Anna and Adrian Buckley, co-owners of Mindful Memorials.
Transcript
00:00 So I'm Anna Buckley, one of the co-owners of Mindful Memorials.
00:05 And I'm Adrian Buckley, Anna's husband, also one of the co-owners of Mindful Memorials.
00:11 So tell me about Mindful Memorials.
00:13 So Mindful Memorials has a very holistic approach to creating memorials for our clients.
00:21 And we're very aware of the fact that our door is a door that's difficult for people to come through.
00:29 So the approach is, we take a mindful approach so that when people come to see us,
00:36 everything that they experience as they walk through the door is comforting.
00:42 So we look at the interior decor, we try to make it colourful, we use lots of plants.
00:49 We provide nice coffee, tea, so that when they sit down, hopefully that's a comfort.
00:56 Calming music. So everything is done to try and calm the nervous system down and help people to feel comfortable.
01:05 What we find then is that it means that we can talk comfortably with our clients,
01:12 so they can open up to us, tell us the stories about the person that they've lost.
01:17 And hopefully during that time we then get a sense of what we can create.
01:22 So we can look at the symbology, we can talk to them about the type of lettering that they want to use,
01:27 do they want to use a phrase that their loved one used to use a lot that's meaningful to them,
01:34 the epitaph, or sometimes we use lyrics of their favourite song.
01:38 So all of this enables us to then ensure that the memorial that we create is very meaningful for our clients.
01:47 We try and make it not a commodity anymore, so I think other, in the past, other masons see it as a commodity.
01:54 We don't see it as a commodity at all, we want to make sure we feel who that person is
02:00 and we create something that reflects that person.
