00:00 So why after 13 years at Mullion Creek did you want to step up and take on the role as principal?
00:05 The opportunity to see the school progress in the way in which we'd worked so hard to get it there.
00:14 We're a very lucky school in that probably 50% of the teaching staff are actually local.
00:20 That's unheard of. So it's keeping it in the community, knowing the families.
00:26 It's the way it needs to go in a small school. You need to work continually with your community.
00:31 So I just wanted to make sure that that happened.
00:33 Absolutely. And why is it so important, as you said, for people from the community to teach at those community small schools?
00:41 Your small school in a lot of communities is the hub. It's what keeps people together.
00:47 So even at my school now, as I was walking out the gate at half past three to get in here,
00:53 parents were still in the school talking to each other. And that's just divine.
00:58 They have an interest in the school because it is their school. It is their school.
