Bill Belichick Pens Letter To Patriots Fans

00:00 This season we saw Bill Belichick's last season as the New England Patriots head coach.
00:06 It's still weird to hear you say that. It's still weird. It is crazy.
00:09 And you know obviously Bill had his own relationship with the media, but
00:14 he did decide to
00:16 pen a nice letter to Patriots fans.
00:20 What was your takeaways from that? I was kind of surprised, but I was pleasantly surprised
00:26 because I don't know if it was Bill, but somebody in Bill's very tight orbit said, "Hey, thank the fans."
00:32 Because not that you didn't appreciate him, but you didn't show it outwardly to them.
00:38 Yeah, you never sat at a press conference and said, "Thanks for coming."
00:41 No. Or in the snowstorm. Right. He wasn't real personable with the fans.
00:45 He was kind of like, "Y'all are necessary evils, and I'm glad
00:48 you're paying my salary, but that's about, that's kind of our relationship."
00:52 But you knew deep down though he did. And then for him to actually express that.
00:58 Yes, I don't know if it was him or somebody told him. It was great. It was very good, and it gives Patriots fans
01:05 closure. You know, like it's not wrapped up neatly in a bowl, but you know he parted ways
01:12 amicably, gave Robert Kraft, the owner, a hug.
01:15 Robert Kraft thanked the fans in a letter a week later. Bill Belichick thanks the fans.
01:20 So you kind of think, "Okay, everybody's getting along. We parted ways. Now we can start looking back without any, you know, ill feelings."
01:27 Well, it's interesting though. We're looking at Belichick not being
01:30 involved in the NFL as a coach for the first time since
01:35 1974, which is just mind-blowing. He's had the job for 50 straight years.
01:39 But Robert Kraft at the press conference for Belichick said, somebody asked him, "When are you going to have a Bill Belichick appreciation day?"
01:47 He goes, "Oh, not when he's coaching another team." What if he's not coaching another team?
01:51 What if this year all of a sudden, back-to-back years, Brady Appreciation Day, Gillette Stadium,
01:57 and then this year a surprise Bill Belichick day?
01:59 Something to look forward to for Patriots fans, or otherwise, we're kind of like, you know, we've got a long way to get back to where we were.
