Replicas of the late Queen’s Gold State Coach, a so-called 'revenge' dress worn by Princess Diana, plus countless other costumes and props from The Crown have been sold at auction. Around 450 items featured over six seasons of the drama fetched almost £1.7 million. Charlie Thomas from Bonham's Private & Iconic Collections says proceeds will go towards setting up a scholarship programme at the National Film and Television School. Report by Covellm. 00:00 I think when you watch a show like The Crown, you're so fixated on the story and the characters,
00:07 you see but you're not looking at the costumes and the sets and the decorative arts that decorate the sets.
00:14 But when you came to the exhibition, or when the 30,000 plus people came to Bonhams here at 101 New Bond Street,
00:20 and they saw the incredible detail that went into the costumes, the amazing ham embroidery,
00:27 the Downing Street facade, which really does look just like Downing Street,
00:31 and all the antiques that were adorning the sets, all sourced by Alison Harvey and her team,
00:37 I think they're really surprised at the level of detail, which is of course a massive testament to the amazing people that worked on The Crown.
00:45 It wasn't just the UK where there was huge amounts of interest.
00:48 We had buyers and people registering from all over the world.
00:52 In fact, there was not one corner of the world where there wasn't interest in the sale.
00:56 And I think that just reflects the popularity of this show and its worldwide appeal.
01:02 So the fantastic legacy of this auction and the show is that all the proceeds from the live auction are going to the National Film and Television School.
01:09 The Left Bank Productions have set up The Crown Scholarship Programme,
01:13 which is going to pave the way for next generation filmmakers. So a really lovely legacy.
