00:00 Alyssa Milano is responding to claims she got Shannon Doherty fired from Charmed.
00:05 During a panel discussion for the fantasy drama show at Megacon Orlando February 1st,
00:10 the actress addresses the allegations head-on, saying,
00:14 "I knew this was going to come up in one way or another,
00:18 and I want to be very thoughtful in how I respond to any of this.
00:21 And I will just say that I'm sad.
00:24 I don't think it's really that I'm sad for me or my life,
00:27 or how it does or does not affect my life."
00:31 The Who's the Boss star continues, "I'm the most sad for the fans.
00:35 I'm the most sad that a show that has meant so much to so many people
00:39 has been tarnished by a toxicity that is still, to this day,
00:43 almost a quarter of a century later, still happening."
00:47 Alyssa starred in Charmed alongside Shannon Doherty and Holly Marie Combs
00:51 for three seasons before Shannon was dropped from the series in 2001.
00:56 The 51-year-old goes on to tell the panel's audience
00:59 that the eight years she worked on the series were at times very difficult for her,
01:03 explaining, "I have worked super hard in my life in the last 25 years
01:08 to heal all of my trauma that I experienced while shooting.
01:11 I've worked really hard to heal the bits because I understand that hurt people hurt people,
01:17 and my intention is to be a healed person that helps heal people."
01:21 The Sorry Not Sorry author then takes to her Instagram February 3rd
01:25 to elaborate on the situation further, saying,
01:28 "I don't know one other show that has had the success that Charmed had
01:32 where the cast still speaks ill of the experience a quarter of a century later.
01:36 I will add, though, with absolute certainty, everything was documented.
01:41 There was a professional mediator.
01:43 I was told Holly and Shannon would not participate in any mediation,
01:47 and an on-set producer/babysitter who were both brought in to investigate all claims."
01:52 It was then recommended by this mediator after collecting testimony from cast and crew
01:57 what changes should be made if the show was going to continue.
02:01 The studio, Aaron's spelling, and network made the decision
02:04 to protect the international hit that was Charmed.
02:07 "I did not have the power to get anyone fired.
02:10 Once Shannon left, we had five more successful seasons, and I am forever grateful.
02:16 As always, I wish Holly, Shannon, and Rose peace and light in their personal and professional journeys."
02:23 One of Charmed's former producers, Krista Vernoff, commented on Alyssa's post, writing,
02:28 "There was a great deal of bullying on that set, and you were not one of the bullies.
02:33 Plain and simple. They can spin it how they want to, but it's spin."
02:37 Alyssa's words came after her former Charmed co-stars, Holly and Shannon,
02:41 discussed the hit series on Shannon's podcast, Let's Be Clear, back in December.
02:46 In the podcast, Holly says the show's producer, Jonathan Levin, told her during a private meeting
02:51 in the early 2000s that Alyssa had pressured the network into firing Shannon.
02:56 "I said, 'Why would you hire her again, just to fire her?'
03:00 And he said, 'We didn't mean to.'
03:05 And he said, 'But we've been backed into this corner.'
03:07 He said, 'You know, we're basically in a position where it's one or the other.
03:11 We were told that it's her or me, and Alyssa has threatened to sue us
03:18 for a hostile workplace environment.'
03:20 Which, because she went to the therapist or the mediator or the corporate mediator,
03:25 or whatever the heck his title is, she built a case for herself,
03:31 where she was documenting every time she felt uncomfortable on set,
03:34 and for whatever reason, whereas you and I refused to speak to him.
03:38 So, that's where the deck was stacked."
03:42 The podcast is available on iTunes, Apple Music, and Spotify.
