00:02 - Viola, leave you to it.
00:08 - It was such a gift.
00:09 Listen, Rafe is such a talented actor
00:12 that whatever he wants to transmute on screen,
00:15 he will do that.
00:16 And so of course he is formidable and intimidating
00:20 and all of these other words,
00:21 but being in a scene with him,
00:24 I don't know whether it was our characters
00:26 or the way that we both approach acting,
00:29 I felt so comfortable.
00:30 It was such a warm intimacy between the two of us
00:34 and we really took care of each other
00:35 and I think genuinely relished any time
00:39 we got to have those back and forth scenes.
00:41 It felt very, almost like a relief
00:44 because the way that Mark wanted to shoot was 360.
00:48 We were all mic'd all the time.
00:50 We were always improvising and it was incredible,
00:52 but it was also quite energetic
00:55 and I feel like any time it was Rafe and I alone,
00:59 everything kind of calmed down a little bit
01:02 and we got to just be with each other
01:04 in that more intimate space.
01:07 - Tone is a very tricky thing to talk about
01:11 and try to explain.
01:12 Whenever I read a script,
01:16 I'm always trying to picture it in my mind
01:18 of how it would look and I had no idea with this one
01:22 when I read it how it would turn out,
01:24 but there was something really exciting about that,
01:26 not knowing.
01:28 The thing that I did know was that we were in very good
01:31 hands with Mark Milod because I think a lot of people
01:34 know Succession and how wonderful,
01:38 what a wonderful job they do on that show
01:40 of turning very unlikable characters into people
01:45 who you do somehow wind up caring about in some way
01:49 and I knew that Mark was gonna be able to take this
01:53 really rogues gallery of despicable characters
01:56 and make us care about what happens to them
02:00 and Rafe Fiennes I think was just, you know,
02:05 he's a living legend, he's one of our greatest actors
02:10 and I could immediately picture him saying the lines
02:14 as I was reading the script,
02:15 but it was one thing to imagine it
02:17 and another thing to actually be there and witness
02:20 that he is just a force and a powerhouse
02:25 and has such a way with language
02:28 and we all felt like we were sitting in on a masterclass
02:32 because we got to sit back and watch Rafe
02:34 do these really great monologues to us, his audience.
02:38 (sniffles)
