00:13 Number 20. Fencing. Die Another Day.
00:22 "Let's do this the old-fashioned way. First blood drawn from the torso."
00:27 What, you've never had an all-out brawl that stretched across an entire social club before?
00:32 Apparently 007 is on a whole new level of fencing.
00:35 It's not just the crazy battle between Bond and Gustav Graves that stands out in this film,
00:45 but the completely dismissive attitude afterwards. You'd think after grabbing
00:49 swords and throwing punches that the two men wouldn't be as calm as they are,
00:52 but with a simple laugh, Graves declares Bond the winner, and everyone goes about their business.
00:57 Too bad, because for the duration of the fight,
00:59 we thought the film had actually found its footing.
01:02 "Seems you beat me, Mr. Bond."
01:03 Number 19. It Was Tuesday. Street Fighter.
01:11 "It was 20 years ago. You hadn't promoted yourself to general yet.
01:17 You were just a petty drug lord."
01:20 Remember when we still had hopes for video game adaptations? Alright,
01:23 maybe we never really had those, but in the catalog of disappointing video game adaptations,
01:28 the Street Fighter 1 has at least one shining moment.
01:31 Raul Junia's performance as the power-mad dictator M. Bison.
01:35 "Of course!"
01:36 This character alone makes the movie worth watching,
01:38 as every Bison scene is more entertaining than the last.
01:41 "Not for power, not for evil, but for good."
01:48 But nothing compares to his response to the captured Chun-Li's seething hatred for him.
01:52 He remarks that her father's death was merely a "Tuesday."
01:56 "For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life.
02:05 But for me, it was Tuesday."
02:10 Number 18. Sparring With Angelica. Pirates of the Caribbean on Stranger Tides.
02:16 You might say that 'At World's End' could have closed out a Pirates trilogy,
02:21 and on Stranger Tides was unnecessary from the get-go.
02:24 While most of the franchise's fourth installment has since been forgotten,
02:32 meeting Penelope Cruz's Angelica was a pleasantly surprising moment.
02:42 While on the trail of a Captain Sparrow imposter,
02:45 Jack clashed swords with an enemy who was not so stranger after all.
02:49 "Only one person alive knows that move."
02:56 It turns out she was a former lover in disguise,
02:59 and the fight ended with the two locking lips instead of blades.
03:03 "I've always wanted to do that. And I'm Angelica."
03:08 The narrative switchback harkened back to the swashbuckling fun of the early films,
03:12 and introduced one of the movie's better characters.
03:15 Recognizing Angelica from a signature sparring move, not her looks, was Vintage Jack.
03:21 And we remembered why we love him.
03:23 "Don't worry, Jack. I forgave you a long time ago."
03:26 "For what? For leaving you?"
03:28 "Recall that I left you."
03:30 Number 17. The Final Chase. The Lone Ranger.
03:34 An updated Lone Ranger isn't something that we were exactly clamoring to see on the big screen,
03:40 especially if it was going to look like this.
03:43 "Horse dead."
03:43 "I can see that. Now what?"
03:46 There is at least one good scene in the movie. Unfortunately, it's at the very end.
03:51 After two hours of questionable casting choices, dull humor, and unremarkable action,
03:56 we finally get something that's worth a bit of excitement.
04:02 The titular Lone Ranger goes riding across buildings on horseback,
04:06 jumps onto a train and barely makes it into the tunnel,
04:09 then engages in a shootout while still riding on horseback inside a train.
04:12 Yeah, just fast forward until you hear that iconic theme.
04:29 Number 16. Escape from Isla Nublar. Jurassic World - Fallen Kingdom.
04:35 The largely unloved Jurassic World follow-ups are not great arguments
04:39 to support Hollywood's sequel craze.
04:41 "We need to get on that boat."
04:42 "The rock's good. We're safe on the rock."
04:44 Fallen Kingdom didn't come with the nostalgia and tongue-in-cheek humor like its predecessor,
04:49 but it did come with this poignant escape sequence.
04:58 As an erupting volcano drowns Isla Nublar in flames,
05:02 our heroes race to board a frantically departing ship.
05:05 "Hold on!"
05:06 As they look back, the action slows to mourn the dying island as it's consumed by ash.
05:16 The movie has already offered debate as to whether or not the dinosaurs should be saved,
05:21 but this moment makes it feel real.
