Finishing touches are being made to the Xiaomi SU7 and these will include larger wheels, carbon fiber mirror covers and a smaller badge.

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is trying to get into the electric vehicle (EV) game, and its first attempt is impressive with the SU7 sedan. However, consumers had some notes for the automaker; This led to several subtle changes to its design, surprisingly for a car introduced earlier.

Documents submitted to the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology have revealed several new ideas to make Xiaomi look sportier, although the overall appearance remains unchanged.

The biggest change is in the rear of the vehicle. It looks like the brand will create a smaller rear badge to make it a little more proportionate. While the brand name previously occupied almost all of the space in the trunk, it will now be significantly smaller.

Additionally, the newly formed brand will also add 21-inch wheels to the options list. (previously 20 sizes) and brake calipers will now come in different colours. Finally, carbon fiber mirror caps will also be added to the options list, which will probably make the design look a little sportier.

Although the source of these changes is not disclosed, Xiaomi recently announced that it invited the famous former BMW designer Chris Bangle to its offices to listen to his thoughts about the car.

SU7, which is planned to compete with Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S, will be quite powerful. With two engines, the top model will be able to reach 664 hp (673 PS / 495 kW), allowing it to reach 100 km/h in just 2.78 seconds.

Xiaomi estimates that the SU7 can travel up to 497 miles (800 km) between charges due to a 101 kWh battery pack. Thanks to its 800-volt architecture, the model will be able to compensate for a range of up to 220 km in just five minutes at the fast charging station.

As you'd expect from a tech company, the interior of the SU7 will be equally impressive. It will feature a 7.1-inch instrument display and a 16.1-inch infotainment display that comes with all the latest gadgets and doodles to make it feel as fast and intuitive as the latest tablets.
