00:02 I must admit, kittens have claws.
00:06 They accidentally scratched a few of our cast members,
00:10 including Nick Fury.
00:11 He was very brave.
00:14 In filming real kittens, we would need them to be
00:20 between three and four months old,
00:22 any older than that, and they begin to look like small cats
00:24 and not just kittens.
00:26 So we had a very specific age window
00:29 in which we needed to film them,
00:30 and we planned the whole shoot around that.
00:32 I can't.
00:33 Can you?
00:34 I got it.
00:34 We looked at reference of octopus and of seahorses
00:40 and of all kinds of other sea creatures
00:42 to see what the difference was
00:43 between juveniles and adults.
00:46 We have a few tricks for making the audience feel
00:51 like the object isn't shrinking.
00:53 We leave a few full-size items
00:56 sort of at the edge of the mouth
00:58 when you witness the consume.
01:00 There might be a saber worker shoe.
01:03 There might be a desk part.
01:05 We also stretch the mouth of the kitten
01:08 so that it can wrap around the object that it's consuming.
01:11 Oh my God!
01:15 We actually looked at ostrich eggs,
01:23 which have a film on the inside and then a hard shell
01:27 so that we could put our gooey, gross flirkin' egg on top
01:31 and still end up with a very fluffy, cute kitten.
01:33 Who's that good kitty, Gus?
01:36 Our CG kittens look so great,
01:39 and you feel that they are there in the scene
01:41 with our in-camera kittens,
01:42 and I think they're incredible.
01:44 I would hope that they are the cutest addition to the MCU,
01:47 and I hope we get to work with them again.
