00:00 Terry Kimball here with Pelican School previewing Wednesday's night's matchup with the Pelicans
00:05 versus the Houston Rockets.
00:07 The Pelicans are coming into the game losers of three straight games, but there are three
00:12 keys for victory for the Pelicans to snatch one in Houston.
00:15 First, they must limit turnovers.
00:18 The Pelicans averaged 17 turnovers versus the Rockets this season, and turnovers have
00:22 surely been their downfall, especially in the clutch.
00:25 The first two games saw the Rockets win by a combined five points, and no doubt turnovers
00:30 did the Pelicans in in those games.
00:33 They come into Wednesday's game as the worst team in the clutch for turnover percentage,
00:38 as they turn over the ball over on 20% of their possessions.
00:42 The Pelicans must value their basketball in order to get a victory.
00:46 Second, they must limit the Rockets' big man, Shingun, as he averages 30 points and nine
00:52 rebounds versus the Pelicans this season.
00:54 One point that the Pelicans may try to focus on is double-teaming Shingun early and often.
01:00 The Rockets are 20th in the NBA with only 12 made three-pointers a game, so if the Pelicans
01:05 can try to force the ball out of Shingun's hand and make some of the outside shooters
01:09 make shots, the Pelicans can have a chance to win in this game.
01:13 And finally, the Pelicans must be diligent to be mentally and physically tough.
01:19 Coach Willie Green challenged his team, saying that the Rockets were the tougher team in
01:23 their last matchup.
01:24 In order for the Pelicans to prove him wrong, they must impose their will upon the Rockets
01:29 from start to finish all 48 minutes until they get victory.
01:33 Once again, this is Terry Kimmel with Pelican Scoop signing off.
