement. They will think
10:27 they deserve it. Let me not get
10:30 too far ahead of myself today
10:32 because I want to let you know
10:33 that today's message, hear me
10:35 clearly, is about the need to
10:38 cultivate the discipline of
10:41 thanksgiving, the discipline of
10:44 being thankful. I know it's not
10:46 November, but just indulge me.
10:48 I want to talk about being
10:50 thankful today, being thankful
10:52 and to be honest, you might not
10:54 shout amen today. You might not
10:55 shout today because I didn't
10:56 shout when I was writing this
10:57 message and I always preach to
10:59 myself before I preach to y'all.
11:00 I was repenting when I wrote
11:02 this message today, so you
11:03 might not shout today, but
11:04 that's cool because I don't
11:05 want you to shout this year. I
11:07 want you to be unshakable this
11:09 year and hear me today, you
11:13 cannot be unshakable if you are
11:15 not thankful. You cannot live a
11:19 life that is unshakable if you
11:21 do not cultivate the discipline
11:23 of being thankful. Do you see
11:26 what we've got? An unshakable
11:29 kingdom and do you see how?
11:32 Hello? How? Thankful. We must
11:36 be, the writer of Hebrews is
11:38 connecting unshakable to being
11:41 thankful. You cannot be
11:43 unshakable unless you are
11:45 thankful. Elbow your neighbor
11:46 and say, I know this for you. I
11:48 know this for you. How? How do
11:52 we cultivate a life of being
11:54 thankful before I even talk
11:56 about being thankful and before
11:58 I even start pontificating on
11:59 how you need to have an
12:00 attitude of gratitude and
12:02 before I even tell you today
12:04 that there are over 400
12:06 scriptures in your Bible about
12:09 thanksgiving and gratitude
12:11 before I even tell you that the
12:13 insidious inception of sin in
12:16 the Garden of Eden was within
12:18 gratitude when the enemy got
12:20 them to focus not on all the
12:22 trees that they did have but he
12:24 honed in their attention on the
12:26 one tree that they didn't have
12:28 before I even give you all of
12:30 the scientific things that
12:32 substantiate how good gratitude
12:34 is to every single facet of
12:37 life before I tell you that the
12:39 apostle Paul warns us not just
12:41 in Romans chapter one but also
12:43 in second Timothy chapter three
12:45 that one of the signs one of the
12:47 blues clues if you will of the
12:49 last days will be a culture of
12:51 unthankfulness will be a culture
12:53 of ingratitude before I tell you
12:56 today that gratitude improves
12:58 your brain and your physical
12:59 health that gratitude helps you
13:01 sleep better at night that
13:03 gratitude is the antidote to
13:05 emotional emotion before I tell
13:07 you that gratitude improves
13:09 every relationship because your
13:11 heart will naturally gravitate
13:13 to those that appreciate you
13:15 before I tell you that gratitude
13:17 is the evidence of maturity
13:19 before I tell you that gratitude
13:21 is what pleases God and ushers
13:23 you into his presence and brings
13:25 blessing and favor on your life
13:27 before I tell you that it is not
13:29 joy that makes you grateful is
13:31 gratitude that makes you joyful
13:33 before I tell you any of that
13:35 I first have to talk about
13:37 the word I mentioned earlier
13:39 which is
13:41 entitlement
13:43 entitlement
13:45 there it is
13:47 entitlement
13:49 do you see how big it is on the
13:51 screen taking up every inch
13:53 that's what entitlement does
13:55 it takes up every
13:57 it thinks it's owed
13:59 that entire screen
14:01 you have to talk about
14:03 entitlement when you talk about
14:05 ingratitude because the two are
14:07 intrinsically connected you cannot
14:09 talk about being thankful and not talk
14:11 about entitlement because you will
14:13 never be thankful for what you
14:15 feel entitled to
14:17 you will
14:19 never show gratitude
14:21 for the things that you think
14:23 you deserve and can I tell you
14:25 there are a lot of spirits that are operating
14:27 in the world today but can I just let you
14:29 know there is one that is so
14:31 big in our culture today
14:33 it is the spirit of
14:35 entitlement it is that
14:37 cancerous thing that destroys
14:39 your soul where you think everybody
14:41 owes you something
14:43 it is the spirit of entitlement
14:45 ladies and gentlemen if God's
14:47 love language is gratitude
14:49 the enemy's love language is entitlement
14:51 that's why you have to
14:53 be careful when God blesses
14:55 you anybody blessed in here can I
14:57 see you blessed you blessed
14:59 alright you lifted up your hand you did it
15:01 you gotta be careful
15:03 when the blessing of God is on your life
15:05 when God favors you or gives you a title
15:07 or gives you position or gives you
15:09 influence or affluence because one of
15:11 the dangers of receiving the blessing
15:13 of God if that blessing is
15:15 not received with humility
15:17 and with a discipline of
15:21 gratitude the blessing
15:23 will produce within you a sense
15:25 of entitlement
15:27 it was Martin Luther who said
15:29 that the greater God's blessings are
15:31 given the less they are
15:33 regarded it was G.K.
