00:00 Puppy Bowl is happening this weekend and trust us, it is going to be cuter than Taylor Swift
00:05 and Travis Kelce's love story.
00:07 We are here now with Dan, the referee of the Puppy Bowl.
00:10 Dan, it's so good to see you.
00:12 Thanks for having us.
00:13 Yes, this year is going to be extra special, the 20th anniversary of the Puppy Bowl.
00:17 Yeah, 20 years, two decades of cuteness and athleticism.
00:21 Besides it being the 20th year, what makes it extra special this year?
00:24 Yeah, so what's extra special is that it's truly the puppiest Puppy Bowl ever.
00:28 We have 131 rescue dogs representing 73 shelters across the country.
00:32 That's our most amount ever.
00:33 By the time Puppy Bowl is done airing, they all get adopted.
00:37 That's been happening every year.
00:38 We have 100% adoption rate.
00:40 But it really is puppies taking over.
00:44 We've got puppies in the control room, puppies working the cameras on the sidelines with
00:48 the cheerleaders.
00:50 They are the cheerleaders.
00:51 It's pretty incredible.
00:52 This is your 13th year, right?
00:53 Yeah, 13 years.
00:54 Lucky 13.
00:55 Yep.
00:56 So how do you prepare for the big day?
00:58 Lucky 13.
00:59 Well, the way I prepare is by staying alert and in shape and getting lots of sleep because
01:03 with 131 dogs, you really just have to pay the most amount of attention as possible.
01:07 Right.
01:08 Well, we are here with one of the stars of the Puppy Bowl.
01:10 This is Mr. Miraculous, who was on Team Fluff, and he did a fantastic job.
01:16 He's more miraculous at knowing when dinner time is than anything else.
01:19 He knows the exact time that the dinner bell rings, but he's a great sit.
01:23 He's so great.
01:24 Good Paul.
01:25 And he was adopted, like you said, already.
01:26 Yeah.
01:27 You know, we have so many success stories already from when we shoot Puppy Bowl.
01:30 People on set, camera people will just adopt Puppy Bowl dogs, and it's really great to
01:34 watch.
01:35 But by the time, even if they haven't had any adopted yet, by the time it's done airing
01:38 on February 11th, "Oh, would you like more, sir?"
01:41 We do get them all adopted by the time Puppy Bowl is over.
01:44 And not only that, the rescues that we work with and the shelters, they all report an
01:49 uptick in adoption inquiries by the time Puppy Bowl, and afterwards too, throughout the year.
01:54 So that's a blessing.
01:56 So besides Mr. Miraculous, who should we be looking out for?
01:59 Yeah.
02:00 Look out for Bark Purdy, because he does have a human namesake, but I feel like this guy's
02:04 a little more athletic and definitely cuter.
02:08 No offense to the other white guy.
02:09 You're cute too.
02:11 The other guys I would look out for is Snack Prescott.
02:14 I would look out for Patrick Mabones.
02:16 Patrick Mabones, I love that.
02:19 Also because it's Puppy Bowl 20, we have our largest dog ever, Levi the Great Dane at 72
02:24 pounds and only three months old.
02:26 So he's, I mean, he's like three times this guy.
02:28 Jeez.
02:29 And our smallest dog ever, Sweet Pea, is 1.7 pounds and can fit in the palm of your hand.
02:34 Oh my God.
02:35 Hopefully they don't go up against each other.
02:36 They do not.
02:37 Oh, okay, good.
02:38 We cannot keep the large and the small breeds separate.
02:39 We've got to do that.
02:40 That's a good question.
02:41 So Dan, we are joined by a lot more pups.
02:42 Tell me all about these adorable little faces.
02:45 Yes.
02:46 These are our rally pups.
02:47 They're like not, they're a little young for the Puppy Bowl.
02:49 You have to be 12 weeks at least.
02:51 They're just under 12 weeks, but they were also recently just rescued from Puerto Rico,
02:55 the streets of Puerto Rico.
02:56 They're a litter by the SADO Project, which is a wonderful organization that works in
03:00 Puerto Rico, bringing dogs here to the mainland and getting them adopted and getting them
03:03 forever homes.
03:04 So please check them out.
03:06 February is also Heartworm Awareness Month for dogs.
03:09 So don't forget to do your best to check out your dog and make sure you prevent them from
03:13 getting heartworm.
03:14 Talk to your vet.
03:15 And I know this year is special at the Puppy Bowl because we have some special needs pups
03:19 this year as well.
03:20 Yep.
03:21 We have six special needs dogs this year.
03:22 We have three hearing impaired dogs.
03:24 One of them is Mr. Moosh.
03:26 We've got Mr. Bean that was born without front legs and you're going to see him hop around,
03:30 but boy, this guy's really, really incredible.
03:34 It's just, you know, it's wonderful to watch special needs dogs participating in Puppy
03:38 Bowl because obviously as we're watching at home or me, even on the field, you can't tell
03:41 the difference between them and any other dog.
03:44 So it's just a reminder to people that are out there looking for a, you know, forever
03:48 dog.
03:49 If you have those special needs dogs, consider the older dogs, the senior dogs, these puppies.
03:54 Getting them adopted on national TV isn't the toughest thing in the world, but their
03:58 siblings that are still in the shelters, their parents, that can be a little harder.
04:02 So we want to try to own, we always do raise that awareness as well.
04:05 Yeah, no, definitely.
04:06 I know.
04:07 And if you want more information, go to thesaddleproject.org and follow them on social media @thesaddleproject.
04:13 Definitely a great organization.
04:14 And I mean, who could resist these faces?
04:16 I don't know.
04:17 I've been walking out with one of these.
04:19 Is there anything else that we should mention about the Puppy Bowl?
04:22 Just tune in Sunday, February 11th, 2 p.m. Eastern.
04:24 We're on like seven different networks.
04:26 I lose count, but you know, Discovery, the streamers, Max, you know, we're everywhere.
04:32 Animal Planet.
04:33 It's just a, it's a feel good thing and you don't have to choose between us and human
04:36 football.
04:37 Okay.
04:38 We're on at 2 p.m.
04:39 We're the best pregame in America and it'll get you hyped for the real game, but I guarantee
04:43 you we're cuter, we're cuddlier and we smell a lot better, don't we?
04:46 Yes.
04:47 Yeah, we do.
04:48 faces. Dan, thank you so much. Of course, of course. Thanks for having us. Of course.
