Road crashes result in a lot of pain and suffering, but they also have an economic cost.

The Ministry of Transport (MoT) Malaysia identified a staggering average of 18 people killed in road accidents DAILY or roughly about 6,570 deaths ANNUALLY.

Based on the value of the statistical life year 2018 by the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIRSR), the government loses at least RM3.12 million for each life. This amounts to a rough average of RM24 billion in losses or a loss of an estimated 6% of annual GDP.