15:35 Chesterton that said there are two
15:37 types of people those who take
15:39 things for granted and those who
15:41 take things with gratitude
15:43 this is the danger that all of us
15:45 can fall prey to that's why in
15:47 Deuteronomy chapter 8 when God
15:49 begins to speak to Moses and let the children
15:51 of Israel know you're gonna walk into
15:53 a blessing and favor and houses
15:55 that you did not build and vineyards
15:57 that you did not plant and they started getting
15:59 excited with all of that blessing that
16:01 was coming he says but be
16:03 careful that in that
16:05 you do not forget
16:07 the Lord your God
16:09 don't start thinking that it was you that
16:11 did it that it was your ingenuity that
16:13 it was your talent that it was your hand
16:15 that brought about the blessing and that's
16:17 what entitlement does
16:19 entitlement kills gratitude
16:21 entitlement is
16:23 different from hope or expectation
16:25 or believing the promises of God
16:27 entitlement is a
16:29 focused form of pride
16:31 that can only see
16:33 what you think you're owed
16:35 hope
16:37 says I expect
16:39 it entitlement
16:41 says I deserve
16:43 it
16:45 can I ask you something
16:47 can I get in your business
16:49 I'm gonna do it anyway
16:51 what do you think
16:53 you deserve
16:55 what do you think
16:59 you deserve
17:01 that is an important
17:03 question because connected
17:05 to that question well
17:07 let me know whether you have
17:09 gratitude or whether you have
17:11 entitlement what do you think
17:13 you deserve is it a title
17:15 is it a position
17:17 it's so funny church trips me out
17:19 people you'll see their entitlement with the
17:21 things that they say I've been coming to this church
17:23 since it started
17:25 they still ain't given me
17:27 a microphone to sing
17:29 oh is that what you think
17:31 you deserve it's
17:33 fun oh I'm getting in trouble with this message
17:35 because I don't
17:37 know how to not be real
17:39 I remember somebody had wanted me to do
17:41 wanted me to do their wedding and I would
17:43 have been happy to do it but the dates didn't work
17:45 that's when you planned it and I know you think
17:47 that everything revolves around you but
17:49 I couldn't do it and so I
17:51 declined and I got this
17:53 colorful email
17:55 back because I couldn't do the wedding
17:57 and in the email there were words I still
17:59 can't forget them that said I am a
18:01 tithing member of this
18:03 church and you can't
18:05 do my wedding I'm a tithing
18:07 member I was like oh that's
18:09 what you think you deserve
18:11 I miss that scripture that said bring your
18:13 tithe into the whole storehouse
18:15 because the pastor irrespective of the schedule
18:17 has to do yo
18:19 ain't nobody gonna say amen
18:21 that's alright
18:23 in
18:25 what do you think
18:27 you deserve what do you
18:29 think is owed to you that is an important
18:31 question because your sense of gratitude
18:33 or your sense of entitlement
18:35 hinges on your answer to that question
18:37 my friend pastor Rich Wilkerson
18:39 jr. who has an amazing church in Miami
18:41 I never forget the first time I visited their offices
18:43 he had something in his office
18:45 if I was a copier I would take it
18:47 and put it in my office but right
18:49 in his office I saw above
18:51 the door on the way out he had
18:53 this beautiful statement it said
18:55 this right here it says
18:57 nobody owes me anything
18:59 Jesus gave me everything
19:01 I say yo
19:03 if I was a
19:05 biter I would put that in my office
19:07 what a beautiful
19:09 reminder to walk out of your
19:11 office everyday and to go nobody
19:13 owes me anything because
19:15 Jesus gave me everything
19:17 and when you have a
19:19 sense of entitlement you walk around
19:21 and think that just because you
19:23 showed up somebody is supposed to
19:25 give you something but I'm telling you
19:27 if you want the blessing and the favor
19:29 of God on your life if you really want to be
19:31 unshakable you ought to live with that attitude
19:33 nobody owes me anything
19:35 because Jesus gave
19:37 me everything
19:39 ladies and gentlemen this is why entitled
19:41 people always lose but a
19:43 thankful person can't lose
19:45 because when you're entitled
19:47 you think you deserve so much
19:49 so you are perpetually disappointed
19:51 because you think people owe you something
19:53 but when you are thankful there is
19:55 no situation you can be in
19:57 and not win because you're just looking
19:59 for ways to be thankful if you lose
20:01 your job you say oh I really didn't want
20:03 to be here anyway maybe God has the job I've
20:05 been dreaming of or maybe I'm supposed to
20:07 start the business when somebody
20:09 walks away you say thank God they left
20:11 there must not have been God's will for my life
20:13 you must have my husband you must have my
20:15 real wife in the future when the
20:17 lights get turned off you know what I got
20:19 some bath and body candles I was
20:21 waiting the light I gotta thank
20:23 God in every situation
20:25 I wish I could see the
20:27 thankful people that are in here
20:29 if you're entitled you ain't gotta say nothing
20:31 but if you're one of those ride or die
20:33 I can't lose thankful
20:35 people I dare you to take like 15
20:37 seconds and give God the best
20:39 praise that you got
20:41 I'm thankful
20:43 I'm thankful
20:45 you don't have to wake me up this morning but you did
20:47 I'm thankful I get
20:49 to preach the gospel I'm thankful
20:51 people didn't have to show up
20:53 today I'm thankful I walked
20:55 in here I'm thankful
20:57 my heart is still beating in my chest
20:59 I'm thankful
21:01 we gotta
21:03 destroy this spirit
21:05 of entitlement
21:07 it is
21:09 a shame when you are
21:11 louder about your complaints
21:13 than you are about your praise
21:15 it's a
21:17 shame when everybody in your
21:19 office has to hear you "oh I can't
21:21 believe this" but they never heard you open up
21:23 your mouth and glorify God not
21:25 what?
