00:00 Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the best anime that should
00:06 be viewed in bulk.
00:29 When you turn on the first episode of this show, you're in store for time travelling,
00:33 gang wars, and a whole lot of thrown fisticuffs.
00:37 If that sounds like a lot of fun, that's because it is.
00:40 Since Tokyo Revengers is all about changing the past, and the butterfly effect that goes
00:45 with it, things can get complicated fast.
00:48 That's where binging comes in.
00:57 Watching Tokyo Revengers in one go means you won't have to worry as much about forgetting
01:01 all the small stuff.
01:03 Like say, what point of time they're in and why it matters.
01:06 Instead, you can just sit back, relax, and appreciate one of the most empowering anime
01:12 of the 2020s.
01:27 Like all the great sports anime before it, Blue Lock tears up the tiff by making you
01:32 care about the people kicking the ball more than whether they can score or not.
01:37 But that character-focused storytelling might have a few too many flashbacks for some people's
01:41 tastes.
01:42 However, those spotlight moments are a lot less jarring when you aren't waiting week
01:47 to week for the match to continue.
01:56 If you sprint through Blue Lock in a few sittings, the character backstories feel like worthwhile
02:01 addendums instead of pace-killing detours.
02:04 Although, it really shouldn't come as a shock that a show about soccer incentivises
02:10 going fast.
02:19 8.
02:20 Bastard ā€“ Heavy Metal Dark Fantasy
02:28 When you power through a show en masse, it's a lot easier to see the subtle changes in
02:33 its formula.
02:34 Bastard starts out as a shamelessly suggestive fantasy series, and by the end, it'sā€¦
02:40 well, it's still that.
02:42 But as it goes on, the episodic elements fade away in favour of a genuinely awesome war
02:48 against demon gods.
02:55 Trust us, it's worth the investment.
02:58 In fact, Bastard was literally designed that way.
03:01 Distributed by Netflix, the adaptation dropped in chunks of over 10 episodes apiece.
03:07 Clearly, they knew exactly the type of show they had on their hands.
03:11 In for a penny, in for a pound, right?
03:23 7.
03:26 Yu Yu Hakusho
03:36 There is not a ghost of a chance you'll be able to put this one down.
03:40 While a hundred episodes may sound like a big commitment, Yu Yu Hakusho goes by in a
03:45 flash.
03:46 We'd even wager it's better that way.
03:48 Sure, it originally aired weekly, so each instalment can technically stand on its own,
03:53 but altogether, the episodes build upon each other into a uniquely captivating narrative.
04:00 It'd be a disservice to Yu Yu Hakusho to pull yourself out of its world, even for a
04:05 few days.
04:06 Given that almost every episode ends in a painful cliffhanger, staying glued to your
04:11 screen shouldn't be too hard anyway.
04:20 6.
04:24 Initial D series
04:32 In the shady world of underground street racing, putting the pedal to the metal is part of
04:37 the job.
04:38 Sometimes, though, Initial D takes its time.
04:41 Certain races and tournaments stretch across multiple episodes, and given how entertaining
04:46 they are, that's a good thing.
04:48 But fair warning, it also makes the series an absolutely addictive watch.
04:58 Since most episodes are just one leg of a much longer track, it's practically criminal
05:03 to hit the brakes.
05:04 No, Initial D is much better when you ride along with its high-speed races until the
05:10 very end.
05:11 Plus, with how many seasons, movies, and specials there are, Initial D can keep you enthralled
05:17 for a long, long time.
05:22 5.
05:23 Kingdom
05:24 If you can't judge a book by its cover, you can't judge an anime by its first episode
05:36 either.
05:37 Or really, its first season.
05:39 Look, when you have over a hundred episodes under your belt, you're bound to have a
05:43 few lumps of coal every now and then.
05:46 Unfortunately, most of Kingdoms come early on, primarily because of its wonky animation.
05:52 But, take our word for it, the show gets much better.
05:58 The sooner you race through its shaky start, the sooner you get to experience one of the
06:03 coolest historical anime out there.
06:05 With the power of binging, it won't even take that long.
06:13 4.
06:16 Oshinoko
06:21 The idol world is a dangerous place, both for the characters and the audience.
06:26 See, Oshinoko broke onto the scene with tons of fanfare.
06:31 But soon enough, those same viewers realised the pain of waiting a week to see how things
06:36 would progress.
06:37 By the time the season ended, many agreed that the optimal way of experiencing Oshinoko is
06:43 all at once.
06:46 Any slower episodes wouldn't drag, the mystery would wrap up quicker, and best of all, you
06:52 wouldn't have to worry about those pesky cliffhangers.
06:55 And boy, are there a lot of them.
06:57 Just save yourself the pain and finish Oshinoko in one sitting.
07:04 3.
07:06 Kaiji
07:13 If you're going to gamble on anything, gamble on Kaiji.
07:16 The namesake bettor is willing to risk it all on the roll of a dice, resulting in breathtaking
07:22 wages and even more breathtaking plot twists.
07:25 Unfortunately, those jaw-dropping plot points take a while to set up, especially in the
07:30 later arcs.
07:31 But that's exactly why Kaiji makes for such a satisfying binge.
07:35 You can experience the build-up, payoff and resolution all at once.
07:45 Removing the downtime between episodes solves almost everything.
07:49 Kaiji can continue delivering high-stakes thrills until he either runs out of stuff
07:53 to gamble, or finally loses one of his life and death wages.
07:58 Whatever comes first.
08:04 2.
08:07 Baki Franchise
08:12 You wanna watch Baki?
08:13 Well, in that case, you may as well get comfortable.
08:17 Even though the original anime came out in 2001, the series' fight-heavy structure
08:22 is tailor-made for mass viewing.
08:25 With the next episode only a click away, you can race through the slower training arcs
08:29 and eat up entire tournaments in one fell swoop.
08:39 Each chapter flows so naturally into the next, it's a wonder how anyone could watch this
08:44 weekly and not go mad.
08:46 Luckily, starting partway through the 2018 series, Netflix began dropping entire Baki
08:52 seasons in bulk.
08:54 Take the hint already, and just start watching.
09:18 Higurashi When They Cry Series
09:27 At first glance, Higurashi and its many, many iterations may seem like too much to realistically
09:34 binge.
09:35 But that's only if you look at it as a show.
09:37 In reality, the best way to approach Higurashi is to think of each season as its own horror
09:43 film.
09:50 The only real way to get the full experience is to watch it together, partly because of
09:55 the way the story unfolds, and partly because the lore gets kind of dense.
09:59 With time loops, schoolyard hijinks, and blood-stained murders galore, Higurashi is definitely worth
10:06 a watch, just so long as you remember that it's a sprint, not a marathon.
