00:00 If you want to live your life, live it all the way and don't you waste it.
00:02 Na na na na na.
00:04 Taste it.
00:06 You know what fun that is?
00:07 On the floor?
00:08 Is it on the floor?
00:09 Live it up?
00:10 Dance again?
00:11 Hi, I'm Jennifer Lopez and I'm going to guess some of my favorite movie lines.
00:16 Oh my God, you castrated him!
00:25 I hope I didn't say it like that in the movie.
00:28 I believe that this was the wedding planner.
00:30 Oh my God, you castrated him!
00:36 I knew it was one of the romantic comedies.
00:38 Why else would you say that?
00:40 The rumba is the vertical expression of a horizontal wish.
00:44 Oh yes, that was me in, oh obviously, Shall We Dance.
00:53 The rumba is the vertical expression of a horizontal wish.
00:58 That whole movie, it was all full of dancers, ballroom dancers.
01:02 I had never danced ballroom in my life.
01:04 I had done some flamenco when I was little and I just really found it so challenging.
01:12 Everybody's like, "Oh, you're a dancer.
01:13 It's going to be easy."
01:14 It was so hard.
01:15 I had a great time with all the dancers and getting into that whole world.
01:18 It was a lot of fun and Richard was great.
01:20 I thought you wanted to be my bitch.
01:24 I thought you wanted to be my bitch.
01:31 That was Gigli.
01:32 I said that to Ben.
01:33 I thought you wanted to be my bitch.
01:38 The first time meeting him on that film was at the read-through.
01:42 They did a read-through of the whole thing and I remember just walking in and I think
01:46 he was outside smoking a cigarette and I saw him and we just talked for like a minute and
01:51 then I sat down and we did the read-through.
01:53 I don't remember a whole bunch more about it, but I remember being on the set with him
01:58 every day and loving it.
02:01 Do you think you and Ben will ever work together again?
02:04 I don't know, in the right thing maybe.
02:06 In the right thing.
02:07 I mean, we love working together and being together, so maybe.
02:11 The game is rigged and it does not reward people who play by the rules.
02:15 That was Ramona in Hustlers.
02:17 Yes, that was one of my favorite lines.
02:20 Because it's true, the game is motherfucking rigged.
02:22 Oh baby, this game is rigged and it does not reward people who play by the rules.
02:30 I have two asses.
02:33 Did I say that?
02:36 Was that?
02:37 It had to be one of two movies.
02:40 Either The Backup Plan or Monster-in-Law.
02:44 It was Monster-in-Law?
02:46 I have two asses.
02:50 Did you really slap Jane Fonda?
02:52 Yes.
02:53 I slapped her hard and she slapped me hard too.
02:57 And I actually gave her a bruise in her eye.
03:00 Because she started like, we slapped and slapped and then she did something else.
03:04 Like she hit my forehead and so then I hit her forehead back but I missed and I hit her
03:09 like here and she had this big like blood blister on her eye.
03:14 It's awful but I love Jane.
03:16 Jane's my girl.
03:18 The first time you saw me I was cleaning your bathroom floor only you didn't see me.
03:21 Made of Manhattan.
03:23 It's funny that I remember these lines.
03:25 The first time you saw me I was cleaning your bathroom floor only you didn't see me.
03:29 I've been thinking about the crossover tour a lot.
03:31 I've even had dreams about it.
03:33 It's just this whole different world for us, you know?
03:35 We've been working for this ever since we were kids.
03:37 I guess I'm a little scared.
03:39 That was Selena.
03:40 That was Selena.
03:42 You see how bad the lines can sound if you're not really acting?
03:46 I've been thinking about the crossover tour a lot.
03:52 I've even had dreams about it.
03:55 That was when I kind of became famous.
03:57 I had been doing television and actually had done a few movies already.
04:00 But with Selena there was like a new level of fame.
04:04 I remember walking down the street the first time and somebody calling my name and thinking
04:08 it was somebody who knew me.
04:09 I turned around and I didn't know him.
04:11 This person came up to me and was like, "Hi!
04:14 Jennifer!"
04:15 I was like...
