00:00 A young Canadian who had her way with the Challengers last year, we'll catch up with Erin Sauvé.
00:05 Yeah, I'm excited to...
00:06 Coming to Canada feels a lot more familiar and I've skied a kicking horse before
00:13 and I'm pretty excited to be back on home turf with snow that feels comfortable and like home.
00:20 And I'm also super excited to have some friends and family here and supporting me
00:25 and yeah, just feeling a lot more at home.
00:28 My strategy to pass the cut, well, number one is stay on my feet, that's a big one,
00:34 and just pick lines that I feel comfortable with and that I'm excited to ride.
00:40 All right, Erin Sauvé, this is her home event. She's from just around the corner in Rosslyn.
00:46 She's the snow school director at Red Mountain.
00:48 Last year, she absolutely crushed the Challenger Series, taking first, first, and first.
00:53 And she had a bit of a rough one in Verbier,
00:57 just kind of figuring it out. It was her first time doing visual inspection,
01:00 which is definitely a huge thing to do on the Vecte Ross.
01:02 But Erin Sauvé now, the Canadian rider, is on the face.
01:06 I'm excited to see what she comes up with here.
01:08 You know, all the qualifier riders have ridden this venue,
01:11 coming out of start one onto the bench again, and it offers so many good options.
01:16 Let's see what she lines up here.
01:18 It looks like she's coming into a bit of a double right off the top,
01:21 taking the same air as Tiffany and stomping it,
01:25 staying in control, shutting down.
01:27 That's huge. So you can line everything up coming to the next feature.
01:31 Oh, yeah, Erin with a strong start there.
01:33 Similar approach to what we saw from Estelle, but actually airing onto the platform.
01:38 Now she's heading way, way out to the riders, right?
01:41 These kinds of things, they're not going to hurt fluidity as long as you're moving towards
01:45 something. Now Erin gathering a handful of speed through the powder.
01:48 Working her way down into the tree section.
01:51 Now let's see what she has lined up.
01:52 There's a bunch of different goalies with feature options, milking that snow,
01:57 getting the snow up, enjoying the powder a little bit.
02:00 Let's see what she has here down at the bottom.
02:03 I think that shows some some real savvy there from Erin Sovey popping right off the nose of that one.
02:10 And you can see she's directing herself to where there aren't tracks for these for these riders.
02:15 The snow's not that deep, but if it's not chopped up,
02:18 then you still have an opportunity to throw some spray and control your speed.
02:22 So savvy riding from Sovey, Savvy Sovey,
02:25 wrapping up her run here as she finished out strong showing for the Canadian rider.
02:30 Putting one down on Canadian soil for the Canadian.
02:34 I love to see it.
02:35 Let's see what the judges think and if it will be enough to knock out
02:38 that commanding score that Tiffany just put down.
02:41 Yeah, absolutely.
02:42 All right, we can take a look back here.
02:44 I really liked Erin's approach to that first feature dropping off and then sending right
02:48 off the nose as we see the judging criteria control way up, fluidity and the line.
02:53 Yeah, you may be right.
02:54 Estelle may have had a few more features stacked in there and some of them were really big,
02:58 but nonetheless a solid run and I really like this final hit from Erin.
03:01 And it was such a clean run too.
03:04 No issues, no hands down.
03:06 I'd love to see that staying in control in tough conditions is extremely challenging
03:11 and that's why they're the best of the best.
03:13 That's right.
03:13 So everyone at home, love you Rosslyn.
03:18 All right, well shout out to the homies there back in Rosslyn.
03:20 It was a nice quick commute for Erin Sauvé to get up here to golden as the score coming at 71.67.
03:27 So Erin putting herself into second.
03:30 As you said, Tom, that line of Estelle Rosolio standing up to a solid challenge.
