Short seller Fahmi Quadir has taken a new short position in Adtalem Global Education, a publicly traded, for-profit education company. Quadir gained fame after appearing in the Netflix documentary "Dirty Money" in 2018 and accurately predicting the downfall of Valeant Pharmaceuticals. She earned the moniker "The Assassin" for her successful record of shorting companies. In a new report, Quadir's firm Safkhet Capital writes that Adtalem is "a toxic byproduct of an imperfect higher education system." Qadir believes Adtalem wastes federal funds on ineffective programs and pushes untenable debt onto students.