05:23 The heartbreak is genuine, made resonant by the lost animal's cries
05:27 and the actor's believable reactions.
05:30 And we can't forget that last brachiosaurus vanishing in the distance.
05:34 No, you're crying.
05:35 Number 15. Harley Quinn's introduction. Suicide Squad.
05:45 "I should kill everyone and escape?
05:46 Sorry. The voices."
05:52 DC had a pretty rough 2016, as both Batman vs. Superman and Suicide Squad
05:57 were met with rather mediocre responses.
05:59 But one thing that most agreed on was Margot Robbie's portrayal as Harley Quinn.
06:03 Okay, bad writing meant that that got mixed reviews, too.
06:06 "Huh? What was that?"
06:09 But her intro was pretty fun, right?
06:11 From the cage dancing to delighting in Mr. J killing a guy,
06:15 it's a pretty solid portrayal of Quinn.
06:17 "Come on, Puddin'. Do it!"
06:20 Only to be interrupted by Batman, because of course he just had to ruin a date night.
06:25 It's a glimpse of the craziness of the couple,
06:27 even if the rest of the movie glosses over the whole abusive psychopath thing.
06:30 "Oh, I'm not gonna kill you. I'm just gonna hurt you. Really, really bad."
06:39 "You think so? Well, I can take it."
06:43 Number 14. The Forest Fight. Transformers. Revenge of the Fallen.
06:47 You know it's a bad sign when the lead actor and director
06:50 essentially admit that the movie is, quote, "crap," unquote.
06:53 "Break down the elemental components of energon,
06:55 assume a constant K-rate, extrapolate each of them."
06:56 "14 galactic convergences took the central prime expedition from Steven Haggis."
07:01 This film is basically the equivalent of a kid grabbing two robots and
07:05 smashing them into each other while sprinkling in
07:07 bad one-liners at every chance they get because comedy, right?
07:10 Oh, and don't forget girls.
07:16 "Sam?"
07:16 "Mikaela."
07:20 "Is that your girlfriend?"
07:22 That being said, The Forest Fight is definitely something to write home about.
07:26 Optimus Prime does what he does best,
07:28 kicking Decepticon butt despite being completely outnumbered.
07:31 "I'll take you all on!"
07:33 It's exactly what you want out of a Transformers movie,
07:40 complete with the heroic, albeit temporary, death of Optimus Prime.
07:43 "You're so weak."
07:48 "You're so weak."
07:55 Number 13.
07:56 Snake Eyes and Jinx vs. Ninjas.
07:59 G.I. Joe Retaliation.
08:01 Honestly, we're not sure how we got a sequel after the first film,
08:04 but hey, at least this one got one scene right.
08:07 You definitely have to turn your brain off for this fight sequence,
08:14 as it completely abandons the laws of physics in favor of some admittedly fun over-the-top action.
08:20 A battle against ninjas via zip-lining through mountains?
08:29 Check.
08:30 Running along the mountainside for slow-motion sword fights,
08:33 like video game characters waiting for reaction commands?
08:36 Check.
08:42 Surviving an avalanche that you purposely caused with your cargo intact as if nothing happened?
08:47 All we can say is, "Yo, Joe."
08:49 Number 12.
08:54 The Wirecutter.
08:56 Ghost Ship.
08:57 This opening sequence of Ghost Ship is bloody, gorgeous, and haunting.
09:01 On a 1960s ocean liner, a dreamy diva creates the perfect atmosphere with a hypnotizing aria.
09:08 An adorable young girl assembles Scrabble letters to read "I'm bored."
09:12 She playfully joins everyone else on the dance floor,
09:15 until a rogue wire slices all of the adults in half.
09:18 It's a gruesome, yet undeniably clever way to go.
09:30 Straight out of an episode of A Thousand Ways to Die.
09:36 It's a shame that viewers found the rest of the movie drab, predictable, and devoid of scares.
09:41 The subtle moments of nuanced character and chilling ambiance never reappear.
09:46 Approximately 89 minutes of Ghost Ship are bland and ordinary,
09:50 but the first three might occupy your nightmares rent-free.
09:54 Number 11.
09:58 The Light Cycles.
10:00 Tron Legacy.
10:01 Eye candy at its very best, there's not much to this movie when it comes to story and character.
10:06 "Mr. Flynn?
10:06 Why?"
