01:25 Oh whoops just switch the sheet, you know, I don't know. It was it was such a it was such a vital moment
01:31 I think in our writing process and in this album process we're working on
01:35 I feel like I feel like it would have been really really different making the album
01:39 We are making right now if we hadn't made the song. I think it would be completely different and way less good
01:46 You know, I don't even know what to say right now

02:39 Your daughter's only two years old sweet baby girl. Hazel back there. Oh my god. We love her in Imagine Gold
02:46 So she's the youngest nominated artist ever in the history
02:50 Tell me about this this historic moment for you in and baby. Hazel. It's really beautiful
02:55 there was a lot of fear getting pregnant and you know going through kovat as
03:00 Pregnant woman and all of the fears are projected on you with career bounce mom balance
03:05 I'm to have one of my biggest moments alongside my daughter is like it's the perfect
03:09 Week from God like you're doing the right thing keep going. So it's been beautiful. I can't wait to explain it to her
03:15 I don't think she quite understands. I'm just like lollipop lollipop
03:18 But eventually she'll understand the magnitude of what she's been able to achieve
03:24 Dance the night is the first song that you ever written for a film and apparently this is a very different writing process for you
03:31 What if anything did you take from this process into writing your new music?
03:35 Gosh, I don't know about what I took into writing for my new music. It was just such a different experience
03:41 I just learned so much from it as a whole I think
03:44 Going in and analyzing like a different story and something that's you know
03:49 Writing to an assignment was a very different experience to writing for things that I know and experiences that I have and I
03:57 Loved it. I loved it. I think it was it was different. It's much easier
04:01 I think sometimes having an assignment and then you sit in and you can build from there and it was just fun
04:07 It was fun because I got to do it my friends
04:09 It was fun because I got to do it for a film that I really love it was fun because I got to work
04:13 With Greta there was just so many things. I'm I'm really grateful. It worked out really well
04:17 I'm I'm really distracted by these necklace you're wearing. Oh my god
04:21 Can you please tell us the story of this wonderful ensemble and then that oh my god gag gag gag talk to us do a
04:28 So this is a Tiffany necklace. It's from the 2023 blue book collection. Oh my god, and we've got
04:38 Some little things over here joining us. Yeah, and this dress is a custom courage
04:43 Dress which just makes me feel very strong. It's very heavy
04:48 It's all like these metal pieces and I just I feel I feel ready for my night. You are ready for war
04:54 But it's not a war you are already a winner now you teased your new single training season
05:01 Which comes out February 15th the ten the tees you're talking about like I need a man who takes control
05:07 I need him to be strong. I wanted to teach him anything
05:09 Girl, what's I feel you?
05:12 They gotta come correct
05:14 There was training season about a man coming correct or whoever you do it today
05:18 Training season being over that I'm like done training someone up
05:22 I live I live now. Can we expect a new album to follow soon after training season? Yes, it's coming
05:30 It's coming soon now a lot another thing
05:33 I just recently found out about you is service 95, which I think it's incredible. Can you tell everybody about?
05:38 To a leap of being of service to people which I think is so important and incredible. I'm so glad you mentioned it
05:45 Yeah, it's it's
05:46 It's what I like to call a cultural concierge service. We started about two years ago
05:51 And it's basically I have this love of making lists and also finding
05:56 different stories from around the world and this way I get to commission stories from different journalists from people around the world who want to
06:03 Tell interesting things whether it's from like biohacking to activism, you know, it can be anything and it's a free newsletter that goes to people's
06:10 Inboxes every Thursday on service 95 comm and you would just get something completely different every week
06:17 and alongside that I have a book club and I have a podcast and
06:20 Yeah, it's just about getting things to people who you know things that you wouldn't necessarily go looking for the one and only
06:27 How you gonna lose when you already chose
06:31 I
06:33 Love that you're rocking your signature hair
06:36 What is the story of this look tonight? This is baby fat. I was given bronze mommy tonight. So yeah
06:43 Baby
06:47 Is this your first time at the Grammys
06:50 This is my first time at the Grammys as a nominee you had incredible collaborations with Taylor Swift Nicki Minaj
06:58 Huge artists huge cosigns. You're nominated. Can you process what a year you've had and the impact you've had?