04:17 And I got so freaked out.
04:19 I was like, "Oh my God.
04:21 I'm not anonymous anymore.
04:23 I can't just walk down the street.
04:25 If somebody calls me it's not somebody I know.
04:28 It's somebody I don't know."
04:30 That was such a huge adjustment period for me.
04:33 But then you kind of get used to it and embrace it and see it for what it is, which is kind
04:38 of like love.
04:41 You try getting ready quickly when you look like this.
04:43 I'm so fat and there's going to be nothing but beautiful skinny girls there.
04:48 Is that the backup plan?
04:49 Oh!
04:50 Oh!
04:51 Oh!
04:52 No, no, no, no, no.
04:53 Oh, this was Jersey Girl.
04:54 That's when I was like, "I want to be a coked out whore."
04:57 They're just skinny because they're all coked out whores.
05:00 I want to be a coked out whore!
05:02 Was it true that you were wearing the wedding dress from Jersey Girl when you married Ben?
05:08 No, that's not true.
05:10 I wish it was.
05:11 I wish I did have that dress.
05:13 I don't have that dress.
05:15 No, no.
05:16 This was a different dress that I had.
05:19 Believe it or not, I was doing so much press for marry me or shotgun wedding or one of
05:24 those.
05:25 So I had all these wedding dresses in my house.
05:28 And when we, at the spur of the moment, decided to get married that day, I just had a dress.
05:35 It's not from a movie.
05:36 Yeah, I never wore it in a movie.
05:38 It was just, I had it because I was doing photo shoots and performances of marry me
05:44 everywhere and blah, blah, blah that time.
05:46 If you want to live your life, live it all the way until you're 80.
05:48 This is a song.
05:50 You know what fun that is?
05:51 "On the Floor"?
05:52 Is it "On the Floor"?
05:53 "Live It Up"?
05:54 "Dance Again"?
05:55 If you want to live your life, live it all the way until you're 80.
06:00 Oh, "Let's Get Loud."
06:01 Okay.
06:02 If you want to live your life, live it all the way and don't you waste it.
06:09 It's become a different type of song.
06:11 When I first did it, it was kind of like, "Let's Get Loud, let's have a party."
06:14 I was in my 20s.
06:15 It was a different thing.
06:17 And then when I did it at the Super Bowl, it took on a much greater meaning.
06:23 And it has become kind of like a battle cry for anybody who has suffered any injustices
06:30 to really raise your voices.
06:31 And for women at that time, and even before that, the few years preceding that, kind of
06:36 like speaking up for yourself.
06:38 Now "Let's Get Loud" means open your mouth, say what you need to say, use your voice.
06:44 You said you want my love and you've got to have it all, but first there are some things
06:47 you need...
06:48 Oh, this is my very first song, "If You Have My Love."
06:52 Yes, I should have known that quicker.
06:54 Yes.
06:55 You said you want my love and you've got to have it all.
07:00 I did not write this song, but now I full out write all my songs.
07:04 They were collecting songs for me back then is how they used to do it.
07:07 And then I used to respond to them and then I used to make them my own.
07:10 I think I've always had this kind of message through my songs of love and kind of for women
07:17 to stand up for themselves or anybody to stand up for themselves in a relationship.
07:21 And that's kind of been a theme in my relationships.
07:24 They're about love and heartbreak and kind of finding the perfect relationship for yourself
07:30 and wanting that.
07:31 What can you tell us about your new album?
07:33 Oh my God, it's called "This Is Me Now," which we announced last year on the 20th anniversary
07:38 of "This Is Me Then."
07:39 Because we had the album actually all written and done when I announced it last year.
07:44 And since then I've kind of just been doing other things that are very special, kind of
07:49 creating this whole musical experience for this album because I feel like it was such
07:53 a special thing that happened.
07:57 Becoming inspired to write that when Ben and I got back together, being that the first
08:01 album was when we were together 20 years ago, I wrote that one.
08:05 And so then this one was a new chapter in that experience.
08:08 It's almost like closing the loop in a way.
08:12 I think it's going to speak for itself, but it's definitely a love letter.
