00:00 We saw you all, you didn't want to talk about the record for so long, but
00:04 obviously you got pretty emotional out there just with all the tributes and
00:06 just all that.
00:07 Just what were these moments like for you today?
00:10 >> Yeah, I'm just extremely thankful.
00:13 I've played with some really, really amazing people.
00:17 I've played for the best coaches in the country.
00:19 And it's just a really special thing for
00:21 me to wear Indiana across my chest every single day and play in assembly hall.
00:25 It's just been one of the greatest blessings in my life.
00:27 So I think I just was kind of feeling that when I saw Tyra and
00:32 Amanda up there on the screen.
00:33 It's really amazing the culture that Coach Moran has built and
00:38 everyone's supportive of each other and everyone's happy for each other.
00:41 >> Todd.
00:43 >> Mackenzie, you're trying to break this record in the midst of a very
00:49 important season.
00:50 What kind of emotion do you feel in terms of mixing pride with
00:54 maybe relief a little bit?
00:56 Maybe wanting to get it done.
00:58 How have you kind of processed that as you've gotten closer?
01:01 >> I've just kind of tried to let things come to me the best I can.
01:06 Obviously, people talk about it, you see it being talked about throughout the season.
01:11 And going into the season, I knew it was within reach for me.
01:14 But it wasn't something that, I didn't come back for
01:17 a fifth year to break the all time leading scoring record.
01:20 I came back to win Big Ten championship, win a national championship.
01:23 So that's kind of what I've had to just continue to remind myself
01:27 throughout this process.
01:29 >> Mike.
01:30 >> Yeah, Mackenzie, in the fourth quarter, did you know where you were at?
01:34 Was there any kind of talk about getting in and then getting out?
01:38 I mean, did you feel added pressure sort of in those pulping moments?
01:42 >> I think they were trying to look for me in the post,
01:45 especially in that fourth quarter.
01:47 I knew I was close, just I could feel the energy.
01:52 When I was one bucket away, I knew.
01:55 So it was just a matter of just letting things come to me.
01:58 I know my teammates are always gonna find me, so I wasn't too worried.
02:01 >> Chloe, over here.
02:05 Just your thoughts on Mackenzie playing now the all time leading scorer,
02:10 and were you getting nervous for her?
02:12 >> I'm not nervous at all.
02:14 Mackenzie is an exceptional player, and she's somebody that I get to see every day.
02:19 But I mean, her talent, she's an All-American.
02:21 She amazes me every time I step on the court with her.
02:23 >> Second row in the middle.
02:25 >> Chloe, two of your best offensive performances have came against Purdue
02:29 this season.
02:30 What's been going right for you, and how do you keep this going?
02:33 >> Yeah, I mean, I think this against Purdue, it just means more.
02:37 And I mean, I'm always competitive, but
02:39 I think it's just different when it's a rival team.
02:41 >> Front row on the black.
02:44 >> Mackenzie, your first game here at Assembly Hall was a crowd of 2,800 today
02:51 over 13,000.
02:52 What has this fan base meant to you in your journey?
02:54 >> I mean, 2,800, 13,000 people show up for women's basketball here.
03:01 And when they do show up, they're loud, they're involved in the game.
03:03 I think that's been the best part here is the fans here, they just get it.
03:08 They know basketball, they feel the momentum of the game.
03:11 It doesn't matter how many people are in the gym.
03:13 But when you're in Assembly Hall, you know that you're gonna get a bunch of fans
03:17 that know the game of basketball.
03:18 And they're like a sixth man for us.
03:20 They feel the momentum, they know when we need to stop, when we need to score.
03:24 So like I've said time and time again,
03:28 this is the best arena in college basketball, men's or women's.
03:31 And I stand by that.
03:33 >> So Chloe, as somebody else who was on the court with Mackenzie,
03:38 in these moments as she made history, just what was that like?
03:41 Obviously, it kind of felt like the whole building was on the edge of their seat as
03:44 she was getting close.
03:44 What was it like to be out there on the court in those moments?
03:47 >> I mean, in those moments, you're just in awe of the crowd, of the atmosphere.
03:51 You soak it all in as well.
03:53 You're always happy for
03:54 a teammate that makes such a great accomplishment, and she deserved that.
03:57 >> Second round.
04:00 >> Mackenzie, the other night you talked about the fact that you won the sweep
04:03 Purdue, that was the biggest thing.
04:05 And now you've done that and you've gotten the scoring records.
04:08 So at the same time, just what does that mean to you to actually come in here and
04:13 sweep your rivals all five seasons?
04:17 >> Yeah, it's incredible.
04:18 Obviously, we know we can see them in the Big Ten tournament, so
04:21 it might not be the very last time we see them.
04:24 But for regular season, and I told the girls before the game,
04:27 this rivalry means a lot to a lot of people.
04:30 Even people who don't necessarily watch Indiana women's basketball,
04:33 they're gonna watch it just because of the rivalry.
04:35 And I think that it's a special rivalry and we take it very seriously.
04:39 So it's been nice to be able to beat them each year.
04:44 >> Mike, and then we'll finish with Lou.
04:46 >> Yeah, what is Terry, I mean, Terry,
04:47 we'll just sign as you kind of walk back to the bench.
04:49 What's kind of been her message throughout this to you and
04:52 kind of how she helped guide you through the pressures of facing this?
04:58 >> We haven't talked about it once, her and I.
05:01 We haven't discussed the record.
05:04 I think she knows, I know, and I know she knows.
05:06 So we didn't talk about it before going into the game.
05:10 I think she knows that that wasn't, it's not my main focus.
05:13 It never was my main focus.
05:15 So we just focused on the task at hand and the win.
05:18 >> Last one, Lou.
05:20 >> For Chloe, this is the ninth straight year that Indiana's won at least 20 games.
05:25 And Mac referred to the culture that's been built.
05:29 How much have you seen of that culture improve, grow, and
05:35 take hold in this town with the fan base since you've been here?
05:38 >> Yeah, I think our culture has evolved and our fan base has definitely grown a lot.
05:43 I mean, I think every single year I've been here,
05:45 I've had such a great bond with all of the girls that have ran through IU, so.
05:49 >> Thanks, guys.
05:52 >> Thank you.