21:27 complain and own the job
21:29 when some people are in an employment line
21:31 that's why I love 1 Thessalonians
21:33 chapter number 5 this verse right here
21:35 this gonna bless your life it would
21:37 spend I would spend all of my life just
21:39 trying to live out this verse right
21:41 here if this was the only scripture you did this
21:43 year if this was the only scripture you did this year
21:45 your life would be better look at what Paul says
21:47 rejoice
21:49 always! wait a minute
21:51 rejoice what? always!
21:53 ooooh that's some powerful stuff
21:55 right there that means no matter what I'm
21:57 going through joy is always in my reach
21:59 joy is a choice
22:01 it is a decision if you don't believe
22:03 me you better come with me this week
22:05 like we did and went into a hospital room
22:07 with Jessica and baby Isabella
22:09 joy who God is gonna heal
22:11 and cause to wake up out of that coma
22:13 but I watched Jessica who had
22:15 expectant faith but she still was
22:17 smiling in the room
22:19 she still had this peace and this joy
22:21 in spite of going through the battle
22:23 of her life
22:25 joy is always within my reach
22:27 that's what the bible teaches us
22:29 rejoice always
22:31 pray when?
22:33 continually
22:35 continually uh oh
22:37 here it goes give thanks
22:39 in
22:41 in
22:43 not for
22:45 in
22:47 cause I messed
22:49 some of y'all up earlier how am I supposed to praise God
22:51 if my lights get turned down
22:53 how am I supposed to praise God when I lost it
22:55 no I'm not praising him for it I got to thank him
22:57 in it
22:59 oh see
23:01 that's how you know you're
23:03 immature in your faith if you only thank
23:05 God for getting something
23:07 but if you ever mess around and start thanking God
23:09 in the prison
23:11 in the dungeon watch how all of a sudden
23:13 chains start breaking
23:15 and all of a sudden God's manifest
23:17 presence will step in the room like it did
23:19 with Paul and Silas because they developed
23:21 the maturity to say I don't just praise God
23:23 for what he does I thank
23:25 and praise God in
23:27 every
23:29 circumstance
23:31 I'm not thankful for the bad things
23:35 that happen but I'm thankful
23:37 in it because there's
23:39 something in it he must be
23:41 doing and this is the part that's going to jack you up
23:43 this is the part how come didn't nobody tell me this
23:45 verse earlier in my life
23:47 for this
23:49 is God's
23:51 will
23:55 for you in Christ Jesus
23:57 all them prayers you've been praying
23:59 I really need to know the will of God
24:01 I just know I don't know I just
24:09 I need his will for my life
24:11 would you just touch and agree that I know
24:15 his will
24:17 rejoice always
24:19 pray continually
24:21 give thanks in all
24:25 circumstances
24:27 that is his
24:29 will I want to know
24:31 do you have a prayer list but you don't got a thankful list
24:35 are you louder in your
24:43 complaints to God than you are
24:45 at the front worshiping God
24:47 what do we hear more if
24:51 you're louder in your complaints
24:53 than you are in your praise and your thanks
24:55 you might
24:57 have entitlement
24:59 see this is the part of the message
25:01 where everybody goes oh I know who this is
25:03 for girl let me text my
25:05 co-worker
25:07 cause I'm telling you my director report
25:09 that sense of entitlement I'm going to send
25:11 them the link to this message
25:13 but before
25:15 you text them which is cool
25:17 like subscribe and share
25:19 can you do the most
25:23 healthy thing and check yourself first
25:25 if you want to know an area in your life where you have
25:29 entitlement
25:31 listen to what you complain about
25:33 your complaints will tell you
25:37 where you have a sense of
25:39 entitlement your complaints
25:41 don't you hate a complainer
25:43 somebody like
25:45 I don't know if I want to say that cause
25:47 I complain
25:49 and I love me
25:51 one scientific study says that the average human
25:55 complains 15 to 30
25:57 times a day
25:59 verbal
26:01 expression of
26:03 frustration complaint
26:05 you know what I think complaining is like bad breath
26:09 just it
26:11 come on you ever woke up and you just having a good day and here's somebody
26:15 complaining you're like oh my god
26:17 oh really
26:19 nothing's going good
26:21 no my right toe I just saw
26:23 another wart on it really
26:25 yeah I checked web md I think
26:27 I'm going to die next week really
26:29 just blah
26:33 see I'm going to bless y'all I'm going to bless y'all
26:35 because oh if y'all steal my stuff
26:37 cause y'all family
26:39 I give you my ideas to me complaining
26:41 is like bad breath if you want
26:43 to check where
26:45 you have a sense of entitlement listen
26:47 to what you complain about and to
26:49 me complain is like bad breath so I have a solution
26:51 that I am releasing for the first time here
26:53 at social Dallas you will not find this at trader
26:55 Joe's you will not find this anywhere else
26:57 and if you steal my stuff I'm telling you
26:59 I'm going to come after you okay
27:01 this is for you when you complain
27:03 cause how many know sometimes you don't know when you have breath
27:05 bad breath
27:07 till a good friend tells you no take it
27:09 take the gun take the man
27:11 and if you got other people around you complaining
27:13 to this gonna bless you you ready give a good close up
