00:00 Three stories in brief, and 68 community projects across West Yorkshire are set to benefit from
00:07 over £1 million in funding. Money from the Mayor's Safer Communities Fund will tackle
00:12 issues such as serious violence, hate crime and support victims of crime and trauma, with
00:18 the fund financed through recovered cash and assets seized from criminals.
00:22 Next, one of the nation's last surviving Windrush passengers and Leeds' only remaining
00:27 Caribbean Second World War serviceman has received a Leeds Award. Alfred Gardner was
00:33 presented the award by the Lord Mayor, Councillor Al Garthwaite, in recognition of his special
00:38 and lasting contribution to the city.
00:41 And finally, West Yorkshire Rail passengers are being urged to check before travelling
00:45 between the 19th and 23rd of February. Major engineering work will impact train services
00:50 between Huddersfield, Dewsbury and Leeds.