07:05 You know, I'm just so grateful and so excited to have so much success at such a young age
07:11 Like I can't think anybody besides God, honestly
07:14 Yeah
07:15 What are you most excited about tonight?
07:17 Performances thing. What what are you most excited about your first Grammys?
07:22 Honestly, I'm really excited to see who wins best new artist. Like yeah, that's it
07:26 Yeah, you're nominated for that. Yes. Yeah
07:29 But how you gonna lose when you're already chose
07:34 This is a lyric for one of her songs, by the way, you are so stunning
07:39 So you have so many fans out there who love you
07:41 What do you want to say up to all your fans who've been supporting you and loving you from Delhi to Barbie world?
07:47 Yeah, what do you have to say to them? You know, I just want to thank my fans so much
07:51 They're so supportive and like just always tuning in to anything that I drop. I love them so much
07:55 I you know, I'm really close to them. So yeah, I feel like I have to stay like this jelly roll
08:00 Feel good. My hair is hair and the curls are curling
08:03 Pouring rain in California, which favors the Tennessee boy. I think that might be an omen of good luck for tonight
08:10 Absolutely. Now you were so emotional when you found out you were nominated for
08:15 Grammys
08:19 Multiple
08:20 Can you walk us through the emotions you're feeling right now standing here on the red carpet is the best new artist nominee?
08:25 Extreme excitement just absolute electric man. I mean, dude, it's like celebrities everywhere. I can't believe it
08:30 This is the wildest thing ever
08:31 This is the biggest event in music ever
08:33 So to be here in a part of the 66 one is more special to me than anything in the world as a nominee
08:38 Your story is so incredibly inspiring from where you started to where you are now
08:43 all the struggles all the
08:46 Just everything it's amazing and it's so beautiful
08:50 What would you say to people out there who may be having a hard time who may be formerly who may be incarcerated now or formerly?
08:56 incarcerated about
08:58 Changing your life
08:59 Yeah
09:00 I would say that we I used to make the mistake of making almost permanent decisions based on little
09:04 Snapshots of what was happening in my life and I can promise people that I'm standing here as an almost 40 year old man
09:10 Nominated for new artist of the year and I don't tell you nothing that changes the way you feel
09:14 I promise you tomorrow is better. I promise you there's something on the other side of this
09:18 You've just got to fight through whatever you're going through. I just thank God that I continue to do that, man
09:23 I'd have never guessed that have been some people are late bloomers, baby. And here we stand God's time not our time
09:28 It happened right on time
09:31 Jelly roll
09:32 Congratulations. I'm so happy for you and you have a beautiful voice and saved me. It's such a beautiful song beautiful
09:37 Congratulations, you know it. Thank you. Honey. We all know it. That's why you're here. It was on a script that it wasn't
09:43 I was like, this is great. She really knows it
09:45 Thank you
09:48 Thank you. No, I know it and it's beautiful and you're so you're amazing artists. You deserve this. Enjoy. I love your outfit
09:55 By the way, this is awesome. We are in the age of
09:58 Pleasure because we are standing here right now with the one and only Grammy nominee Janelle Monae
10:05 Janelle darling you look so stunning. What story are you telling with this beautiful look, you know, I'm feeling
10:12 classic timeless
10:14 futuristic
10:16 all pleasurable, but I'm
10:18 standing in black
10:20 pride and
10:22 Hence the liquidy blackness
10:25 And in a state of joy this album was about joy
10:30 I always try to fight for justice for my people and this time around I wanted joy for my people
10:36 I wanted to see a smile. So I'm just so thankful
10:39 I'm so happy to be nominated for album of the year and best progressive R&B album
10:45 It means so much to me and most importantly to the community that I wrote it for
10:50 Absolutely. Now what I one of the things that you said about this album is that it came out of parties you were having and that
10:57 Pleasure for you. You can't really fully experience it unless you feel safe and that we all need that safety
11:05 Can you talk a little bit more about what that?
