00:00 All six episodes of the BBC's brand new supernatural drama have landed on iPlayer today on Wednesday
00:06 31st January.
00:08 Domino Day, the show that combines online dating with dark magic, is set on the streets
00:13 of Manchester and follows the story of a witch getting to grips with her growing powers.
00:18 The fantasy series was filmed over a few months in the middle of 2023, and we were invited
00:23 down to take a look behind the scenes and speak to the cast and writer.
00:27 "It's, as everyone keeps saying, very sexy.
00:32 There are so many parallels to the real world as well.
00:35 It's not just a supernatural genre show, it's a drama at the heart of it.
00:42 It's really moving and it's really dramatic and there's lots of effects and stunts and
00:51 it's kind of trippy at times and it's fast-paced and it's modern and yeah, it's really cool."
01:00 "Domino is a witch.
01:02 She is a very, very powerful witch who doesn't know where her powers come from.
01:09 She doesn't know what her full ability is and she's still discovering what she is capable
01:15 of.
01:16 She's extremely resilient, which I think is incredible that she is able to keep on
01:23 going through every day with all that she has to go through and she still remains hopeful
01:31 that it can be better and that something can change and that there is an answer and that
01:37 she can work this out.
01:38 I really admire that in her."
01:40 "I love supernatural shows, Vampire Diaries, True Blood.
01:46 I don't think the UK does genre quite a lot, so when the BBC got behind this it was very
01:53 exciting and I just got to, I mean you can change the rules of the world so you get to
01:57 like play with the audience a bit and yeah, it's been fun.
02:02 So you can play with what they might expect and I wanted to kind of write a thriller as
02:08 well, it's supernatural but it's like a thriller element and it just helps, it lends into that
02:14 genre quite well.
02:15 I mean there's a lot of myself in Domino, a lot of my own dating stories are in the
02:21 script but yeah I just, I think there's always a time in a young person's life where you're
02:28 just trying to find out who you are and you're sort of questioning people around you and
02:34 how you connect to the world and I just think it's a story that any young person will relate
02:39 to but in a supernatural world."