27:15 camera man
27:17 I got some
27:19 don't steal it if y'all
27:23 steal my stuff
27:25 some
27:27 entitlements
27:29 this
27:31 is gonna help you
27:33 whenever you start complaining
27:35 whenever you start complaining or somebody around you
27:37 complains just get you a little entitlement
27:39 let me give you an example
27:41 how it works right
27:43 you and your car driving
27:45 there's traffic
27:47 you complain about traffic
27:53 you think you deserve to have a car
27:55 you know who doesn't complain about traffic
27:57 people that are walking
27:59 people that are walking
28:01 this message is good
28:05 my god
28:07 wait a minute
28:09 next time you
28:11 in line at your local
28:13 coffee shop and your
28:15 barista has the nerve
28:17 to mess up your order
28:19 I mean my goodness you were so clear
28:21 2% milk not oat
28:23 next time you wanna turn up your
28:27 I cannot this is wrong
28:29 ain't wrong you are
28:35 entitlement
28:37 2.2 billion people
28:39 in the world don't have access to clean water
28:41 you mad cause your milk was wrong
28:45 you need an entitlement
28:49 man
28:51 God does not inhabit
29:01 the complaints of his people
29:03 he inhabits thanksgiving
29:07 enter into his
29:09 before you even get to the door
29:13 the gate
29:15 is thanksgiving
29:17 the gate
29:19 of access to his presence
29:21 I wonder why I don't feel his presence
29:23 are you giving thanks
29:25 no wonder he's so distant
29:27 you complain
29:31 more than you praise
29:33 is this helping anybody today
29:35 oh that was my intro
29:45 brings me to my text today
29:47 I am intrigued with Luke 17
29:51 for many reasons
29:53 first of all this story that we read
29:55 is only found in the gospel of Luke
29:57 Dr. Luke
29:59 who will give us not only the book of Luke
30:01 but also gives us Acts
30:03 feels the need to talk about this unique
30:05 healing that Jesus does
30:07 with 10 lepers
30:09 it is not only unique to me
30:11 because Luke is the only one that writes about it
30:13 it's unique to me
30:15 because Jesus
30:17 is doing a group miracle
30:19 since when
30:21 does Jesus do miracles
30:23 to connect groups
30:25 you understand that when you study the gospels
30:29 most of the people that got a miracle
30:31 it was some individual that was desperate
30:33 a woman with an issue of blood who pressed her way
30:35 to the crowd, a man with a withered hand
30:37 even in Luke chapter 5
30:39 there is a leper but he is one
30:41 and he comes to Jesus
30:43 but this one trips me out because this is
30:45 a group miracle
30:47 somebody say group
30:49 a group of not one
30:51 not five
30:53 not eight
30:55 10 men
30:57 get
30:59 the same miracle
31:01 10 men
31:03 I wish I could make the bible come to life
31:05 I wish I had like 9 dudes who are waiting
31:07 side stage to come on stage
31:09 so we can make the bible come to life
31:11 for the ADD people
31:13 who about to fall asleep
31:15 oh there they are
31:17 yeah
31:19 come on
31:21 you see that walk
31:23 did somebody tell you to do that
31:25 I love that
31:27 look at
31:31 1, 2, 3
31:33 4, 5
31:35 6, 7
31:37 8, 9
31:39 10
31:41 could y'all come closer
31:43 like let's get in a group
31:45 like come over here
31:47 yeah
31:49 come over here Darren
31:51 yeah just come around me
31:53 let's act like we love each other
31:55 come on
31:57 since when
31:59 does Jesus do a miracle
32:01 for a whole
32:03 connect group
32:05 now here's what intrigues me
32:07 about this group of 10 men
32:09 they are all lepers
32:11 they're all lepers
32:13 if you study your bible you will know
32:15 that leprosy
32:17 was one of the most debilitating
32:19 and deadly diseases
32:21 that you could ever have
32:23 people didn't even know how they would get it
32:25 but they would pick it up and it was highly contagious
32:27 and it would start as a spot on your skin
32:29 and it would spread over your entire body
32:31 to get leprosy
32:33 to get leprosy would be a
32:35 death sentence
32:37 it had all kinds of ramifications to your body
32:39 first of all the bacteria
32:41 would begin to form in your body
32:43 and it would make your nerve cells
32:45 dead to where you would lose feeling
32:47 in your body
32:49 somebody could be cutting your arm and you wouldn't even feel it
32:51 there are stories of lepers
32:53 who would be asleep
32:55 and rats would be gnawing on the open
32:57 wounds on their body while they were sleeping
32:59 and they wouldn't even know it
33:01 slowly you would die
33:03 all of a sudden you would lose
33:05 limbs and lose body parts
33:07 the moment you got it
33:09 anybody that came close to you
33:11 you would have to yell unclean
33:13 unclean
33:15 and let them know
33:17 don't come close to me
33:19 because of the disease that I have
33:21 it was isolation
33:23 the moment you got it you were stripped from your family
33:25 you were stripped from your kids
33:27 you were stripped from every single person that you loved
33:29 and you had to live in isolation
33:31 and isn't it crazy
33:33 that here we have a group
33:35 of men
33:37 different hues of skin
33:39 but all have
33:41 the same disease
33:43 different heights
33:45 but all with the same issue
33:47 different
33:49 as we will find later
33:51 cultural background
33:53 some Jews
33:55 one a Samaritan
33:57 yet they're all coming together
33:59 with the same issue
34:01 of leprosy this is why leprosy