11:07 Looks and feels like and what it feels mean to create safe space in your concerts and in through your work
11:13 Sure, there is no pleasure without safety. There is no pleasure without safety. So we need to feel safe
11:21 systemically
11:24 Legislation wise and with our friends and our loved ones and I think that that curates a space of consent
11:30 That curates a space of freedom
11:32 That curates a safe a safe space for joy to really exude without that safety
11:40 There is no joy and you also said about this era in your life that you want to be even freer than you've been
11:47 What it does a free or Janelle Monáe look and feel like and we're in black history month. So like
11:53 Freedom honey. What is freedom for the one and only Janelle Monáe with the skin skinning and the hair airing look and feel like
12:01 it looks and it feels like
12:07 Inner freedom giving myself permission
12:10 Giving myself the permission to create the art that I want to create
12:15 To write the movies that I want to write tell the stories
12:18 I want to tell me what the people and love the people that I want to love
12:21 and
12:24 Most importantly doing it with the community of people that I know love me and they know that I love them
12:29 The one and only Paris Hilton now Paris you said that you are going to save pop music with your upcoming album
12:37 Tell us more. How are you gonna save us, honey?
12:40 See as executive producer of the album. I have so many amazing females on this
12:45 It's going to be iconic and I'm just so excited for everyone to hear the music
12:49 It's all about my journey and my whole life. When can we expect it this summer?
12:53 Amazing stars are blind. It's still
12:56 Everything now you look stunning as always. What is the story of this beautiful look you're wearing?
13:01 I am wearing a remap breath that it was perfect like mermaid vibes
13:05 Love the turquoise
13:08 Talk to us about the bag. This is Hilton Hilton for the stay because I am here with my Hilton family tonight
13:14 And they're a big part of the Grammys
13:16 So I have this custom made with my handbag line
13:19 We love an entrepreneur. We love a multifaceted diva
13:25 Who are you most looking forward to seeing tonight?
13:27 I'm looking forward to seeing a Miley who was nominated six times, which is so epic. So I'm so proud of her
13:34 I can't wait to see her
13:36 Thank you so much Paris. It's so good to see you again. Congrats on the babies. How you have to now. Are you sleeping?
13:42 Yes, they're very good babies. I feel very lucky and they're so beautiful
13:47 So so blessed the one and only Coco Jones now Coco
13:51 you've had a wild couple of years from starring on Bel Air on Bel Air on peacock and
13:57 celebrating five Grammy nominations
14:00 What emotions are running through you right now as you stand here on the Grammy red carpet a best new artist nominee
14:07 Honestly, um so many emotions. I really am trying to keep it together
14:12 I think I'm just reflecting on everything that got me here and it makes me emotional
14:19 I just want to continue to inspire the girls who look like me to just keep pursuing because
14:25 All of this wouldn't have happened if I gave up and I'm just grateful. I did not
14:30 Are you having fun?
14:32 Absolutely. I'm having fun. I mean, it's crazy, but I'm having fun. I'm laughing
14:37 I'm trying to like stay jokey and goofy
14:39 But I'm also just like this is such a moment in my life that I will tell my children about one day
14:45 So some it's a mix of emotions, but it's so fun. It's so beautiful
14:49 It can be overwhelming especially the first time and if you can take a breath and just look around and say thank you
14:56 To higher power whatever it is that you you know, look to now
15:02 There's so many huge stars here your biggest song so far as I see you
15:09 Who who is going to be here tonight with that?
15:12 If you ran into them you need to go to the ICU because you beat the start drive. That is hilarious
15:17 You know what? I see so many talented people because I'm an artist, but I'm also a fan. I love great music
15:24 I love hard workers. I love good people. And so when I see other people that I support
15:29 It makes me feel like I might pass out. I saw Victoria Monet. She looks beautiful. I just I just saw Jelly Roll
15:37 He's so fire. I just everyone honestly, they work hard to get here, too
15:42 you know and I'm a fan of people who don't give up on their dreams who do their big one and who
15:47 Just make a moment in time with their creativity. So I'm passing out a lot today
15:52 I just can't get her out of my head. I'm joined by the living legend the one and only Kylie
16:02 So good to meet you as well my goodness, okay, so you said that you're like you have a life pre padam and post padam
16:09 And so yes indeed and you're already a winner tonight
16:16 Congratulations, how does it feel? Well, I've screamed I've cried I
16:22 Tried to you know, pull it back before the ugly cry
16:26 I was like all of this to just happen, but I was I was shaking. I'm so overwhelmed
16:31 I'm absolutely thrilled for stuff. It's so beautiful to see you
16:35 Have you've had a five decade long career in so many amazing incredible songs that have just touched us and we've danced
16:43 You and oh my god
16:45 You're such an icon in the LGBTQ plus community that our community loves you and you loved us back
16:52 What would you want to say to all your queer fans out there on this momentous occasion?
