00:00 A group of volunteers from Taiwan surveys the border between Myanmar and Thailand.
00:05 They're here with the NGO Global Action Taiwan, a charity dedicated to fostering children's
00:11 education in the region.
00:13 Their work is vital as Myanmar's civil war enters its third year.
00:17 People fleeing to this region, particularly children, aren't able to get the education
00:21 they need.
00:22 That's where Global Action comes in.
00:24 "There are many refugees and migrant workers who come to the border and their children don't
00:30 have the opportunity to study.
00:31 So we take them to the local communities and help them with their education."
00:33 "I think this project is very good for the people in the village.
00:38 So if I have a chance, I would like to work in this type of project."
00:42 Global Action has been working in the area since 2015.
00:46 It sponsors around 16 schools.
00:49 Many of the students it's helped over the years have returned to pay it forward.
00:52 "There are 1,700 children and 70-80 teachers and local workers."
00:59 As Myanmar's people continue to struggle, Global Action is helping those that have been
01:03 displaced by the conflict.
01:05 Children of refugees here are given a shot at a proper education, despite having their
01:10 lives turned upside down by war.
01:13 Howard Zhang, Leslie Liao and Jeremy Olivier for Taiwan Plus.
01:16 Taiwan is not an outsider.