34:03 is a metaphor for sin
34:05 because sin is a disease
34:07 that will affect you no matter who you are
34:09 no matter what color of skin
34:11 you got no matter how much money you got
34:13 in the bank and they're all
34:15 connected but this is what I had to call
34:17 y'all up here because this is what messed me up
34:19 Luke is letting us know something
34:23 about this group of lepers
34:25 that are together because
34:27 typically when you got leprosy
34:29 you had to go in
34:31 isolation
34:33 you had to get away from community
34:35 but the fact that Luke
34:37 lets us know that Jesus is traveling
34:39 on the border in between Galilee and
34:41 Samaria and 10 lepers
34:43 are together
34:45 is letting us know
34:47 that even leprosy
34:49 needed community
34:51 this is why
34:53 our church is social Dallas
34:55 because you cannot deny
34:57 that no matter who you are you need
34:59 a community you need people
35:01 to connect with you are a
35:03 social being
35:05 you were created for community and
35:07 connection but you got to
35:09 watch out what you connect around
35:11 because
35:13 this connection right here is a connection
35:15 on disease it's a connection
35:17 on sickness have you
35:19 noticed how people always connect
35:21 sometimes around the
35:23 wrong things have you ever noticed
35:25 how the offended people have
35:27 a way of migrating to other
35:29 offended people and they talk
35:31 about have you ever noticed how the liars
35:33 will connect with other liars
35:35 and they'll have a lion connect group
35:37 have you noticed how people will
35:39 I knew I wasn't going to get no
35:41 amens I knew going into it
35:43 so I want to pause right now
35:47 and ask somebody since we are social beings
35:49 we always have a connect group what is your
35:51 point of connection
35:53 what do you connect on
35:57 I remember talking to somebody at social
35:59 that said it's crazy my friends all they want to do
36:01 is go to the club and I struggle with
36:03 alcoholism all they want to do is drink and I told them hey let's hang
36:05 out but I just don't want to go to the
36:07 club and I just don't want to drink
36:09 and she was saying it's a struggle to find people to
36:11 hang out with and I didn't realize that our connection
36:13 point was the
36:15 drinking and the clubbing
36:17 so I want to ask you
36:19 what do you connect around with your connect group
36:21 because you have a connect group
36:23 and you were connecting
36:25 around something their connection
36:27 point was leprosy
36:29 it was sickness
36:31 but somebody in the group
36:33 I don't know who maybe it was you
36:35 maybe it was you maybe it was you
36:37 somebody in the group said I heard
36:39 about this man named Jesus
36:41 I heard that he is healing
36:43 every sickness I heard that he is
36:45 healing every disease and yes we've been
36:47 connected on our sickness
36:49 but I wonder what would happen if we all
36:51 connected and said let's make
36:53 action towards the presence of Jesus
36:55 what would happen if 10
36:57 men who were sick said I know
36:59 we've connected about our sickness and things
37:01 have fallen off of you and things have fallen
37:03 off of me but what would happen if
37:05 as an army of men who are sick
37:07 if we decided let's go after
37:09 the presence of God let's find
37:11 where he is I've heard
37:13 a report and if he can heal them
37:15 maybe he can heal us if he can
37:17 deliver somebody else maybe he can
37:19 deliver me I want to tell somebody
37:21 get you around a group of
37:23 people that says no matter what it
37:25 takes I'm going to get to the presence of Jesus
37:27 no matter what I've got to go through
37:29 help me find where he
37:31 is that's who you ought to connect
37:33 with
37:35 I don't need anybody connecting me to anything
37:37 else but him
37:39 so all 10 of them
37:41 can you see him let's move all 10 of them said let's go
37:43 find him where he at
37:45 maybe it is the way
37:47 let's go find him
37:49 can you see him all 10
37:51 trying to find where
37:53 Jesus is and when
37:55 they found him I love
37:57 what happens the Bible says
37:59 they stood at a distance
38:01 they stood at a distance
38:03 and it says that Jesus
38:05 saw them
38:07 I want to pause right there and thank
38:09 God that even when
38:11 I'm sick and even
38:13 when I'm struggling that he sees
38:15 me that might not be a
38:17 big deal to you but when you
38:19 have been isolated when you've only
38:21 been connected to sick people I'm
38:23 thankful for a savior that when everybody
38:25 else doesn't know what I'm going through and
38:27 they just see my little plastic smile
38:29 thank you Jesus that you see me
38:31 you see the real me you know
38:33 what I'm dealing with on the inside
38:35 it says that Jesus
38:37 saw them and it said
38:39 from a distance they shouted
38:41 out at him
38:43 Jesus
38:45 master have mercy
38:47 on us six words
38:49 Jesus
38:51 master they didn't want to get too close
38:53 so they said let's just stay
38:55 from a distance but maybe
38:57 he can do something so they all said
38:59 Jesus
39:01 master have
39:03 mercy on us
39:05 Jesus
39:07 master have mercy
39:09 on us join in anytime
39:11 [laughter]
39:13 Jesus
39:15 master
39:17 have mercy on us
39:19 Jesus master
39:21 have mercy on us
39:23 now see I messed them up because you see how they're saying it
