00:00 [applause]
00:13 Also, as we know, Donny went on to play for Australia, represent his country.
00:17 Hendo went on to captain his country.
00:20 I was English, so I didn't qualify.
00:23 [laughter]
00:25 And you played for Arsenal, Portsmouth, Chesterfield,
00:30 [unclear]
00:32 [laughter]
00:34 You played for England, won the World Cup for England.
00:39 Hendo won. Is that right?
00:41 [applause]
00:46 I sat down with Jimmy, I said, "Jimmy, Jimmy Frazier's a real good touch."
00:51 I sat down with Jamie just before Christmas and said,
00:57 "Jamie, we ought to do something more than just a book signing."
01:00 Let's get Donny and have a party for him and celebrate.
01:06 It's one of Donny's favourite days because...
01:09 [unclear]
01:18 Was it today?
01:21 [laughter]
01:23 It was the 26th of January.
01:25 [unclear]
01:27 [laughter]
01:34 28th of January is my birthday.
01:38 That was the day I jumped off the plane and changed the face of football.
01:42 [laughter]
01:48 Donny is confident as ever.
01:50 [laughter]
01:52 Great great Johnny Warren, who passed away 20 years ago,
01:55 his first son would be made a civil team player.
01:59 I'd come to Johnny every morning at the golf club.
02:02 Johnny, in a way, brought us all here.
02:04 He had no players.
02:06 And one day, we were on our way to Man Utd,
02:09 and I said, "Well, where's the team?"
02:12 He said, "Tilly, you're it."
02:14 I said, "What do you mean? Arsenal? England?"
02:16 He said, "We don't need anyone."
02:18 Anyway, we got there, and no further than that,
02:20 there was 200 kids running around for a trial to play for Canberra City.
02:25 And I had Tony Fane, two internationals, Hogy and me.
02:32 He said, "You know anyone who comes from South Africa?"
02:35 We were banned by FIFA in '77 because of apartheid.
02:38 We were banned.
02:40 So, such a quibble you had a week before,
02:42 I'd met Hendo on a German pitch.
02:45 And he said, "Tilly, get me there."
02:48 So I mentioned his name to Johnny Warren,
02:50 and he started talking on the pitch with me.
02:53 And along came the future Australian captain.
02:58 We never looked back.
03:00 We were glad Hendo got what we'd done in the first year.
03:03 He played, we were back four and eight.
03:05 We kept it together.
03:07 Danny and Hogy were just kids in '17,
03:09 and we wouldn't have survived without Hendo.
03:12 They would have been cricket scores.
03:14 "Tilly, Tilly, Tilly, Tilly."
03:16 You were bottom of the league when I came.
03:18 Yeah.
03:19 (audience laughing)
