00:00 Hi everybody, I'm Rania Niftos. We're here with Noah Khan and Mama Lori.
00:04 And I gotta start out with a bit of a fangirl moment.
00:07 I was in your top 3% of Spotify listeners last year, so I feel like that's a pretty big accomplishment.
00:12 Oh my gosh, I hope everything's okay.
00:14 It's not.
00:14 [laughter]
00:17 Thank you so much.
00:18 And so how does it feel, I mean, being here with your son for his first Grammy nomination? Are you kidding?
00:23 You know, it's so crazy and I am so thrilled to be here and I'm so proud. It's just incredible.
00:30 And I mean, sharing this moment with your mom must be incredible too.
00:33 She asked to be my date 15 years ago and here we are. So there was no one else I wanted to bring.
00:39 A man of his word.
00:40 [laughter]
00:41 And you are someone that, one thing I love about you, and I saw a meme on Instagram on something that was like,
00:45 "Noah Khan collects collaborators like Pokemon cards."
00:48 And I need to know, are you holding out for a specific Pokemon card that you are saving a song for, I guess?
00:55 You know, after doing all these collaborations, it's kind of opened my eyes to how much fun it is.
00:59 And I know on the next album I will definitely want to have collaborations.
01:02 And I've made some pretty cool friends this year that I think will be really special to bring out in a song.
01:06 I think so too. I mean, it must be crazy when you receive, I guess, the file back from a Sam Fender,
01:11 from a Post Malone, with their own verse on your song. I mean, that's crazy.
01:15 It's insane. Like, you think that you're listening to another song and you don't think it's happening to you,
01:19 then you hear your voice and you're like, "Oh my gosh, I'm on this too? I'm with Sam Fender, I'm with Zach Bryan."
01:24 It's a really, really cool and kind of full circle moment.
01:27 You spend so much time listening to these artists and you realize that you get a chance to sing with them
01:31 and it feels like it makes everything worth it.
01:33 100%. And I mean, Lori, is there a song on Stick Season that you just can't get enough of, no matter how many times you listen?
01:39 I think they change. First it was Stick Season and Homestick.
01:43 And Your Needs, My Needs just wrecks me. So I love it and I listen to it.
01:49 I listen to the whole album pretty much every day still. I think it's fantastic.
01:54 It's such a great album.
01:55 You know you did a good job when your mom's a fan and listens to it.
01:58 Because if my kid was making music, I don't know, I would probably be like, "You suck, dude."
02:03 [laughs]
02:05 That's not how it works.
02:07 And is there, I mean, obviously you're a huge advocate for mental health,
02:11 especially with the Busy Head project and beyond.
02:13 Is there a lesson you've learned in that realm, especially now coming into a more pressured spotlight?
02:20 I think the lessons are the same. It's the practices which I've learned to be better at.
02:25 Making sure that I commit myself to going to therapy, that I commit myself to kind of maintaining a balance in my diet,
02:30 maintaining sleep, remembering to reach out for help when it feels like you don't want to the most.
02:35 That's always the time when you most need the help is when you don't want to talk to anybody.
02:38 That's something that I've had to learn the hard way, and it's something that I'm still learning.
02:41 And every day is a struggle, but I have the tools and the data now to do a little bit better every time.
02:46 It just shows you how much the people who love you love you when you are vulnerable in that way,
02:51 and that's such a special feeling.
02:53 But yeah, thank you, Noah. Congratulations.
02:55 I'm rooting for you. I'm such a big fan, obviously.
02:57 And I hope you have a great night.
