00:00 There's another must-see solar eclipse coming up this spring and it's going to be so incredible
00:08 it's now being referred to as the Great American Eclipse.
00:12 A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon comes between us and the sun, covering the
00:16 light source completely.
00:17 On April 8th, the cosmic event will pass over parts of Mexico, Canada, and of course, the
00:22 US, with NASA saying they expect it to completely block out the sun in 15 states.
00:27 The whole thing will last just 4 minutes and 27 seconds, but it will be the only solar
00:31 eclipse of its kind for another 20 years, meaning you're not going to want to miss it.
00:35 So how can you watch it?
00:36 First, you'll want to be in one of the states with a proper vantage point.
00:39 Luckily, NASA has not only released this map showing all of the affected states, which
00:44 start in Mexico heading into Texas, before spanning the country at a diagonal all the
00:48 way up to the northernmost parts of Maine.
00:50 They have also provided a timetable, giving up to the second info about where to spot
00:54 it, which NASA estimates the event to be viewable to some 32 million people.
00:59 The next thing you'll want to do is grab yourself a pair of eclipse viewing glasses, because
01:02 as always, safety first.
