Why are some top Tories backing Trump?

00:00 When will the Tory love affair with Donald Trump come to an end?
00:03 This week yet another Conservative MP has endorsed the former president.
00:07 So John Hayes, a Tory member of parliament, says a second Trump term will be good for the UK
00:11 and that Trump restored faith in democracy when he was last in the White House.
00:14 So this is just the latest Conservative politician to back Trump.
00:17 Boris Johnson recently said that Trump could "be just what the world needs" if he got back into office.
00:22 Jacob Rees-Mogg said he would prefer Trump to Joe Biden in the White House.
00:26 Susan Hall, the Tory candidate for mayor of London, has been a Trump supporter in the past
00:30 and Liz Truss, the short-serving former PM, has also said she wants Biden out of the White House.
00:35 Now other Conservative MPs have distanced themselves from the former president
00:39 but the party seems really divided on this.
00:41 So with the next US election in November, will Conservatives be cheering on Trump?
