00:00 "I go to weddings and baby showers every damn weekend."
00:02 "When are you gonna get me grandkids?"
00:04 "Talk to your firstborn about grandchildren."
00:06 "I don't want him procreating. That's terrifying. Nobody wants that."
00:10 Scrambled, the latest comedy from Lionsgate follows star Leah McKendrick,
00:14 who constantly finds herself between weddings and baby showers.
00:17 When she feels her clock is ticking, she decides to freeze her eggs.
00:20 Watch Trending caught up with her for all the details on this premiere.
00:23 "How old are you?"
00:26 "Please say 32 or 33."
00:28 "Nelly?"
00:30 "I'm 34."
00:30 "Stupid."
00:33 Following McKendrick's real-life story,
00:35 Scrambled is one hilarious and empowering journey that many women face as they age.
00:39 Facing the decision to become a potential mother, the story follows character Nelly
00:43 as she tries to figure out what's truly best for her in the end.
00:46 "They can be a never never land. Never growing up, never aging. But those eggs, they are."
00:52 Speaking to What's Trending, McKendrick not only starred in the movie,
00:55 but she also wrote and directed the film.
00:57 "I froze my eggs and I was like, 'I'm gonna make this movie completely independently,
01:01 nobody's gonna want it and it's okay because the girls are gonna get it.
01:03 The girls are gonna show up and the gays will get it. The gays will show up. The girls and
01:08 the gays, that's what I make movies for. Those are my people, right? And then somehow, by the
01:11 grace of God, Lionsgate got on board and then it turned into this and it's blowing my mind."
01:16 Cast members at the premiere said nothing but positive things about McKendrick,
01:19 who's also serving as a screenwriter for the upcoming sequel of I Know What You Did last
01:23 summer. McKendrick also let What's Trending know that she's trying to be grateful for
01:27 everything truly landed out in the end.
01:29 "I can't even absorb it. It's too much. How does J-Lo do it? I need to meet with J-Lo and I need
01:35 to find out how the big kids handle it because I feel like it's too much. I can handle the
01:41 criticism better than I can handle the love in some ways. I feel undeserving of it so I'm working
01:46 on that. I gotta talk to my therapist. I've been too busy for therapy but I'll be hitting up my
01:50 therapist immediately." "Here we go. Down here, you look like I'd say…"
01:55 "Furgin?" "Definitely not."
01:57 "Okay."
01:59 And of course, McKendrick hopes that viewers will walk away knowing that they do not have an
02:02 internal clock of their own they have to stick to.
02:04 "I hope that they just know that we're not running out of time. We've got time. We're good. Don't let
02:10 society tell us that we are geriatric. We're hot. We're young. Legends never expire."
02:17 "The word geriatric pregnancy just like screams scary. Like why do we use that word?"
02:22 "I know. Why do we use that word? Anybody using that word is geriatric.
02:26 2000 and late. It's over."
02:29 "2008, 2000 late."
02:30 "That's right."
