00:00 So Sean, your DB coach Daniel Bullocks, the work he's done with your teammates, Chuck
00:04 Airsmartt, All Pro here, Tejano DeLanoa going from outside the slot, Andrew Thomas, and
00:08 maybe even yourself and Talon Lanoa at Hufanga as well.
00:11 What can you speak about your coach and the job he does with you guys?
00:14 I don't think DB get enough credit, and I've had history with DB ever since my first year
00:19 in Jacksonville.
00:20 It was his first year in the NFL, so I was familiar with him prior to coming here.
00:24 He was probably one of the reasons why I came here, him and me being familiar with Coach
00:29 Kyle back in my days in Cleveland.
00:31 And the thing about him is he's a Kyle Shaderman kind of guy, man.
00:34 He loves football.
00:35 Like sometimes, like, he'll get to talking to you about real life, and then he'll just
00:39 start talking about cover too.
00:40 Like, we just talking about our kids, man.
00:43 Like, he loved the game of football, and a guy like that you just have to appreciate
00:47 because he gets you so prepared.
00:49 And with that being said, it's kind of like, man, when we go out there on the field, we're
00:53 prepared, and we know everything else is just your God-given ability against the man across
00:57 from you.
00:58 He's done his job, and he's probably one of the best coaches, if not the best defensive
01:02 back coach I've been around in my career, and I've been around for many, man.
01:05 I'm so thankful that I've had him.
01:07 What he's done for this room, for guys like you said, Mooney Ward, Huff.
01:12 Like, you know, Huff was a first-year starting hit last year, first team All-Pro.
01:17 DB deserves all that credit.
01:19 Like, you know, you see what Mooney Ward did.
01:21 He, Mooney Ward played good football, never been an All-Pro, Pro Bowl player.
01:25 DB deserves a lot of that credit, man.
01:27 He's just been doing some things for us in the back end that's just been huge for him,
01:30 and I'm happy that he's my coach.
01:32 He's got a good handle.
01:34 Like, all you guys, like, play with the kind of coaches that we all know he's played.
01:38 He's done a good job at having you guys be prepared.
01:41 You say, like, to the degree of how much credit he gives you guys to where you are.
01:45 But you have an All-Pro season.
01:47 Yeah.
01:48 He's an extremely hard worker.
01:50 He work like, you know, he got something to lose, you know what I'm saying?
01:53 Like, he work like a hard-working player, dude.
01:55 You can tell he study, study the opposite team for him.
01:58 Like, he know the offense we going against, like, the back end, you know, in and out,
02:02 in and out stuff.
02:04 So, I mean, I was just impressed about, like, how smart he was, you know what I'm saying?
02:07 And, you know, he got great teaching ability, great coaching ability.
02:10 So, I mean, I think he's a very good coach, for sure.
02:13 What do you think about him potentially ascending in a position, like,
02:16 getting promoted down the line and taking this off their name or something like this?
02:19 Not, like, within the system or, like, any other thing.
02:21 Because I personally think, like, like you said, really in my mind from what I've been
02:24 talking to him about is that there's no way he can hold a message.
02:28 Yeah, I feel like he got the talent and ability to be a defensive coordinator.
02:33 But, I mean, I don't know if he want that role or not.
02:35 But, I mean, I know for a fact if he sought out to do it and put his mind to it,
02:39 he'll be a defensive coordinator one day.
02:41 But, I mean, I feel like he pretty happy with his role and comfortable with his role,
02:44 like, right now, you know what I'm saying, coaching us up, you know,
02:47 helping me go all pro, help Brooklyn go all pro last year, man.
02:50 So, I mean, he developing guys, honestly.
02:52 You know, so, I mean, I think he got it all.
02:54 He can develop you and all this.
02:56 So, if he wanted it, I'm pretty sure he can do it.
02:58 He's got a great resume with you guys on his end.
03:00 But is there any, like, coaching points that's really stuck with you from him
03:05 or anything he said to you that's really stuck in, like,
03:07 just getting you in a way to play on a high level?
03:09 Just the mindset and the mentality, like, that we need to have every play,
03:13 like, dominate every snap, every rep, no matter who we're playing.
03:17 Like, even if we're doing, you know, in practice, dominate, win every rep.
03:20 Even if we're doing, like, a walkthrough against, like,
03:23 the equipment sales that's running around, see, like, dominate.
03:26 Anytime somebody line up in front of you, you know, you got to dominate that guy.
03:29 So, it's just the mindset and the mentality that he got us playing with.
03:32 Like, we want to win every rep, you know, be super competitive and never slack off.
03:38 What about how you credit Daniel Bullocks to your development?
03:41 Avery?
03:42 Oh, yeah, I feel like he's been with me since my rookie year,
03:44 so he kind of been like my guy.
03:46 My rookie year, he was just great with the safeties.
03:49 And, well, second year, he started talking a little bit more,
03:52 but he was still strictly with the safeties.
03:54 And this year, he took over.
03:56 And he's--honestly, he got my confidence back going for this season,
04:00 and he always had me believing in myself, and I appreciate him for that.
04:03 Yeah, he speaks very highly about you, about how your confidence has changed
04:06 and how it's, like, it's all cooking for you and how much you've really ascended.
04:09 Is there any coaching tip or words he's told you that's really stuck to allow you to ascend?
04:15 Honestly, since OTAs, he always said to the whole DB room, like,
04:19 "Everybody a starter in here. Like, ain't no backups. Like, everybody a starter."
04:24 And when he say that, like, I take it and I run with it, and I truly believe that
04:28 because everybody in our room could start, you feel me?
04:31 And everybody--most people in our room has had a chance to start
04:35 some long point in this season.
04:37 So everybody's a starter, and I just truly felt that and believe that.
