Over 100 jobs lost in Yorkshire after holiday home manufacturer Willerby sees ‘significant decline in sales’

00:04 that Hull-based Willoughby, the holiday homes manufacturer, has cut over 100 jobs at its
00:11 factory. The company, which is one of the UK's largest manufacturers of caravans, said that a
00:17 total of 131 employees had left the business through redundancy on Friday 26th January.
00:26 This follows a consultation that the company held with staff early in December of last year.
00:31 A spokesperson for the company said "Our full focus is now on moving the business forward
00:38 strongly with the continuing commitment and dedication of our excellent workforce." At the
00:44 time of the consultation in December, Willoughby said that it would cut around 200 jobs after what
00:52 it described as a "significant decline in holiday park and residential park home sales". This does
00:59 follow however record turnover and profits for the company for the year ending 1st October 2022.
01:07 The company recorded turnover of £217 million, a jump of 67% from the previous year and the
01:15 highest in the company's 77-year history. It also saw profits rise to £15.1 million,
01:23 a four-fold jump on the £3 million that it recorded the year prior.
