The Pittsburgh Steelers cut three players earlier this week.
Transcript
00:00 Let's start with the first round of cuts that the Pittsburgh Steelers have made this offseason.
00:05 They're the first team to make any cuts in the offseason.
00:08 They get rid of Mitch Trubisky, Chuksa Korfor, and Presley Harbin.
00:12 Saves them just over $12 million.
00:15 I believe the number's $12.65 million in salary cap space.
00:19 They're still about $4 million over the cap number.
00:24 Easy to get down.
00:25 We expect more releases to come, more cuts to come.
00:29 When you look at these first four, what was the message that you saw?
00:33 What was the message that you believe the Pittsburgh Steelers sent?
00:35 Yeah, I mean, none of these cuts in particular are very surprising.
00:39 I mean, Mitch Trubisky, it felt like he was on his way out ever since he got benched for
00:44 Kenny Pickett, quite honestly, last year.
00:46 Chuksa Korfor, kind of the same thing when he got replaced by Broderick Jones and then
00:51 Presley Harbin.
00:52 You know, it felt like they were never going to get rid of him, but you know, that all
00:56 makes sense.
00:57 Yeah, this is – like I said, none of this is particularly surprising, but I think the
01:02 timing of it is.
01:04 This is – the Pittsburgh Steelers is not really an organization I think of, or at least
01:09 in my experience, that has been this level of decisive and quick with their movements
01:14 and kind of just really decisive about moves like these.
01:21 Like it feels like they have at certain times dragged things out a little bit, but this
01:26 I think reflects a very clear vision of what they want for the future.
01:30 And I mean, these were obvious moves, but they made them quickly and they wanted to
01:33 move on to bigger and better things.
01:36 So they need to know what kind of cap space they're dealing with, and these are a bunch
01:39 of big moves that clear up a ton of space for them moving forward.