16:57 I would say thank you for being with me for such a long time now through thick and thin we we
17:04 we ride the highs the lows in the in-betweens and to know that we've got each other's backs and
17:10 This it feels like the start of the next
17:15 I love it. You're already a winner. What are you most looking forward to tonight?
17:20 the performances
17:23 Sure, I mean, you know, I think I need a seatbelt on my seat. So I'm an excitable audience member
17:30 Yeah, it's so emotional because there's been several days to where I thought she was going to divorce me. Oh
17:37 Good lord. It's a bill that nomination saved his ass. It did clothes on the floor. She's got mad
17:45 Help me Lord so much clothes on the floor. It's oh god
17:51 How do you do it on the road and when you're going into the studio together like what are your do's and don'ts as a
17:56 Married couple when you're collaborating on an artistic venture, you know
18:00 I've had to learn to stand my ground in arguments and just say, you know, I hate the saying happy wife happy life
18:08 I'm like, no
18:10 When this argument
18:13 He wins nothing. He's a great songwriter because he knows how to write. So I'm sorry songs
18:19 I'm sorry. That's all we ever want to hear from our husbands. You have a biopic about your life coming out
18:25 John legends producing it. Can we see John legend in it or what can you tell us about this project?
18:29 Well, you know John legend is very shy by nature. So if you see him in it'll be for one second
18:36 Also, y'all are performing at the Grand Ole Opry next Saturday. What's your favorite thing about performing at the Opry?
18:42 Standing in that circle. I mean, it's a surreal circle and we're just so happy that you know
18:48 The Grand Ole Opry spins they've been great supporters for everything we've done and Nashville is just open us up with open arms
18:53 So it's awesome
18:54 I'd like to go in there because I like to see how many times they'll let me come in and attempt to steal the outfits
18:59 Out of the glass case until they want to buy me back no more. So this is great
19:03 And the popcorn is really good. You're already a winner
19:06 Congratulations. Oh
19:09 The Barbie soundtrack which you produced is the most nominated album of the year
19:15 You work with so many incredible artists and Billie Eilish do a leap
19:20 What was the craziest day working with all these amazing artists?
19:24 I mean there was so many I mean because actually like the do a leap of song dance tonight like we wrote that song for like
19:30 Three months almost like we rewrote it like everyone we put a lot of time and then for I'm just Ken
19:36 I had two hours in the studio with Ryan
19:38 So there were times when we had like we've worked and worked and worked
19:41 I think Billy and Finneas said they wrote what was I made for in an hour like it's just everyone was so inspired by this
19:48 Project and and it was and then obviously Nicki Minaj the ice spice record. It's just so incredible
19:54 Now you speaking of Nicki Minaj you said that you absolutely had to have her on this album because she's kept you know
20:01 Barbie alive for the past 15 years and her fans are called Barb's how difficult was it to get her and what pushed it over?
20:07 the line I think right from the beginning she was at the top of our list and Greta and
20:12 Definitely didn't want the barbs coming for us, you know
20:15 And we were just so lucky and the fact that the two things around this movie were like
20:20 How are they gonna get the Nicki song and then what are they gonna do with Barbie girl?
20:25 And it them that it managed to be Nicki and ice flipping it and bringing this amazing energy to to the old-school Barbie
20:32 Girl, and we got very lucky curly. You said before that. This is one of your most proud pieces of art that you've ever created
20:38 Tell me about that. What makes you so proud about this song?