10:10 But man, is it ever a visual masterpiece.
10:13 This scene encapsulates the very best parts of the film,
10:16 as Sam watches those iconic light cycles in action.
10:18 As cool as it is to see them digitize into the grid,
10:21 it's Sam's slow-motion run accompanied by Daft Punk's fantastic soundtrack
10:25 that really sets the tone for the best three minutes of this Tron sequel.
10:28 The twists and turns, the hard hits, the clever teamwork,
10:31 all of it creates a scene you'll definitely want to watch on repeat.

10:43 Number 10.
10:44 Birth of Sandman.
10:45 Spider-Man 3.
10:46 "There's a change in the silicon mask."
10:48 "It's probably a bird. It'll fly away when we fire it up."
10:50 Like the other villains in this overstuffed superhero flick,
10:54 the Sandman mostly fell flat on a character level,
10:57 but at least his powers made leeway for some stunning special effects.
11:01 Flint Marko's transformation into the Sandman is easily among the most
11:05 atmospheric and breathtaking moments in the film.
11:08 After becoming one with the sand, Flint has trouble pulling himself together.
11:11 [Sounds of a Sandman]
11:15 Upon spotting his daughter's locket, however,
11:17 the newly born Sandman summons the strength to push forward.
11:21 Rather than relying on dialogue, this scene allows the visuals to tell the story.
11:25 Every grain of sand brings out Flint's confusion, shock, and ultimately, determination,
11:31 exploring a wide array of emotions in just a couple of minutes.

11:38 Number 9.
11:39 Battle Through Time.
11:40 X-Men Origins.
11:42 Wolverine.
11:42 - "I'm coming."
11:43 - "I don't think I'll make it."
11:44 - "Can you run?"

11:45 The X-Men franchise hit a low point with this frustrating origin story.
11:49 During its opening credits though,
11:51 audiences likely thought that they were about to watch a solid film.
11:55 The sequence follows half-brothers James and Victor as they fight through several wars.
12:00 Beginning in the American Civil War, we jump from World War I to World War II to Vietnam.
12:06 Aside from showing how much time has passed,
12:08 the scene effectively conveys the carnage these two ageless mutants have endured over the years,
12:14 and the toll it's taken on their humanity.
12:16 The slick editing and powerful imagery makes the entire sequence feel like a living graphic novel.
12:22 [Sounds of a Sandman]
12:25 Number 8.
12:26 History of Baseball.
12:27 The Ridiculous Six.
12:28 - "Welcome my friends, to the first ever playing of a new sport."
12:34 During their travels, our heroes cross paths with Abner Doubleday,
12:38 the man once widely believed to have invented baseball.
12:42 According to this Adam Sandler comedy,
12:44 Doubleday actually intended the sport to be called Sticky McSchnickens.
12:48 He also apparently made up all the rules as he went along.
12:51 - "What are you gonna call this game?"
12:52 - "What else? Sticky McSchnickens."
12:56 When you really think about it,
12:58 the guidelines of baseball do sometimes seem haphazard in nature.
13:02 Why are players allowed to steal bases?
13:05 How did they decide on three strikes?
13:07 Why are there only nine innings?
13:09 This scene provides several ridiculous explanations,
13:12 hitting it out of the park with one big laugh after another.
13:15 Too bad the rest of the film is more of a strikeout.
13:18 - "You can just run all the way home!"
13:21 "A home runner! I need a cold drink!"
13:24 Number 7. Warehouse Fight.
13:27 Batman vs. Superman - Dawn of Justice.
13:30 Character development might not be a strong suit,
13:35 but we'd be lying if we said Zack Snyder didn't know how to shoot a cool action sequence.
13:40 Interestingly enough, the best set piece in this film
13:43 wasn't the titular fight between Batman and Superman,
13:46 but the Dark Knight's warehouse assault.
13:48 - "Ahh!"
13:49 On a mission to save
13:51 - "Murther!"
13:53 Batman crashes in on Lex Luthor's kidnappers for hire.
13:56 Thus ensues an exceptionally choreographed scene
13:59 that showcases Batman's stealth and fighting skills to their fullest extent.
14:03 He also breaks out plenty of neat gadgets in the process,
14:13 taking down multiple thugs simultaneously.
14:15 Batman truly feels like a one-man army here,
14:18 reminding us why criminals everywhere fear the cape and cowl.