39:25 Jesus
39:27 master
39:29 have mercy on us the bible says
39:31 they said it with a loud
39:33 voice
39:35 they were desperate
39:39 all my years of studying
39:41 leprosy I did not know until I was studying
39:43 this week that one of the final stages
39:45 of leprosy would affect your
39:47 vocal cords
39:49 and even
39:51 lepers towards the end
39:53 would
39:55 start to lose
39:57 their voice
39:59 so for them to
40:01 shout at a savior who was
40:03 distant to lift up
40:05 a loud voice show their last desperation
40:07 because they said I don't know
40:09 when I'll be able to shout again
40:11 this was not a curable disease
40:13 you had to have a miracle so
40:15 can y'all just show them what desperation
40:17 sounds like Jesus
40:19 master have mercy
40:21 on us Jesus
40:23 master have mercy
40:25 on us
40:27 six words
40:29 conveying desperation
40:31 and you would
40:33 think Jesus response
40:35 especially if you read Luke
40:37 chapter 5
40:39 would be hey
40:41 how y'all doing I'll come to you
40:43 miracle miracle miracle
40:45 miracle miracle miracle miracle miracle
40:47 now go ahead and tell everybody what I did
40:49 that's not what he did
40:53 he touched a leper in Luke chapter 5
40:55 to let people know I'm not afraid of any sickness
40:57 or any disease
40:59 I'm changing the game
41:01 when I touch the unclean they become clean
41:03 I don't become unclean I impart
41:05 to you
41:07 what I have thank God for righteousness
41:09 that it's not my record it's not what I do
41:11 it is his righteousness that is
41:13 imputed towards mine
41:15 but that's not
41:17 what he did to them
41:19 they had a six word
41:21 cry for desperation
41:23 Jesus
41:25 master have mercy
41:27 on us
41:29 oh I gotta get in that mercy
41:31 you know you don't have entitlement
41:33 when you're asking for mercy
41:35 they didn't even ask for healing
41:37 they asked for mercy
41:39 mercy says please please
41:41 please please I know I don't deserve it
41:43 but would you have mercy
41:45 they didn't have any entitlement in them
41:47 they said come on you healed everybody else
41:49 you better heal me no no no no
41:51 when you're asking for mercy you know
41:53 that all entitlement has left your life
41:55 and that's why some people don't get the breakthrough
41:57 when you realize that you don't
41:59 God doesn't owe you anything but he owes
42:01 you a hell but he doesn't give it to you
42:03 you will lift up your hands and just say
42:05 Lord have mercy
42:07 they asked for mercy
42:11 then he said
42:13 oh they said master
42:15 master
42:17 in the Greek
42:19 they were saying that you have
42:21 ultimate and supreme
42:23 authority
42:25 you're the master
42:27 please have mercy and Jesus
42:29 gives a six word
42:31 response to a
42:33 six word cry
42:35 for desperation
42:37 Jesus master
42:39 have mercy on us
42:41 he goes alright you call me master
42:43 let's put it to the test
42:45 go
42:47 show
42:49 yourselves to
42:51 the priest
42:53 whoo
42:55 what
42:57 go show yourself
42:59 what kind of response is that
43:01 to somebody that said Jesus
43:03 have mercy on us
43:05 you only went
43:07 to the priest
43:09 when you were healed
43:11 of leprosy
43:13 you only went to the priest
43:15 when your body was healed
43:17 and then the priest could examine
43:19 you and say now you can go
43:21 back to society
43:23 but you telling me
43:25 go show
43:27 yourself
43:29 to the priest
43:31 they had to be looking
43:33 at each other like did y'all hear what I heard
43:35 why he want us
43:37 we ain't healed
43:39 then the bible
43:41 says something powerful
43:43 as they went
43:45 they were healed
43:47 as they went
43:49 they were cleansed
43:51 can we walk some more
43:53 in other words
43:55 y'all ready
43:57 my healing
43:59 is predicated on my obedience
44:01 to what he
44:03 told me to do
44:05 I'm not healing you before
44:07 I wanna know will you do what I told you
44:09 to do and go show yourself
44:11 to the priest keep on walking
44:13 the reason why some people don't ever
44:15 get the miracle that they've been wanting
44:17 is because they never follow the first step
44:19 of obedience when God tells you
44:21 to go do something you have to go
44:23 do it and as they walked
44:25 I don't know in what part of the walk
44:27 they were healed but I know that once
44:29 they got to that priest all of that
44:31 skin started looking brand new
44:33 because God said I got a miracle
44:35 for you but it's on the other side
44:37 of your obedience and if you wanna
44:39 stay stuck and wait for me to
44:41 do it on your time schedule you will never
44:43 get the miracle but if you just walk
44:45 by faith and say I don't even
44:47 know if this is gonna work but I gotta
44:49 trust him and he's really my master
44:51 I gotta do what he told me
44:53 to do so I gotta keep walking
44:55 till I find
44:57 the priest
44:59 I don't know what
45:01 part of the walk they got to heal
45:03 and I just know when they got to the priest they
45:05 got healed
45:07 and many of us are stuck
45:09 wanting God to do
45:11 the healing before we give the obedience
45:13 wanting God
45:15 to do the miracle our way
45:17 and it's nothing but entitlement
45:19 if he is
45:21 your master you must
45:23 do it the way he told you can you see them
45:25 they are a living
45:27 walking picture of
45:29 walking by faith
45:31 oh man
45:33 hope he's right
