00:00 Former DAP MP Tony Pua says he does not need DAP to publicly declare its support for him
00:06 after he was summoned by police for an investigation under the Sedition Act.
00:10 He said that what's important is that DAP leaders are carrying out their duties in the
00:13 unity government.
00:14 Pua said he will be handing over his laptop to the police, adding that they have also
00:18 requested access to his Facebook account.
00:20 Pua said that in his view, the posts he shared did not include seditious content or infringe
00:25 upon the Sedition Act, and that it appears to be a misuse of the police time to investigate
00:29 something that is seemingly baseless.
00:31 He said he was told that the investigation was initiated following a report by Johor
00:35 Amno.
00:36 Yesterday, Bukit Aman said he had launched an investigation into Pua's remarks against
00:39 the commutation of former Prime Minister Najib Razak's sentence in the SRC International
00:44 case.
00:45 In a statement, Inspector General Police Professor Ridhi Hussain said, "Remarks such as those
00:48 in Pua's posts are seditious in nature as they incite the public to harbour resentment
00:53 and disrespect towards the Royal Institution, pertaining to the young Tiputon Agong's absolute
00:57 powers in exercising his authority under Article 42 of the Federal Constitution."