14:21 Number 6. Final Shootout - Miami Vice.
14:26 Following in the footsteps of many other movies based on nostalgic TV shows,
14:33 Miami Vice failed to capture the appeal of its source material.
14:36 With director Michael Mann behind the camera, however,
14:39 this 2006 adaptation did offer one striking scene.
14:43 The film naturally builds up to a final shootout,
14:46 where Sonny and Rico blow away a slew of human targets.
14:49 Cinematographer Dion Beebe throws us right into the middle of the action,
14:56 making the surrounding gunfire all the more heated.
14:59 The audience can feel every brutal kill,
15:01 particularly when Rico takes down cartel security and intelligence man Jose Hierro.
15:07 Though thoroughly forgettable as a whole,
15:09 Miami Vice certainly manages to go out on a high note.
15:13 Number 5. Creation - Noah.
15:16 "Let me tell you a story."
15:17 Even if you thought Darren Aronofsky's biblical epic was a total shipwreck,
15:21 it's hard not to appreciate this particular scene.
15:25 Early on, Noah tells his family the story of their world's creation.
15:28 "In the beginning, there was nothing.
15:32 Nothing but the silence of an infinite darkness."
15:37 While Noah's words are reminiscent of what you read in the Bible,
15:40 the images on screen feel like a highly stylized science program.
15:45 Mixing elements of both creationism and evolution,
15:48 we're taken on a journey through time that starts with the Big Bang,
15:51 and leads up to Adam and Eve.
15:53 "They ate from the forbidden fruit. Their innocence is extinguished."
15:59 Bound to spark some interesting debates,
16:01 there are numerous different ways to interpret this sequence,
16:04 which quite frankly would have made for a great standalone short film.
16:08 "Everything that was beautiful, everything that was good, we shattered."
16:13 Number 4. First-Person Shooter - Doom.
16:17 "I know you. You're my brother."
16:20 Video game movies are notorious for being dead on arrival, and Doom is no exception.
16:26 During the film's climactic battle, however,
16:29 we're finally treated to five blissful minutes of pure fan service.
16:33 Paying homage to its source material,
16:35 the film shifts to a first-person perspective as Reaper shoots his way out of a research facility.
16:41 Navigating through a dark, creepy environment with deadly predators lurking around every corner,
16:46 the audience feels as if they're part of the action.
16:49 For a few fleeting moments,
16:51 this film successfully brings the original survival horror game to life.
16:55 If only the rest of the movie went all out on a hardcore Henry approach.
17:05 "I'm shutting you down, mate."
17:06 Number 3. Battle of Britain - Pearl Harbor.
17:13 "Bombers dead ahead. Let's drop in on 'em and give 'em a reception."
17:17 One gets the sense that Michael Bay was trying to make the next
17:21 Titanic with this historical love story.
17:23 Instead, Bay proved once again that he's not exactly a thinking man's director.
17:29 With that said, Bay's knack for action is put to effective use in a couple of scenes.
17:34 The highlight of the film isn't the main attack on Pearl Harbor,
17:37 but rather the Battle of Britain.
17:38 "Nice shot, Red 2."
17:40 Volunteering to fight alongside the British Royal Air Force,
17:43 American pilot Rafe McCrawley takes off for the most intense flight of his life.
17:48 "I'm under fire! I'm taking fire!"
17:50 The cinematography, sound, and visuals create a genuine sense of dread,
17:55 especially as Rafe's plane plummets down to what looks like his watery end.
17:59 "Oh my God."

18:03 Number 2. Freeway Chase - The Matrix Reloaded
18:11 As much as everybody wanted to like The Matrix Reloaded,
18:19 we just couldn't forgive the film's meandering dialogue and unfocused plot.
18:24 Nonetheless, the Wachowskis did deliver one action sequence that lived up to the first installment.
18:29 With the twins and multiple agents hot on their trail,
18:32 Morpheus and Trinity attempt to get the keymaker across a crowded freeway.
18:37 In what could have been a standard car chase, the filmmakers throw kung fu, gunplay,
18:42 and explosions into the equation, amounting to an insanely inventive spectacle that never slows down.
18:48 The fact that this set piece was primarily executed using practical effects only adds
18:53 to the awe factor, leaving the audience struggling to catch their breath.
18:57 "He's okay, keep moving." "Let's go."