20:41 I think that it's written from a place that maybe some people would shy away from because it's uncomfortable to talk about those moments in
20:48 a relationship where you're not even you're just existing and
20:51 To have it with somebody that I admire as an artist and songwriter and just as a voice in the way that I do Chris
20:57 Stapleton it will be a career highlight forever for me. Yeah, when you listen to the song, it's it's like
21:01 A relationship that's completely lost passion and you're right. A lot of people don't want to touch on that
21:06 How did this duo come to be? Can you walk me through that process? I wrote the song
21:10 I've had a lot of success with duets and I just kind of go off feelings
21:13 And so when I wrote it and I heard it I was like, oh my gosh
21:15 It'd be crazy to have Stapleton on it as we all would think and I didn't want it to be about our teams
21:22 I just wanted it to be authentic artist to artist. So I DM'd his wife Morgan on Instagram
21:27 And I just said I know you get a lot of these but maybe you could let Chris hear this song and here we are
21:32 Here we are. She slid in the DMS of Chris's wife. This is iconic
21:37 I also know that you're a big fan of 90s country music that is like touches me to the core of who I am
21:43 You're going on the road with Tim McGraw. What is the likelihood we could get a duet with you and Faith Hill?
21:49 I mean trust me. I'm working on it. Faith is one of my favorite artists in the whole world
21:55 So I'm gonna try to be her best friend. Okay, I'm putting it on your vision board for you
21:59 And what are you looking forward to about partying tonight? Just what an incredible group of artists being recognized across genres
22:06 I'm just proud and gonna be inspired. It's Lenny Kravitz
22:09 It's so good to see you again
22:13 Earlier this week you were honored by the Recording Academy
22:16 With their global impact award and in just a few short weeks, you will be receiving the music icon award from the People's
22:24 Choice award at the People's Choice Awards. I have to ask you right now Lenny. How iconic are you feeling?
22:29 It's an honor. I feel blessed. I'm having a great time. I have new music coming out getting ready to go on a world tour
22:37 ready to just do my thing and
22:40 Blessed blessed blessed very blessed. You are such a
22:46 Icon in so many ways, but a style icon. My brother is obsessed with you
22:51 So, can you tell us the story you're telling with this look tonight? You look amazing. I'm like obsessed to tell me everything little
22:57 vintage Dior Rick Owens
23:00 Chrome hearts
23:03 Yes, what about these necklaces Laurie Rodkin?
23:06 Amazing now you mentioned your new album new album is called blue electric light and it's out in May and now you've made 24
23:15 Yes, and you said that is a celebratory and sexy
23:19 And when I heard that I'm like, when does Lenny Kravitz do anything? That's not sexy
23:23 So it's a sexy level gonna be upped on this new album. Tell us more. It's really fun. It's kind of like the record
23:31 I didn't make in high school before I made my first album. Let love rule
23:36 So it's really fun and as a as a very young spirit
23:42 Why didn't you make that record in high school? Why didn't you make why wasn't that the first record?
23:46 I never got a record deal. It didn't happen. I didn't get my record deal till I was 23
23:49 So I had left that sort of vibe and had moved on and this
23:55 Is a little step in that direction, which is nice to celebrate that time, you know, you're nominated six times
24:02 In fact, you're the most nominated group in over a decade. What is going through your mind tonight with that a historic moment?
24:09 That's pretty cool
24:15 I've never done something like this. It's weird to be on the other side of it
24:18 Like I would watch award shows with my family. My mom's like a musical person. So she watched the Tonys, you know
24:25 Or like I don't know. It's just it's weird to be in the position that you watched as a kid. Oh
24:30 Yeah, I was in Vegas at 7 a.m. This morning. So my brain scrambled eggs. I get it
24:35 What was the vibe that we're going for with this look tonight?
24:38 Cohesion
24:43 You
24:45 Don't know it's also like a reference to one of our lyrics which is a reference to Elliot Smith who was referencing Marty Robbins
24:56 So there's levels to it a lot of references. Okay, I like this now you said that Kristen Stewart directed
25:02 One of your short films and what was it like to be directed by Kristen Stewart?
25:09 It was great. She's the best. What did you learn from her?
25:11 Was there any surprises if you saw any acting in those we were doing a tenth of what Kristen was showing us?
25:18 Like she would be like I want you to do this and then embody it

32:45 Something I've carried with me forever. I write every day because of that advice and
32:50 I'm yeah, she's the greatest. I wouldn't be nowhere near this room if it weren't for her

38:40 I love that now what would your advice be because you're presenting for best new artist tonight?
38:43 What would your advice be to this next best new artist for this next best new artist?