45:35 can you see the people
45:37 what are y'all doing here
45:39 please don't yell hey you're unclean
45:41 I know I know I know
45:43 but I gotta do what he told me to do
45:45 you know if you'll just obey him in spite of
45:47 what other people are shouting in your ear
45:49 if you can trust him even when you look
45:51 ridiculous when it makes no sense
45:53 [applause]
45:55 by the time they
45:57 got to the priest
45:59 they were cleansed
46:01 the problem
46:03 with nine of them
46:05 is the excitement
46:07 of the healing
46:09 made them in my opinion
46:11 go back
46:13 to the families
46:15 and the life they had been
46:17 isolated from
46:19 for years
46:21 I truly believe
46:23 all of them
46:25 were grateful
46:27 they really were
46:29 but nine of them
46:31 allowed the excitement of receiving
46:33 the miracle and the blessing
46:35 to make them forget
46:37 the one that made it possible
46:39 maybe they had good
46:41 things to go back to maybe one said I gotta
46:43 see my wife I have not seen her in
46:45 years I remember the day I was taken away
46:47 maybe the other one said I gotta see my kids
46:49 I wanna be the dad that's there for them
46:51 all that is good but only one of
46:53 them said before I go
46:55 anywhere else before I go
46:57 back into society I have
46:59 got to find Jesus
47:01 I have got to thank him for bringing
47:03 restoration to my life
47:05 only one see anybody can walk
47:07 to go get the miracle but
47:09 only one said I gotta go walk
47:11 to find the one that did the miracle
47:13 I wonder how long it took him
47:15 to find Jesus
47:17 see you know where the priest is at the synagogue
47:19 but Jesus is a different priest
47:21 he would be anywhere and everywhere
47:23 I wonder how long he was looking
47:25 and looking and asking people
47:27 have you seen Jesus why are you looking for him
47:29 because I gotta find the one
47:31 that made me whole I gotta
47:33 find the one that healed me
47:35 I gotta find the one that made me
47:37 new again I won't stop
47:39 until I find him you wanna know
47:41 what worshiping looks like you wanna know
47:43 what devotion looks like when you say
47:45 whatever it takes for me to find
47:47 Jesus I will do it
47:49 I will search I won't let people
47:51 make me walk away from God cause you hurt
47:53 me in church I love him too much
47:55 I gotta find
47:57 Jesus
47:59 I was thinking about that this morning mom
48:05 I was wondering how long
48:07 did it take for him
48:09 to find him
48:11 but when he did
48:13 look at what he did
48:15 he fell on his
48:17 knees
48:19 he said thank you
48:21 no I'm sorry
48:23 it says he lifted up with a loud
48:25 voice thank you
48:27 thank you
48:29 thank you
48:31 why did he have to lift it up with a loud voice
48:33 because if I was loud
48:35 when I wanted the healing I better
48:37 be loud when I get the miracle
48:39 oh I need somebody in this place
48:43 if you've been loud complaining
48:45 how come you can't be loud when he
48:47 blesses you how come you can't be loud
48:49 when he shows up in your life
48:51 he deserves
48:53 he deserves
48:55 he wouldn't stop
49:01 he said thank you God
49:03 thank you Lord
49:05 hear me
49:07 I'm all for moments of quiet
49:09 I'm all for
49:11 different expressions of praise
49:13 but hear me gratitude
49:15 that is not expressed
49:17 is in gratitude
49:19 if you're thankful
49:21 something needs to come out of your
49:23 mouth say something
49:25 not just to Jesus
49:27 say it to the people that you care about
49:29 they can't read your mind
49:31 if you care about your wife open
49:33 up your mouth and tell her
49:35 I don't care how long y'all been married
49:37 if you love that husband you ain't gonna
49:39 complain your way into making him a better
49:41 man you ought to start speaking life
49:43 over him open up
49:45 your mouth and say
49:47 something some of y'all come in church
49:49 every week tell him I'm just gonna
49:51 worship like this maybe your
49:53 breakthrough is on the other side of you
49:55 opening up your mouth
49:57 and verbally expressing
49:59 what he means
50:01 this ain't about style
50:05 this is what gratitude is
50:09 gratitude
50:11 unexpressed reads as in
50:13 gratitude to the recipient
50:15 but you gotta say something
50:17 and there he is
50:19 worshiping and look
50:21 at what Jesus says
50:23 to him
50:25 verses 17, 18
50:27 and 19 Jesus
50:29 as he's worshiping
50:31 in that
50:33 beautiful passage in Luke
50:35 yeah
50:37 when one of them
50:39 when he saw he was healed
50:41 came back praising God in a loud voice
50:43 threw himself at Jesus feet
50:45 and thanked him
50:47 oh thanks Dr. Luke
50:49 for being thorough
50:51 he was a Samaritan
50:53 the Jews
50:57 hated the Samaritans
50:59 and the Samaritans
51:01 hated the Jew
51:03 it's one thing to be a leper
51:05 it's another thing to be a Samaritan
51:07 leper trying to get healing
51:09 from a Jewish
51:11 Rabbi
51:13 this man had
51:15 double the reason to know
51:17 I don't deserve it
51:19 but maybe that's why he's the one
51:21 that came back
51:23 maybe the other ones were like
51:25 yeah I appreciate you Jesus but come on
51:27 we of the house of Israel you're supposed to do it for us
51:29 entitlement
51:31 but the one
51:33 who was fully aware
51:35 I don't deserve it
51:37 is the one
51:39 who came back
51:41 and look at what Jesus says
51:43 next verse
51:45 Jesus asked
