00:57 ladies and gentlemen, it is a great honor for me
01:03 to receive you, the Super Eagles.

01:14 As a team, you taught us lessons of resilience,
01:19 togetherness, diversity, and excitement.
01:25 Nigeria may not as such itself, but you win all the games.
01:44 Find your way through the challenges, the humidity,
01:51 love your other clubs, and honor your country.
01:58 You gave us a great excitement.

02:07 To many of us, we understand sport, competitive football
02:15 is unpredictable, but we were determined.
02:22 We salute your resilience.
02:26 You lifted our spirits.
02:29 You made us proud.
02:32 You made us smile as Nigerians.

02:42 It is not easy to absorb a loss,
02:49 particularly when the expectations are high.
02:55 But you demonstrated sportsmanship, resiliency,
03:04 and teamship in the entire exercise.
03:12 That is what I've come to stand for, the unity
03:18 and resilience of the continent, the spirit of the continent.
03:24 We are very proud being in Nigeria.
03:29 I am proud of you, too.
03:33 This country has a long spirit and year ahead of it.
03:45 To give you the promise of development, prosperity,
03:56 and turning the ship around, you have done a great job.

04:09 The fact that I wasn't there in person,
04:19 you are the symbol of what West African stands for.
04:27 If you may not understand, I am the chairman of ECOWAS.

04:53 But this is our children demonstrating their talent
04:59 and exhibiting their character.

06:04 I wish Nigeria politics is like that, using our diversity

06:19 No matter how celebrative the end of the game was,
06:27 the final result was it retains its destination in West Africa.

06:39 So there are so many things to look forward to.
06:43 And those of you traveling and seeking, you know,
06:48 green and pastel, representing various clubs,
06:54 you are more identified and identifiable to us.
07:02 You are in the lips of mothers, sisters, and brothers.
07:09 You are a very great example to our atheming population of youths.
07:17 Just don't forget that.
07:19 You have that responsibility to get more for our youths at home.
07:31 I salute this management for the effort
07:37 to put the team together.
07:43 It's not easy.
07:46 Yes, you have Monday morning captain and coaches,
07:52 analysis, and all of that.
07:57 We live with the result.
08:01 In our diversity, we are proud.
08:04 In our collective effort, we are very proud and honored.
08:11 Here today, I salute you as the president
08:21 of Federal Republic of Nigeria.
08:24 I salute you as the president of the United Nations.

08:52 Members of the orders of Nigeria,
08:56 it is yours to keep forever, to be honored by your country.

09:43 the minister of FC, who had promised a plot of land
09:52 for each and every player.

10:23 let me yield a second to you to address the audience
10:30 before I conclude.

10:36 Your excellency, Mr. President.
10:40 I just want to show you that one of you, or more of you,
10:47 are participating in this issue.

10:54 And we won't leave you out.
11:02 We will consult with you for what you believe
11:10 can facilitate and promote sport development.
11:15 I'm going, as a president, to attract greater private sector
11:21 investment in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

11:29 We have to grow that.
11:38 And be a superstar sport promoter
11:45 for the sake of our country.
11:48 Many of you may in future become managers of this league system.
11:55 I want to say once again that I am proud of you.

12:09 And Nigeria is proud of you.

12:17 The African play of the year, as I see,
12:21 you work your heart out.
12:27 Not every challenge is divine, but character is important.
12:39 I saw each and every one on the field.
12:43 And substitutes play in their heart.
12:53 For the sake of Nigeria and Africa as a whole,
13:00 you are a lifter of spirits.
13:02 Thank you very, very much.

13:20 saw when the award was handed over to you,
13:26 I could read how you feel.
13:28 This is not exactly what you want.
13:33 You want your heart of that gold.
13:39 Most of you were stacked.
13:41 I watch every minute of analysis.

13:51 I was growing up.
13:55 And I know the coach was sweating badly and profusely.
14:03 You've tried your best.
14:05 You've given Nigeria the spirit that is necessary at this point
14:11 in time.
14:13 And you've given West Africa the glory
14:17 of keeping the cup.
