The 13th Tour of Oman, scheduled for 10 to 14 February, will serve up a five-course menu catering to all tastes, from sprinters and punchers to climbers. Its two iconic climbs —Eastern Mountain (stage 3) and Green Mountain (stage 5) will be tough nuts to crack at this point in the season.

00:00 Today is the only chance I think for the sprinters.
00:05 First chance, maybe only chance of the week.

00:18 Oman across the Aegis Museum, jumping off point before one of the longest stages of this year's race.

00:28 Winds blowing, heat is up, time to go racing.
00:31 One for the fast men, the only one for the fast men of the five stages involved.
00:37 So it needed a breakaway to form, we got that.
00:39 Five brave souls went up the road, but it was a battle of attrition, constantly for them.
00:45 There was an intermediate sprint, two in fact out there, so a golden jersey up for grabs.
00:50 But really everyone was thinking about the final sprint of the day.
00:53 There are fast men here, but thin pickings mean that this is magnified in terms of importance.
00:59 And the pace was finally up as we headed towards the coast.
01:03 The breakaway fractured, their hearts broken.
01:06 13 kilometers from home, it was handshakes for them.
01:09 And then everybody else started to line up in color order in the run for home.
01:14 Well, 13 kilometers out, Kristof had a nightmare, needed a bike change.
01:20 Very, very slow that was, but his progress back to the pack was effective.
01:25 Finally the break wound in, Kristof in place, color order in the charge for the line.
01:31 Who would get there first? Big question. One man had the answer.
01:35 Caleb Ewan piling through, brilliantly delivered.
01:39 It's been a long time since he's won one. Well, he has now.
01:43 The man is back. Kocka just edged Kristof third.
01:46 You know, I haven't won for maybe eight months now, so it's a long time with no victory.
01:51 And yeah, you know, I just wanted to win to get my confidence back, to get the team's confidence.
01:57 You know, I think they took a bit of a risk signing me, knowing I've come off two pretty average seasons.
02:02 So I really want to repay them with some victories. And hopefully that starts today.
