00:02 Pope Francis has deemed this year, 2024, the year of prayer.
00:07 Francis says he wants this year to be used
00:10 as a renewal of commitment to prayer from the heart.
00:12 Now contemplative or mental prayer can be difficult
00:15 if it's something that you have not practiced regularly.
00:18 Actually asked Alatea's former editor, Father Patrick Mary,
00:22 I asked him, "What is a book that I could give to someone
00:25 "if they are completely unfamiliar
00:27 "with contemplative silent prayer?"
00:29 This is the book he recommended.
00:31 "Time for God" by Jacques Philippe.
00:33 Super short book, it's nothing daunting,
00:35 just about 100 pages,
00:37 and I have been blown away by how amazing it is.
00:41 There are so many relatable little nuggets
00:43 of information in this book,
00:45 but I love this one especially.
00:47 He says if we wait to feel the desire for prayer,
00:49 we may just end up not praying at all,
00:52 and that while a desire for prayer is beautiful,
00:55 it's also just unreliable.
00:57 So if you're feeling like you wanna increase
00:59 your mental prayer, but you don't really know where to start,
01:01 you need some encouragement,
01:02 definitely check out this book.
