00:00 Hey, Trey, thanks for your time.
00:01 I'm curious, looking back on the first matchup
00:04 between you guys with you and Purdue this year,
00:06 when you look at that film,
00:08 kind of what sticks out to you
00:09 and what have you kind of targeted
00:11 in practice this week to kind of rectify
00:13 that kind of performance happening again?
00:15 I think just looking back on,
00:20 there's a lot of things that we have to clean up
00:22 if we want to be able to compete with them.
00:24 I mean, there's many things where that,
00:27 I mean, even like them just playing hard on us,
00:29 that was the biggest thing I thought.
00:31 They wanted it more than that first game we played.
00:35 But I think just cleaning up some things on offense
00:38 and doing some different things.
00:40 Obviously, they shot the ball pretty well
00:44 and Zach had a great game,
00:47 but I think just playing harder
00:49 and cleaning up some things on offense.
00:52 We'll go William, then Daniel.
00:54 Hey, Trey, thanks for the time.
00:56 We've heard Woody kind of talk about it,
00:58 but I don't really remember you ever mentioning it.
01:00 What does crazy man Trey Galloway mean to you?
01:04 That's just a funny nickname that coach gave me.
01:09 The first year we were together,
01:13 just because my hair is kind of,
01:16 when I'm out there playing,
01:17 it's kind of going crazy a little bit.
01:18 But like, I think just interrupting things
01:22 on the defensive end and doing certain things
01:24 that are kind of just, he considers crazy,
01:26 which is funny, but they kind of always took it
01:30 and ran with it.
01:30 It's pretty cool.
01:32 Daniel, then Jack.
01:33 Trey, it looked like you and Trace
01:36 had a little reunion last night.
01:38 What was that like for you watching him play?
01:41 And then like, I guess, how have your conversations,
01:45 what have your conversations looked like
01:46 so far with him this year?
01:48 Yeah, no, it was great.
01:49 I mean, I wish he got more minutes,
01:52 but no, it was really cool to kind of go down there
01:54 and support him.
01:56 Because I know he'd do the same thing for me.
01:58 And he's going to, so he'll be back here soon, hopefully.
02:01 But no, it's been good.
02:03 Kind of, we talk every day,
02:06 text back and forth, sometimes call,
02:07 but it's good to kind of just hear from him
02:10 because he's been through it all.
02:12 And I mean, there's been times we've been down
02:14 and he texts me, just picking me up and stuff.
02:16 But no, it's a great relationship that me and him have.
02:21 Jack, then Alex.
02:22 Hey, Trey.
02:24 Just when you're playing a team like Purdue
02:25 that has a guy like Zach Eaddy inside
02:28 and then all their three-point shooters around him,
02:30 what does that require of you guys defensively
02:32 when you kind of have to keep an eye on both
02:35 inside and outside and they have multiple ways
02:37 that they can beat you?
02:39 Yeah, I mean, they're number two team in the country
02:43 for a reason.
02:44 Obviously, Zach is so dominant in the paint and stuff,
02:50 but they also have other great players as well
02:53 that can spread you out and make shots
02:55 and make tough ones.
02:56 So I think it's really challenging,
02:58 but I think our game plan,
03:02 we're gonna be ready to go and go on there and compete.
03:05 And we gotta be confident and believe that we can win,
03:08 which I believe we can.
03:09 So there's a lot of things that we gotta focus on.
03:13 And at the end of the day,
03:14 it's just come down to us playing harder than them.
03:16 So it's gonna be a battle.
03:19 Alex, then Zion.
03:20 Trey, you're in your fourth year in the Big 10.
03:24 I mean, you've played pretty much everywhere
03:27 in the league at this point.
03:28 What, you know, the coaches talk a lot about
03:30 how difficult it is to go on the road and win,
03:33 but I mean, not even specific to Purdue,
03:35 but just in general,
03:36 what as a player from your perspective
03:38 does make it so hard to go on the road
03:41 and win in this league?
03:42 It's a good question.
03:46 I mean, it is kind of weird how it kind of works like that.
03:49 I mean, you see just the teams that have home success
03:53 in the Big 10, it's just,
03:56 I think just the adjustment of the home crowd
04:00 compared to away crowd, I don't really know.
04:02 I mean, I think it's just been like that for so many years
04:06 and I don't know why it is,
04:08 but I think just the teams that can really focus
04:11 for 40 minutes on the road
04:13 are gonna find ways to get wins
04:17 because there's little room for error
04:19 when you go on the road.
04:20 'Cause obviously home teams are always gonna find ways
04:22 to make runs and get the crowd behind them,
04:24 but if you can go on there and kind of just weather the storm
04:28 and then be in it with the last four minutes to go,
04:31 I think there's a high chance for teams on the road
04:34 to go win.