38:48 I would say enjoy the moment take in the moment think long-term think about what you want to do with it
38:54 You know momentum comes and goes but your purpose that's steadfast
38:58 So keep that keep your love for your art and keep being an artist and keep creating. Oh my god. That's beautiful
39:04 So what's the future of jazz hold? Mmm? I think it holds a lot of creativity. I think it holds a lot of new repertoire
39:11 I think it holds
39:12 coming out of being a museum historical music and
39:16 Giving it a fresh breath, you know fresh breath of air or fresh. I don't know how to say that
39:21 Yeah, listen, you're a breath of fresh air. Okay
39:23 And since you're touring a ton, what is your must-have on your rider while you're on the road must have I have to have raw
39:30 Honey, it's guaranteed. I'm most likely gonna take it in my check back. So I have to have the best of the best
39:36 but uh, raw honey and
39:38 Humidifier you heard it here first. She's smuggling raw honey all across the world
39:43 I gotta ask is it ever hard to get in the holiday mood when you're recording these albums in the middle of July?
39:49 You know, it's funny. We actually started in January
39:52 We love holiday music so much that it's actually really really fun
40:00 It's such a joyous time of the year and to have that throughout the whole year is actually kind of a blessing
40:05 I have one request mrs. Claus needs a little more respect. So y'all could get on
40:09 I
40:11 Agree you heard it here first now. You just got married and I saw that you did a fabulous
40:17 Number to blackpink for your husband. Were there any acapella performances surprise performances at this wedding?
40:24 Oh my gosh
40:25 Well marks family did a flash mob to sing to pentatonix the same and it was so iconic all 98 family members every single person
40:32 Learned all this choreo. There's one of my favorite parts of the wedding. I was so moved. I felt so welcome to the family
40:37 Now when you guys are going in to start on new music, what is like your must-haves in the studio as a collective?
40:42 Like what's on everyone's rider? What do you need?
40:44 21 Savage one of tonight's performers. What can we look to look forward to in your performance tonight?
41:03 Just a fun moment
41:05 Yeah, are you excited? Yeah, I seem very excited
41:09 Now you look fantastic, what's the story of this amazing look? It's a London designer named Ernest W. Becker
41:18 Just keeping it class
41:21 Keeping it very very classy. What are you looking forward to most besides your performance night?
41:26 Who are you looking forward to meeting any after parties? What is on your agenda for tonight beyond your performance?
41:32 I just want to see everybody just watch the show. Enjoy the show and let them see you darling
41:38 Let them see you. You look wonderful. Wonderful. What do you any message for all of your amazing fans out there?
41:43 No, I need to tell you something
41:47 I played Radio City a week after you and you signed the guest book when you play Radio City and I looked at your
41:54 Signature and you wrote before the show
41:56 I am very nervous and then there was dot dot dot and then you wrote after the show. I had a blast
42:00 I want you to know I was so nervous going into Radio City and seeing what you wrote in that guest book
42:05 Helped me get through the show. What was that night? Like for you performing at the iconic Radio City? Oh my god
42:10 Well, yeah that guest book. It's like everyone's like it was the sickest thing ever
42:13 I'm like, I've never gone on yet. Like I'm not gonna write anything until I know it's gonna be a good show
42:16 I mean what an iconic venue like the history there you can feel it when you're walking around
42:21 It's always weird to play like a theater right after playing a bunch of clubs and stuff
42:25 So it was a step up and we had fun and the crowd was so receptive
42:28 It was one of the loudest shows we'd ever played so much fun, you know, New York used to be my home
42:32 So it was fun kind of homecoming and playing for a bunch of friends
42:34 Speaking of your home you have become like the poster boy for the New England specifically Vermont
42:40 How do you how do you feel like you're putting Vermont on the map?
42:43 I'm happy to represent Vermont in some way, you know
42:47 I think Vermonters are very happily represented in their own ways and so I try not to be like hey, I'm the Vermont guy
42:52 But every time I do a photo shoot, they're like we're gonna put him in the woods. He's the woods guy
42:56 So I feel like I represent the forest these days. We love that. We love that forest and Laurie
43:00 Are you just what are the emotions going through your body tonight? Just being here with your son?
43:05 Well, I cried three times in the car over
43:07 I'm trying really hard not to cry. I don't usually look like this. So I'm like, I'm trying to keep it together
43:12 Y'all have the best time congratulations on all the success truly have have a wonderful evening. Thank you. Bye y'all