51:49 were not all
51:51 ten cleansed
51:53 where are
51:55 the other nine
51:57 has no one returned
51:59 to give praise to God
52:01 except this foreigner
52:03 you mean to tell me
52:05 the other nine
52:07 took the miracle
52:09 and just said thanks
52:11 but no thanks
52:13 you're not worth walking back
52:15 to to find
52:17 to say thank you
52:19 but look at what Jesus
52:21 says to the one
52:23 rise and go
52:25 your faith
52:27 has made you
52:29 well
52:37 I thought I am well
52:39 I'm healed
52:41 oh
52:45 that word well also
52:47 whole in other translations also
52:49 the Greek word sozo where we get
52:51 saved
52:53 your faith
52:59 has saved
53:01 you
53:03 it
53:05 is possible
53:09 to experience
53:11 an outward miracle of blessing
53:13 and miss
53:15 the point of salvation
53:17 all ten got healed externally
53:23 but only one
53:25 got a healing that will
53:27 last not just in this lifetime
53:29 but for eternity
53:31 only one
53:33 was saved in his soul
53:39 I wonder how many people
53:43 today just want
53:45 God to fix the external
53:47 what good
53:49 is a good marriage
53:51 if your soul is not saved
53:53 what good is
53:55 a new car if your soul
53:57 is not saved
53:59 what good is it if you get the
54:01 raise and the money and you
54:03 lose your soul
54:05 only one
54:07 got cleansed
54:09 externally
54:11 and internally
54:13 and it was the one
54:15 that said thank you
54:17 I'm going to ask
54:19 every head be bowed and eyes be closed
54:21 and everybody to stand
54:27 I humbly present this sermon to you
54:29 as somebody
54:33 who is doing
54:35 the hard work
54:37 of cultivating a
54:41 discipline of gratitude
54:43 hear me when I tell you it's not enough to just
54:47 have an attitude of gratitude there must be
54:49 a discipline
54:51 something that you
54:53 do daily
54:55 to remind yourself
54:57 I deserve hell but thank you
55:01 Jesus
55:03 more than somebody
55:07 responding to an altar today
55:09 this message would be a success
55:11 is if you started
55:13 some daily discipline
55:15 cause it is a discipline
55:17 of gratitude
55:19 we started one in our house
55:23 around the table
55:25 before we touch the food
55:27 we'll go around and say
55:29 what we're grateful for
55:31 we do it in
55:33 staff meeting before we're getting ready to
55:35 analyze how we can be better as a church
55:37 and all the different things we just go around the table
55:39 what are you grateful for
55:41 that's a discipline
55:43 for the longest I would just get up on my
55:47 drive before I'd work out and I'd just play
55:49 this song first thing in the morning
55:51 you have been so
55:53 good to me
55:55 God I can't believe
55:57 how you love me
55:59 what a friend
56:01 you have been I have to
56:03 start my day
56:05 going God thank you for being so
56:07 good thank you that I
56:09 am loved by you
56:11 don't let my
56:13 complaining ever be louder
56:15 than my thankfulness and my praise
56:19 I don't know if it's a
56:21 gratitude journal
56:23 I don't know what it is
56:25 you have to do but I do know that this will not
56:27 come natural
56:29 there's something you have to do in the behavior
56:33 heads are bowed, eyes are closed
56:37 I want to give an invitation
56:41 for somebody
56:43 to receive what the one out of the nine
56:45 got
56:47 his soul
56:49 was cleansed
56:51 heads are bowed, eyes are closed
56:53 if you're here today and you say Pastor Robert I've never
56:55 surrendered my
56:57 life to Jesus today is your day
56:59 maybe the
57:01 desperation of him fixing something
57:03 externally has brought you here and that's
57:05 fine as long as you come to him but
57:07 what you need
57:09 is deeper than a raise is deeper
57:11 than something externally
57:13 he died to save your
57:15 soul
57:17 so with heads bowed and eyes closed today
57:19 if you're here and you say Pastor Robert I've never
57:21 surrendered my life to Jesus but today
57:23 I need to come to him
57:27 and say here I am
57:29 if that's you would you just lift up your
57:31 hand high enough and long enough to where I can see it
57:33 say today I need to give him my
57:35 life maybe you were walking with God for
57:37 a season but you turned away
57:39 and now he's calling you to do the
57:41 walk back
57:43 come home if that's you lift up your hand
57:45 thank you God I see those hands
57:47 thank you Jesus
57:49 thank you Father thank you
57:51 God
57:53 can we pray this prayer as one big
57:55 family we're all going to say it but especially those of you
57:57 who responded would you say this from your
57:59 heart say Jesus
58:01 thank you
58:03 thank you
58:07 for loving me
58:09 thank you
58:11 thank you
58:13 for living the life
58:15 that I was supposed to live
58:17 for dying the death
58:19 that I was supposed
58:21 to die
58:23 Lord I refuse
58:25 to have a
58:27 sense of entitlement
58:29 to live in this
58:31 culture
58:33 of unthankfulness
58:35 Lord I give you my
58:39 heart
58:41 I give you my life
58:43 from this
58:45 moment forward
58:47 I will cultivate
58:49 the discipline
58:51 of thanksgiving
58:53 because you have been
58:55 so good to me
58:57 Lord
58:59 thank you
59:01 that nobody
59:03 owes me anything
59:05 because you
59:07 gave me everything
59:09 and for this
59:11 I give you my praise
59:13 my thanks
59:15 and my life
59:17 in Jesus name
59:19 amen amen amen
59:21 amen
59:23 (audience applauding)