04:35 Zion, then Mike.
04:37 Trey, after the first Purdue game,
04:41 you mentioned how you guys just picked up
04:43 a lot of unnecessary fouls
04:44 and that kind of led to you falling behind.
04:46 I was wondering, how do you strike the balance
04:49 between playing with energy and effort,
04:51 but not just playing recklessly and fouling?
04:54 Yeah, I mean, with them,
04:57 obviously Zach does get a lot of fouls
04:59 and we gotta find ways to be smart
05:01 and know when to foul and know when to be physical.
05:04 'Cause I think in the first game,
05:06 there was a lot of, we got a lot of early foul trouble
05:09 and some fouls that got them the bonus early
05:12 and they made a lot of free throws.
05:14 And that obviously put us behind
05:16 in the first half of the first game.
05:20 So I think just being smart and playing hard
05:23 without fouling is the biggest thing for us.
05:27 And I think if we go in there
05:29 and don't foul and stay solid,
05:34 I think we'll put ourselves in position to be in the game.
05:37 Mike, then Alex.
05:39 Yeah, hey Trey, you've evolved from kind of a role player
05:43 early in your career to a guy that,
05:46 at least at times, looks like you can take over games
05:48 like at Kansas and Tuesday night.
05:50 Like what would you say is the biggest challenge
05:53 to make that transition and really have a mentality
05:55 that you're kind of the guy and you want the ball?
05:58 I think it's just having my teammates trust me
06:04 and the coaches putting the trust in me
06:06 to have the ball in my hands.
06:07 And that's been a big time thing
06:09 that has gone well this year.
06:12 I think Coach Woodson has really gained trust
06:15 and to have the ball in my hands
06:17 and to make plays for my teammates and for myself.
06:19 So I think the biggest challenge was just kind of knowing
06:23 when to do certain things and when to take certain shots.
06:28 But I think that that's gone pretty well.
06:32 And as long as I can find ways to help my team,
06:35 I'm going to do whatever it takes.
06:37 Alex, then Mason.
06:38 You mentioned this kind of on the road,
06:42 the teams that play for a full 40 minutes
06:44 give themselves the best chance of winning.
06:46 When you guys have played well at times,
06:47 you've been a really good team,
06:48 but the other night, obviously against Ohio State,
06:50 you played kind of two separate halves.
06:52 From your perspective, what's the biggest difference
06:58 that you can see between your team
06:59 when you guys are maybe not playing well
07:02 and have less energy and then to the second half?
07:05 I mean, from someone watching that game,
07:07 it looked like two completely different teams.
07:09 I'm just curious if you can maybe put into words
07:11 or explain what the difference is
07:13 when you guys are maybe clicking on all cylinders
07:15 when you're not.
07:17 Yeah, I think for us, I think I've always said it,
07:21 when we get stops on defense and are able to defend
07:25 and for a long period of time,
07:29 I think it really gives us confidence in the offensive end
07:32 because when we're able to get out and run,
07:34 that's when we're at our best, I think.
07:37 So I think just getting stops on defense,
07:40 and we did on the second half, we really locked in.
07:43 And I think that was the thing
07:45 that we were trying to focus on
07:46 because we're giving up way too many easy points.
07:49 And we were able to really come together
07:51 and find ways to get stops in the second half.
07:54 And then that led to easy offense for us.
07:56 And we really started to flow a lot better
07:59 because our confidence on defense
08:03 gave us confidence on offense.
08:05 Last question, Mason.
08:06 Trey, you and X are obviously the two captains on this team.
08:11 And being in the senior backcourt,
08:12 you guys have, I'm sure, developed a strong relationship.
08:15 During some of the anthems now
08:17 when X has his arm in his brace,
08:19 you kind of got your arm wrapped over his shoulder.
08:21 Just can you kind of delve
08:23 into a little bit of the relationship
08:24 and how you're kind of supporting him
08:26 through his injury process?
08:28 Yeah, I mean, it's definitely difficult for him.
08:32 And we all know that
08:33 because he wants to be out there competing with us.
08:36 But I've been through it
08:38 and dealt with some of those injuries like him.
08:40 So I know what he's feeling.
08:43 And it's probably one of the worst feelings ever.
08:46 So I think just us being there for him
08:48 because he's been a great teammate when he's been out.
08:52 He could easily just go the other way
08:55 because it's his last year and kind of just
08:57 like not be a good teammate
08:59 and not be there for his brothers.
09:01 But in practice, he's always talking.
09:04 And in games, he's always talking.
09:06 So I really give him a lot of credit for that,
09:08 for being a great teammate,
09:10 even though he's not playing right now.
09:11 So, I'm really appreciative of him.
