Director Zara Hayes, has returned to her home town of Wigan to produce more films telling the stories of people in the North West. She was surprised to see Poms, a film she directed about women in an American retirement home, has hit the number two in the Netflix charts.

00:00 Hi, I'm Zara Hayes, I'm a filmmaker. I write and direct films and TV for all different platforms, both in drama and in documentaries.
00:08 And I'm originally from Wigan, I grew up here, and growing up I went to Willpower Youth Theatre, which is where my love of drama really started.
00:17 But my work's taken me all around the world since then.
00:20 Some of my recent credits include a mini-series for the BBC called Show Trial, which is still available on iPlayer at the moment.
00:29 And I just completed a psychological thriller called The Killing Kind.
00:33 But I had quite a surprise this week when a film I made a couple of years ago in America dropped on Netflix and started doing really well,
00:40 and it's currently at number two in their charts.
00:43 It's called Poms, and it's a comedy about a group of women in a retirement community in America who decide to set up a cheerleading team.
00:51 And it stars Diane Keaton, Jackie Weaver and Pam Grier, and a bunch of other amazing actresses.
